    right on time for dinner!!!

Not sure why do KFC deals get 100+ votes. I find their food mediocre at best.

      Did somebody say KFC??

Every, f**king, day, it seems on here..

    • +4

compared to other fast food chains, they seem to be the better ones. at least imo.

      • +10

I mean at least it's real chicken and not some extruded pink slime .

        • +1

          What company sells pink slime?

        • Yeah, KFC's nuggets are the cream of the crop, even the coating is chicken and they add gold to it. /s

    • +1

Try their wings. Those are great. Chips is good as well. The Original are meh

      • +4

        Fresh original still bomb af

Gotta eat it fresh in store though

        • Last time I had ir was very dry.

          • +2

@Dienk: I find the crumb too greasy and the chicken sometimes too dry :c

      • +5

chips always soggy at my local store

        • I don't think I've ever got them not soggy. That's why I hate KFC chips

      • Does the east coast have hot and spicy permanently on the menu now?

        • Varies by restaurant. The Sydney CBD ones I think almost always did/do

      • +2

Wicked Wings? Consistently good whenever I have them.

Chips? 50/50. Sometimes soggy pieces of rubber, other times well seasoned and crispy.

Original recipe? Most of the time for me, soggy and overcooked. When it is fresh though, it's pretty good.

      • +4

Chips are usually soggy and sad

        • +1

need to request it fresh with extra seasoning and season before putting in the container otherwise 90% of the fries is tasteless. then it’s amazing.

90% of the workers season after filling the container which is annoying

    • +1

Hard to think of a food that pleases all tastes, all ages, all nationalities, all dietary requirements, all budgets. When you think of it that way, is there another that comes to mind?

      • "all dietary requirements" lol

  • +3

    Thanks mate dinner sorted

  • +23

    But it never left?

    • +7

      And this is regular price….🤷

  • +7

Cheap as chips has been our go to at KFC for the last couple of years.

Me and the Mrs have come up with a theory though. It feels like every time we order it we get stuck with the really dry/small/sh*tty pieces of chicken.

I think they use the cheap as chips orders to off load all of these crap pieces.

Would love to hear people’s thoughts and also experiences especially tonight after everyone has ordered it 😆

    • +3

It's probably just the KFC you go to.

KFC Haymarket is the benchmark all other restaurants wish to aspire to.

      • Kfc Haymarket is absolutely awful

        • KFC Dog Swamp is the worst.
          Constantly runs out of chicken.
Last time I was there the "manager" substituted 6 pieces of chicken on someones Uber Eats order with two large chips and a popcorn chicken. Lol.

      • +3

Visited KFC Haymarket last week - above average Original Recipe.

        • +4

If two people on OzBargain are saying this, I must go now. Haymarket KFC meet anyone?? :)

          • @Zackeroo: I don't trust in KFC's variability though.

The extremes: my local once sold the worst KFC I've ever had, and once sold the top 2 greatest (crunchiest) ever

    • +1

      dry/small/sh*tty pieces of chicken.

This was my experience consistently when I used to bother with the Tuesday 9 for 9.95 deals

    • Yeah mate it's always got high number of noticeable crap pieces

    • +1

I think you're right. I seem to get overloaded with drum and thigh with cheap ass chips deal. I've heard they shouldn't put more than two of the same piece in the one box but I rarely see any breast in the cheap as chip box. Maybe one wing.

    • Just ask them for mostly leg and thigh pieces (best imo). Tried this for the first time the other day and they said “we’ll try our best”. Then the legends gave me all legs and thighs.

      • +1

This is actually true. I usually do this. They kind sigh and grumble but they comply and you get a decent spread at worst.

    • 100% Tiniest, driest, most overcooked pieces in Cheap as Chips lately.

  • +12

Normal everyday prices are a bargain now?

    • +6

This. Has been readily available at my local at this price for a long, long time.

    • -1

Yes…. something that is still decent value and hasn't gone up 20% is a bargain in the cost of living situation we're in.

  • +4

i want the four burger four chip $20 deal back
    .

  • +6

How is this a deal, it's the normal price?

  • If hot and spicy was served in Vic this would be a deal

    • It varies by each store, my local has hot and spicy.

      • Which?

    • +1

Just move to WA, problem solved.

We always swap the original for hot and spicy in these

  • +7

I ate all this and felt sick and greasy after.

    • +2

That would be expected if you had the whole cheap as chips on your own

      • Two of the sides were drinks I put in the cupboard, so technically I didn't get the whole experience. it was still too much.

        • I applaud your self control.

          • @MattyD: And one of the other sides was potato and gravy which I put in the fridge. I guess I'm a bit of lightweight compared to some others here.

    • +6

      That’s part of the experience

      • +4

When you finish eating an abnormally large serving of KFC, you sit, sigh, and you think to yourself, 'What did I just do?'

        Just me?

        • +5

I do, too… but a few hours later I crave more.

        • +2

…but I just sit, sigh, …then fall asleep.

Something in KFC flavouring that ushers in a good sleep straight after.

    • +1

It’s just under 2x the average adult’s daily intake of kj so no surprise you felt that way.

      • +2

lol. I think I did 2x the average adult's daily shits the next morning too, so the math adds up.

    • I don't think this is a single eater friend.

  • +10

I never thought i'd live to see the day where KFC is the cheapest of fast food.
Hungry Jacks, the local Fish 'n' Chip shop, the corner authentic Indian pizza place have all just jumped in price incredibly.

    • +1

4 pieces of Original Recipe for $7 has been the greatest fast food value for a while!

    • +5

      authentic Indian pizza

My favourite food after authentic Chinese yeeros.

      • Deep friend honey chicken in a wrap with rice and cabbage is what I am imagining.

      • Aka Domino's.

      • Mmmm….. Deep base tandoori and pineapple..

    • +2

Agreed. Whilst KFC have had some price bumps recently, it’s nothing like other stores, especially when you compare it to kj per dollar spent.

  • +2

Does anybody remember the KFC promotion, where if you got married in their restaurant they would pay for your wedding and reception?
The winners were 'Kate and Harrison Can', both Ozbargain members… they invited 150 guests and it seemed to be a hit with their family/friends.

  • +4

Someone mentioned on the last KFC post they prefer Red Rooster's fried chicken, how right they were. I tried it recently, and their found their fried chicken with spicy sauce excellent.

    • +1

Their hot honey version is next level delicious too - dunno if available over east yet though.

    • They are hot and crunchy at best

The fried chicken actually ain't tasty but relies on the sauce

  • this is an ongoing deal for like ever.

  • +1

hows this an ozbargain, this is everyday normal price. people are shilling redrooter here too. welcome to ozadvertising/shilling.

    • +1

yeah, but I guess many don't know it is there on the app.

    • +1

I'd probably suggest that with everything inflating, including on the KFC menu, something that still costs around the same can be considered a bargain 'cause at least it isn't now $24.95

  • Dinner sorted thanks op!

  • They need to bring back hot and spicy chicken, their original chicken is not as good

    • Hmmm what state are you in?

Hot and spicy is permanent in Qld

    • +1

Dulwich Hill in Sydney has it permanently too.

      • I thought the Town hall store is the only one in Sydney to have it. I don't know why its not available more widely, its much much better than original. Maybe its the franchisees not willing to pay the additional fee for it.

        • well a fresh batch of original thigh are really good too

  • Does anyone know if you ask for a fresh batch if they would make it for you?

  • How I miss all you can eat KFC in Australia

    • I tried KFC in the US, its not as good.

      • +1

KFC buffet in Japan is the best!

        Even the Sizzlers is good

      • Yeah a lot of KFCs in the use are run down and not as well maintained. Although it's not all bad, they do have a few items that you can get here and I'd say their potato and gravy is much better.

They also seem to have more a system to give good variety in pieces with set quotas on order for dark (thigh, drumstick) and light (breast) pieces.

        • I think its more with their chicken, it just doesn't taste as good and not as meaty. I have been told it may be due to the hormones which inject our chicken, not sure if that's true.

  • have used this CAC deal for years, but a bit peeved that the swap to tenders is no longer free….extra $.50 per tender swap from OR

  • +2

I order this once a month from Dulwich Hill KFC. They serve hot and spicy chicken all year round 🌶🍗😋

  • Every time I get chicken pieces from KFC they seem to be so dry. Are all KFCs like this? The 4 or 5 that I have gotten food from all seem to be the same.

The chicken on the burgers always seems alright though.

    • +1

Really the only chicken I find that isn't consistently dry are Wicked Wings, the Zinger fillets they use in burgers and majority of the time with OG recipe pieces are pretty dry imo. YMMV, it really does depend on a lot of factors

  • Has anyone tried the Cola BBQ Wicked Wings?

    • Yeah, not really worth it. Just a sweet sauce with a mild cola flavour that is lightly drizzled on top.
