Jetstar Hawaii Launch Sale: MEL to Honolu Return from $328.86

377

Just got an email about Jetstar's Launch sale for their Hawaii leg that comes into operation from December 2012.

Travel is for select dates between Jan - Jun 2013.

I had a play around with dates and there are weekend as well as mid week flights.

The cheapest I could find was $328.86 return ($199 up and $129.86 on the way back).

The usual conditions apply (no checked baggage, booking with credit card costs extra, etc).

Appears to finish at 8pm tonight, but still a massive bargain if anyone is keen!

    Booking as we speak lol

  • .

  • Too late to the party and can't seem to find any $328 returns :(

  • I had $328 return flights but by time i proceed to finalise the booking they were gone. Ended up getting return for $625 with luggage. Will still be pressed to find better then that in the future.

Booked for mid march for $392 incl cc fees. I just came back from my 2 weeks holiday in Asia yesterday. LOL

  • +2

Rubbish… had everything selected, even decided to do seats and then some bs error saying no longer available!
Tried twice now, and nothing much left, how can you select everything then it gets sold out from underneath you, thats a load of rubbish imo. Pretty annoyed right now….

    • What dates are you after? I can still see cheap flights in early Feb.

      • +1

Anytime May July just for 2 weeks suits… but I keep having to fill details for 4 people and by the time I get to payment it says unavailable…
They keep releasing a few seats here and there for last couple of hours.
Absolute Rubbish marketing tactic making me furious.

  • Departures 19 & 26 March avail, but not cheap return it seems.

  • ALso couldnt find any dates where this deal was actually available. Has the sale been going for a while and the cheap tickets sold out, or are Jetstar pulling a shifty?

    • +3

keep checking, they release them every 15 mins… errr actually please dont check ;)

  • Probably selling enough @ 499 so dont need to discount much more…. Im still holding hope though…

  • +4

Just out of interest, whenever these airfare specials are posted on Ozbargain there's more than a few people who immediately book. Do people already have holidays from work lined up and the airfares hit the required time period? Do people book airfares now and contact the boss later to arrange time off work?

    • Yup that's how I do it. My workplace is flexible enough to do that. It is 5+ months away though!

    • +1

Ah, not everyone works. Have you heard of retirement……

      • Heh, forgot about retirement

        • Forgetting is a precursor to retirement :)

    • People could be self employed, stay at home mums, tradies, retired, jobless, or just plain rich, all options which give you nice flexibility.

  • +5

I found out May 25 back June 11 for $342, chose seats and entered the credit card details (a Jetstar credit card!!) Then the site crashed the booking and when I restarted the booking the price for these dates was now something like $1300!! Just the usual incompetent b%$^%*%t when dealing with Qantas/Jetstar. Oh and their Customer Support number is timing out….!!!!!! What a croc!!!!!!!!

    • +1

      Yep crapola!

    • Yep. Not just this one. Their latest marketing antics starts to lose me as a customer. They're becoming more and more like tiger airways. And I honestly can't think of a worse insult.

  • Sold out unfortunately

  • Ozbargained

  • Good luck, had tickets 3 times each time at payment they were gone. there FB page have lots of the same complaints. they don't hold tickets while you are processing. they also said all tickets are now sold out??

    • +5

Not holding tix is an absolute load of crap. I hope they cop a whole lot of backlash for that!

      • +7

So the booking system is absolutely useless UNTIL they accept your payment. Even when they're processing your credit card you don't yet have a booking!! At no other time in the process do you actually have a booking…such a joke!! Promo fares are supposed to be about positive image making….I don't think so on this occasion!!!

        • +12

It would be good if it worked like Ticketek where the booking is reserved for X minutes.

        • Absolutely!

        • +3

I had the same thing. What a joke, worst experience. The high of booking a holiday and the low of getting screwed over by Jetstar

        • Their website is absolute rubbish when it comes to processing a high amount of traffic. You'd think a company that size would know better. What a disappointment.

  • Cheapest I can find is $499 one way

  • +1

    All finished.

  • Devoooo… So wanted to go to hawaii was waiting for a sale :(
These websites are so dodge.. Tiger $20 fare melb to syd was the same … I went thru 4 times and each time it bombed after i put in details and hit payment!! Was so frustrating.
Lucky ppl who got tickets.. so jealous

  • +1

i tried booking, had my flights booked then got the error message at payment time. tried again and managed to book 6 of us in business class for about $4500 return, so happy with that.

  • +1

I've had too many bad experiences with Somoa to take up this deal.

  • +4

Jetstar should be ashamed, they never had the availability that would have been easily expected. Follow that with featured advertising all over the MEL MX. ACCC anyone?

    • +1

They have a quota. Looks like ewes bogans jus gotta go back to Bali agains oi.

  • +3

its jetstar, its really worth paying a few hundred more dollars for peace of mind and a way better airline for that distance.

    • +3

      but……

      Jetstar $330 return
      Hawaiian/Qantas $1300 return.

I could stay there for another week just for enduring the Jetstar torture! Plus Qantas fly their shitty old 767's there which is worse than the new Jetstar A330.

      • First who actually got it for $330 return? 29 people? Whoop-Dee-Doo! Second it's $1,500 without a sale at Qantas, look above someone said Jetstar was asking $1300 with a sale.

767's Shitty? No. Slightly grimy? Maybe. But at least you get entertainment, bags and meals. For few hundred more I'd pay that easily.

  • just out of interest, wondering if it would be cheap to fly through to USA with these tickets (missed the sale but just curious of ways to make it cheap to the US)

    • kayak.com

    • I am sure you could connect with an American carrier at a great price from there. Take a look on Delta or Hawaiian Air.

    • yes, I was looking at it. Another good site is skyscanner. That and kayak, zuji, bestflights and expedia are the websites are usually use for flights. And if your whole trip originates in australia then flight centre will price match it.

    • I flew from Maui to Vancouver for $69 in Jan 2009, so it is alot cheaper going to the mainland from hawaii

  • +1

Such an awesome price, pity there wasn't awesome availability.

Honolulu is great. You don't even have to spend much money there, just hanging out and going around on the public bus is good. Bargain tip: Snorkelling at Hanauma Bay is only a few dollars to hire the the snorkel and mask from the stand on the beach and only a couple of dollars to get there on the bus.

Very jealous of whoever managed to grab flights! :D

I'm pretty sure this deal was plastered on everything single bloody newspaper way before it was put on OzB.

      you make me sick

    • +7

Although you speak the truth, especially about almost instantaneous OzBargaining, sometimes it's probably best to just gloat silently, rather than rub it in. So your praying worked and everyone on OzBargain missed out. Go you! ;D

Makes me wonder how seats were available? Did they say how seats were offered?

    • Yes I am waiting for this, but after todays load of bs, I doubt it will even be on.

      • Yep nothing. So over it. Good luck everyone :(

    • -1

I just checked May/June and the 'sale' fares are $1000+!!! Thanks for nothing Jetstar……..so galling!!

      • The Deal finished at 8pm last night. Maybe you need a spectacles bargain….

        • -1

Please read the post above by Zipperman. Now who needs 'spectacles' (quaint 19th century expression that…)

        • Expression is correct.

Your expression posted at around 8am I "JUST" checked, 8 hours past Zippermans Midnight deal.

So I was just reading the expression you made, but at the same time I did put the wrong reference time.

Care to see if we can get an extra discount for ordering two pairs at the same time :)

  • "How to alienate customers in 30 days" lol

  • Eh, I got in just after 4 when it popped up in my new feed, Booked a return for 328 with carry on only. I missed out on my first dates choice case it was taken but that happens if your not quick.

There were some flights at midnight for 350each way, and thats still 1/2 price compared to almost any other carrier.

    • Did the same :)

      Going mid Feb!! ^^

  • All the people that missed out make me feel better about missing out too. :) Thank you, schadenfreude.

Missed out negative votes. You really should read our guidelines on voting.

These are promotional fares. Once gone they are gone. Slamming posts like these, can just turn off people sharing, so guess what. Nobody will benefit from any deal if no one wants to share.

Limited deals exist, if you dont like Jetstar, Virgin Tiger etc limited deals, just dont even try.

Most of you who have complained about missing out, tried, so you were interested in flying, as much as you say you hate the airline. But like everything you want it when you want to go and at a price.

Please get real, be happy for those who got the deal….

    • -3

Please read the negative posts again (in your 'spectacles') The angst is directed not at Mugz for posting (good job Mugz) but at Jetstar for such an assinine booking system that so misleads and infuriates people. Justifiably…

      • +2

Anger yes, But read the guidelines on voting - its not how its to be used.

We here at Ozbargain think we are great (which we are!) but some nerd at Jetstar isnt reading this or at least not worried about the negative vote.

Misusing the vote destroys its effectiveness as a deal warning

  • Heading off for a 10 day stint in May. Took 4 goes but got there in the end! Thanks OzBargain :)

  • I get tired of all the best deals being gone before I even receive my copy of the daily OzBargain bulletin. How do other members find out about these deals quicker?

    • They have a room with a bed under the server

You can also get a message sent to you every time a deal is posted for a particular company.

eg Myer Coles Dick Smith Virgin
