  • Stack up on 12 month prepaid cards?

Speaking of, this is only 6 months (for $39.20), but it say's it's global: https://www.gamers-outlet.net/en/buy-office-365-family-home-…

I'm considering getting one to see if it works…

      • I'm gonna also double it and give it to the next person

You can buy a lifetime licence for Office 2021 - much better.

    "to address changing market conditions."

What market conditions cause a subscription software item to go up in price?

    • +3

      AKA we want more money

    • Paying for the $10B they stuck into OpenAI that's now being rolled out into everything they own.

    • Global hyper inflation maybe

Not unexpected, since goal would be to get everyone onto subscription, then slowly increase the price and everyone will be forced to keep paying. Still lame with the trend towards subscriptions rather than buying outright. At least I have stacked until 2026 and still cheaper than buying only a one-time licence of Office (which I guess is how they sucker you in…).

    • Subscription has its benefits eg. I am using 9 email addresses for business and one has office attached to it. As long as I activate it with that email account, I can have it installed on 10 machines then the user just switches account to theirs to personalise and sync with OneDrive.

There are free alternatives like open office, libre office.
Also check if you can get for free through work or a student email.

    • Free software is great however formatting is often skewed if sending or opening with ms Office. Libre cad is a life saver for DXF viewing.

  • Why pay a subscription when you can buy outright?

I recently bought MS Office 2021 Professional Plus (32/64 bit) for $85 from Softwaremart Australia.

Normal price was $100 but you can usually get a discount

  • Are the business plan pricing also increasing?
Does anyone have a link to the price increases?
