ANZ Platinum Credit Card: Get $250 Back with $1,500 Spend on Eligible Purchases in The First 3 Months, $0 First Year Fee

151

$0 for the first year, currently $87 thereafter.

I just cancelled my ANZ Black Rewards Card and still within 12 months waiting period for ANZ FF card - great option to apply and profit from ANZ generous Travel insurance policy when you have to spend only $250 and get many benefits such as Nil excess for Rental Vehicle Excess overseas which is really important. ANZ Platinum should be different from ANZ Rewards and FF program, but better to double check directly with ANZ

Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Platinum credit card through anz.com and Internet Banking only. This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card. If you transfer to a different Credit Card Account this offer will cease to apply. This offer applies only once per eligible customer. If approved, you must activate the card and make $1,500 worth of eligible purchases within 3 months of your Letter of Offer to be eligible for the $250 to be credited to your Credit Card Account. The date of approval of an application is the disclosure date specified in your Letter of Offer. Eligible purchases includes purchases made using your account but excludes specific purchases as set out in the ANZ Credit Cards Conditions of Use (PDF). Excluded purchases include, for example, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balances transfers [premiums paid for ANZ credit card insurance], transactions for gambling or gaming purposes or reversed or refunded transactions and will not qualify. The $250 will be credited to your credit card account within three months of the eligible spend criteria being met. The $250 credit will be applied to the Purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your contract with ANZ. If you transfer or cancel your new ANZ Platinum Credit Card Account before the $250 credit is processed to your account, you may become ineligible for this offer. ANZ may refuse to fulfill this offer if you are in default under the terms of your credit card contract. If your account is cancelled or suspended, you forfeit your right to redeem the credit under this offer. There may be a delay in the process of receiving and/or approving an application or activating the card. Applications for credit are subject to ANZ’s credit approval criteria.

Nothing about not having held a similar card in the last 12 months.

Also, I could be wrong but "ANZ Platinum" is a new product anyway. Previous one was "ANZ Rewards Platinum". This product does not have a rewards program (which suits me fine as a product to churn ASAP.)

    • That was my read of it as well. I've read it a few times and can't seem to see the 'gotcha' so planning to apply!

ANZ Platinum is not a new product, I had this card long time ago for Travel Insurance purposes. And yes, nothing about 12 months waiting period - this is why I believe it is a good offer

    • I was approved for a Rewards Black last month. After I meet the spend criteria ($3K within 90 days), could I cancel then still be eligible for this one?

I believe so - this is what I already did. But as said - it's better to contact ANZ directly and double check

  • last time, they rejected my application

ANZ have really upped their security measures and as a result the application process is more tedious compared to previously. When I applied for the Velocity offer they requested all sorts of ID. Also had to go into a branch as well. Keep that in mind when applying.

  • I previously held an ANZ Rewards Platinum card in last 12 months, cancelled it last August. I just signed up for this card at the start of the month and enquired through their online chat about when I might get the $250 cashback but was told that since I previously held an ANZ Rewards Platinum within the last 12 months I wasn't eligible for the offer.

    • Thanks for the direct experience report, too bad as I have also held the Rewards Plat recently.

  • Any got their cashback yet? How long did it take after min spend met?

  • I currently hold ANZ Black Qantas Frequent Flyer card, am I eligible for this card??

  • Anyone know if buying gift cards included in the Eligible purchases? I cannot find it in T&C

  • Does purchases include government spend? Also does someone know whether paying the balance off early then reusing the funds through the credit card constitutes additional spend especially when my limit is set quite low?

Looking at the ANZ Compare Credit cards page, there's the same spend $1500 get $250 back promo available on both the ANZ Platinum CC and ANZ Low Rate CC. Both have $0 annual fee in first year but slightly different annual fee amounts ($87 vs $58) and the Platinum card also has complimentary insurances.

The real question is can you get both cards and get $500 credit by spending $3000?
