APAYDAY3

The Breville Dual Boiler is arguably one of the most bang for buck coffee machine in Australia! People in US pay more than double what we pay here in Australia for this machine and still consider this good value! Good for those who missed last week's Perks deal.

On Checkout you will have to select Afterpay for the discount to apply. If your Afterpay limit is less than the total price, a good workaround is to buy an eBay voucher to bring the price lower than you Afterpay limit.

Original Coupon Deal

Excludes: Northern Territory, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote.

Beware of buying breville products from Bing Lee
I got my dual boiler from the previous deal last week. It was clearly a used machine - absolutely filthy, missing accessories and scratched up.

When I removed the shipping label, I found previous labels to and from the breville service centre and return authorisation numbers with another person's details. Bing Lee have been ignoring my questions re: wtf has happened.

    Avoid!

Wow that is crazy! Contact consumer protection

      • +2

        I intend to

        • +1

Also let BL know that you are

          • @user27: I've asked for a manager to call me. We'll see how that goes.

    • +2

I got mine from the previous BL deal and it was fine. Definitely something wrong with your order and would be banging down doors.

      • +8

I'd hate to think what your idea of a good reason for a neg is….

      • +3

        What a ridiculous comment 🤦🏼‍♂️

      • Well, you've got 9 negs now. 🙅 🤦

    • +3

Crazy! I just purchased this today and now you've made me nervous :P I'll make sure I give the machine a good look-over before I start using…

    • +1

      absolute scum.
thank you for letting us know. i have always heard a lot of bad things, but this is absolutely unacceptable. if i paid almost a thousand for something it better brand spanking new. i hope they replace and get you sorted asap.

    • With all the things you described it was such an obvious one-off mistake that will be easily sorted out. No need to throw Bing Lee under the bus.

      • +2

I would have agreed except that they are avoiding answering my questions. I went back and forth with them all day before posting my comment.

    • +1

Yeah that’s not good. Back in the day Dick Smith was smashed for selling returned external drives after data was found on one of them. After that all opened returns and repaired items were clearly labelled as “used”.

      • +1

They also had a habit of swapping customer DOA items with fresh stock (which is great) but then having the faulty item repaired and put back on the shelf.

    • +1

      Avoid!<

Sounds like an isolated case of human error that will be resolved without issue. Unlucky yes, annoying yes, but in terms of life's disappointments I don't think it'll be far up the list.

If we were to "avoid!" every store that makes an error…..

    • Thats literally straight up illegal in Australia, its more likely their fuffillment centre got messed up TBH than this is what they are doing.

      • +2

I was inclined to be as forgiving as you, but they've not bothered to explain what's happened whatsoever. I've given them all the information they asked for and even the previous name on the box.

They've flat out ignored my questions. They're More than happy to tell me to email elsewhere to obtain a shipping label… But multiple questions as to what's happened with this machine have been ignored.

You'd think if a customer had this issue, they'd be entitled to an explanation, and a customer care standard a bit above a normal return? I wouldn't want this happening to any of you.

Judging a business by an error they make can be harsh, yes.

Judging a business by their response to an error is not harsh.

        • +1

Fair enough. I agree, that is poor form.

A good test for any business is how they recover from an error/mistake. Seems in this instance it's a failure compounded by even more failures.

I had the barista express and switched to fully automatic Delonghi and now regret it.
I want a good cup of coffee back, and loved the integrated grinder (for space reason)
So is it still worth it to get this one over the barista pro?

    Thank you!

    • +9

A good grinder is more important than the espresso machine. Don’t Go down the route of integrated grinders.

      • +1

Which grinder? What's the next step up from the BSG that doesn't cost a fortune.

        • +1

I think a real good value grinder, seems to be still pre-order in Aus, is the Baratza Encore ESP. This is $349 locally and is a great grinder for espresso as well as filter, the previous Encore wasn't fine enough for espresso.
I just ordered one yesterday and got it for $315 through an Australian shop on eBay with AfterPay coupon.
I just upgraded to the BDB and my old grinder, is now very obviously, a POS.

      • Oh really!!!??
        Never thought its that important!!
Thanks for that, will have to read more about it

        • +2

Buy this. It's likely to one of the newer ones with the compression fittings as opposed to the O ring fittings in the boilers like I mentioned in the previous post.

This is crazy good machine for this money.

          • +1

@Flyerone: Can you provide pictures of the inside of your machine?

I haven't seen a picture of the new compression fittings and am very very interested on how the inside of the machine now looks compared to my old BDB, I wasnt aware there was a 2023 revision.

            • +3

@Jofzar: I bought my second one 6 months before the change so mine only has compression fittings on the water lines into/out of boilers where the new model has them on the sensors as well. Here is an image posted on the coffeesnobs forum though.

If price isn't an issue and you want an integrated grinder then wait for Breville the Oracle to go on sale.

    • Get a pro if you can't really be bothered but want a manual, keep your express and buy a $400ish grinder if you really want good coffee… That's the difference between my brother and I. He has an express with a grinder that cost him the same as the coffee machine. I got a pro for like $890 and have loved it for the last 7 months

I'm still very happy with the coffees I make but the consistency and top tier taste ain't as good as his… But then again he prob spends more on beans too.

      Good.luck

      • Thanks for that
Never thought the grinder is that important

        • Yeah the grinder is far more important than the machine at the lower end. I spent 400 on my dual boiler machine and 600 on a grinder. Definitely worth it, the coffee is great.

Just need to make another hundred or so of them to break even….

        • Grinder is as important as the machine. Don't cheap out on a grinder or you will never see all the benefits the BDB has to offer

  • "People in US pay more than double what we pay here in Australia for this machine and still consider this good value!"

So they dhould, it's an Australian Company. We pay more for crap than other counyries so ehy not. Hell we even pay more for things made here than other counyries.

    • -1

So instead of simply wishing we weren’t gouged in Australia, you instead wish for revenge on innocent consumers of foreign countries?

Sounds… completely logical. And not at all petty.

  • +1

I'm keen to purchase this but don't want to uses after pay. Does anyone know a good work around for this.

  • looks like it's out of stock now? I just bought my ebay gift cards to complement my AP credit.
