Turon Men's Service Boots $298 (RRP $398) Delivered @ Trimly

90

Bought a pair of these boots a number of years ago, after browsing r/GoodYearWelt and finding an Australian supplier. Great pair of shoes and likely just as good as the out of stock RM Williams Randwick Lace-up Boots for $449. Looking at the photos, I believe these to be better (not seeing the RM Williams in person).

Taking its cues from Australian military apparel, the Turon Stitchdown Service Boots have been made from exquisite - and equally hard-wearing - French calf leather. Two levels of chrome speed hooks further the utilitarian feel, while the durable studded rubber sole and cork footbed is affixed via a Stitchdown construction – sealing out moisture and increasing comfort with each wear.

  • Stitchdown Construction offers excellent durability and water-resistance
  • Calfskin leather, from leading French tannary D'Annonay, that develops a fine patina with age
  • Full leather lining, cork footbed, and studded rubber sole for great comfort that gets better with each wear
  • 2 levels chrome speed hooks

    ‘Service boots’?

What manner of service might these boots be suited for?

These look great. Made in Vietnam FYI.

Those type of laces don't last ten minutes though.

    • My laces are 2 yrs still going strong

Made by a very respectable shoemaker in Vietnam, Fugashin from Japan.

My Turon laces have lasted several years so far.

Get some Red Wings, will last a decade

    • Takes about a decade to break in a pair of Iron Rangers, should get a couple decades out of a pair

      • That can be an issue but if you have the right size it should not take too long. The leather is so thick and durable it takes time to deform. But once you break them in boy are they comfortable and durable. I have been wearing one pair daily about 5-6 years and still have not had to replace the sole. You realise how poor value most shoes are once you have tried high quality durable ones

100%, poor man pays twice. Depending on just how old your Iron Rangers are, the early ones came with Red Wings own cork rubber soles, they were thicker and harder wearing than the Vibram soles that they currently come with. When it comes time to repair, try source a pair of those soles, while they don't have the tread of the Vibram, they'll outlast them by a long way.

I have a pair of these and the R.M. Williams Randwicks. Prefer the Turons.. they are great quality and very comfortable.

  • I've had these for 2 years. Great quality boots, I probably wear them about twice a week.

Only issue is that 1 of the speedhook eyelets have snapped off. Easily replaceable by a cobbler so not worried.

I happily paid $398 for them.

  • I have these in black. They look fantastic, but do cause pain if I walk around in them much. An insole has helped a lot. Could be a sizing issue. I did find that they were very squeaky until i put some talcum powder in them.

Nice boots to be used when servicing men.

Do they come with matching knee pads?

      • Hell yes! But it's RMW, it ain't free!

  • Bought a black pair back in June last year. Daily wear for 5 days/week. Took approx 1 week to break in and 3 months for the squeaking to go away. Very comfortable now.

"The squeaking sound is created by the natural oils and the smooth top finish of the leather. It certainly goes away with time." - TGC Customer Support
