Would need to expand into a full set of luggage for the family before I’d consider that price a bargain 😁

    • Either that or expand into one of those foam protection capsules when you come off.

$350 for a small backpack? Is this a joke post?? You could get a hard top case or similar for less than that.

    • +2

Kriega is expensive. They are also extremely well built (420D Cordura, Hypalon), take a huge beating, 10 year warranty, last way beyond that and the comfort while on a motorcycle is substantially better than most backpacks with their harness system.

Their backpacks are a buy once, buy it for life product.

There is an Australia tax from the importers. You can buy and ship cheaper from overseas which is always the way.

      • "Kriega is expensive" - so not really a bargain then is it? Plenty of backpacks out there that do exactly the same thing for less imho. You can hardly feel them through thick leathers/jacket anyway unless you're carrying heaps of weight. I never had an issue with cheaper ones. Expandable might be kinda handy, but i never wanted to cart my helmet around in a backpack. Each to their own though.

        • +1

It's a bargain if you're looking for a Kriega backpack, and their harness system is not the same as other backpacks, it's a differentiator that makes a big difference if you've used it before. If it must be the cheapest item in it's category to qualify being posted on the site then I guess we can't post a bargain about an iPhone given there's other mobile devices that are 1/10th the price.

          • -3

@Allegiance: Please don't dismiss a legitimate objection with a dumb iphone strawman.

          • -2

@Allegiance: Oh yes. The special harness system that no other backpack has. Lol. Just about every backpack I've ever seen has some sort of strap/chest set up to help redistribute the weight. Pretty cool marketing gimmick though. Seems plenty have drunk the kool aid. Probably helps a lot for those all-day hikes carrying 50kg of gear. Oh wait. Its marketed at office workers carrying a laptop and a spare pair of shoes. Rflmao. You really need that durability carrying your bag from your bike to the office in the cbd too. Lucky it has that long guarantee. Lol. I mean, look, its probably a decent bag, but theres really no need to get all defensive just because someone is slightly dubious about your favourite designer handbag. Its just a discussion.

@Fredorishi: The fact that you can't see the value in the backpack, doesn't take away from this particular deal being a 16% discount for people that do see the value in it. I don't care if you like it or not, but to say it's not a bargain isn't correct.

              • -6

@Allegiance: Oh well. Please do forgive me for expressing my opinion. I humbly beg your forgiveness. You'll notice i didn't neg the deal. Again. Just a discussion. First time I've seen a $350 laptop backpack advertised as a bargain, so i guess I let my emotions get away from me. I won't ever question your infinite wisdom again. Maybe instead of complaining about me, you could offer your personal experince with the pack? So far all I'm seeing is marketing spiel. Are you associated?

            • +2

@Fredorishi: Special harness system in the way the straps are cut they don’t get in the way in a typical motorcycle riding position.

Standard backpack straps go straight up and down. Kriega and other motorcycle specific backpack straps are curved in a banana shape. Kriega aren’t the only ones to do it but you’d need to look specifically at motorcycle backpacks for the same cut.

Can you use a normal backpack on a motorcycle, sure. Are standard backpacks on a motorcycle as comfy as those with motorcycle riding position ergonomics, no. There’s a reason Kriega’s so popular despite the cost. Comfy, bomb proof, practical.

This specific backpack is clearly aimed at office commuters with the WATERPROOF laptop compartment and design. If commuting it’ll be a better choice than standard non waterproof backpacks.

@2BsQzrbgkL: So you dont have any personal experience either? Interesting. Curved back pack straps and waterproof? Now you're having a lend, surely? Heres one that was on here a while back for $69. No doubt lower quality, but it has curved straps and can be waterproof. If you're going to continue with your promotions, at least say something sensible.

It’s nearly $70 off the usual price. If you are shopping for one a $70 saving is a $70 saving.

          • -2

@2BsQzrbgkL: Well yeah, duh. Out of stock pretty quick though, hey?

            • +1

@Fredorishi: Maybe because…. other people thought it was a bargain and bought it.

              • -1

@Allegiance: Yeah, huge amount of upvotes and comments. Must have all flown out the door in under an hour between the post and being sold out. You guys are hilarious. Lol. This is fun.

                • @Fredorishi: You caught us mate, it's a big conspiracy and we are all here to try to get people to buy overpriced backpacks. Damn we nearly got away with it.

You should go have a look at TUMI's website and the price of their backpacks, I have one and appreciate the quality of that, just like I do my Kriega backpack. I just never realised I could get the same backpack for $69, thanks for informing me of that.

                  • @Allegiance: Lol. Good to see you're finally getting a sense of humour. So you didn't buy this one either then? Good call. Still seems overpriced for a commuter/ laptop back pack. If someone ever gets around to offering their personal perspective with this bag, heck. I might even buy one if they're convincing. The couple of independent reviews I've seen certainly aren't. Maybe thats why they were going cheap? ;)

                  • @Allegiance: P.s. Nice humble brag on the TUMI pack. You really know your designer handbags! Congrats.

                    • @Fredorishi: I have an R20 which I've had for four years and I got the MAX28 three months ago. My point with mentioning TUMI is, if you think $350 is overpriced and not a bargain then I guess you'd think $1,500 isn't either, and yet TUMI still sells backpacks. It's all about what you value.

Btw, not sure what independent reviews you've been reading on the MAX28, but the conclusion of the review I found on ryderplanet is:

Kriega needs no introduction if you’re looking for motorcycle baggage, whether you’ll be carrying it on your person or the bike. With years of experience and a keen eye for detail, their brand-new Max28 backpack represents why millions of motorcycle enthusiasts like this brand.

This backpack is targeted firmly at urban riders. However, anybody who is familiar with the build quality and carrying comfort of a Kriega bag understands that its utility goes well beyond the concrete jungle. We hope you like our kriega Max28 Expandable Backpack review.

MCAS had 20% off sales which included the Kriega line before, might happen again.

Also in fortnine’s 2018 backpack review he destroyed an R20 backpack by ripping the strap, so they’re tough but not indestructible.

        • +1

Had a R20 and crashed wearing it multiple times in desert’s , jungles, off-road. Nothing is indestructible but the R20 survived every off without damage. Only sold it as didn’t need it anymore.

USWE also make good packs but more off-road oriented carrying water, a few tools, snacks, not general purpose for commuting etc.

I'm getting by with a $30 Adidas backpack that's on its 3rd year of MC service. If only this $350 backpack guaranteed to not destroy a loaf of bread, I'd buy it in a heart beat, till then this $30 jobbie will suffice

    • It sounds like you need a rigid or semi rigid backpack to protect your bread.

Perhaps the Ogio No Drag or this Peak Design backpack which has dividers to protect multiple loaves.
