    • It's not one of those "i" things, manufactures like Samsung or Nokia have different product lines to suit different consumer groups. The 7.7 is priced higher than other 7-8 inch tablets as its outstanding display, longer battery life and design and that's why I bought it. Later model doesn't mean it's better in every way, my Nokia N9 got much worse camera than the earlier N8 and it doesn't matter because I bought it for its open (but dead?) OS and the design.
To shop with those brands the buys need to do more research to know which product meets their requirements the best, most consumers don't though.

    • The 7.7 is more of a premium product I feel, whereas the Tab 2 cuts some corners to compete with the likes of the Kindle Fire / Nexus tablet

  • Will the price go down everyday like the GS3?

    • This is because they are overpriced with the cheap labour in China.

  • Anyone tried to price match at ow?

    • they dont stock the 7.7 any more as far as i know

      • +1

Officeworks Jandakot have it in stock, so others might. Hit and miss I guess?

    • Yes I just got the last one between 2 OW stores Chaddie and Glen Waverley. Chaddie were willing to sell the display model, but it had been there for like 4 months wiht screen timeout set to 10 minutes - so not a good option. Even for the $264.10 I got for the last boxed one. So if you're desperate there's a well used one at OW chaddie. I didn't bother asking about the display model at glen waverly but its there too.

  • It got changed to in store only on their site.

  • Any good source for 3g model guys ? Please help.

  • Just bought, thanks OP :D
FYI, no more stock in Bendigo, I think (16GB).

    • Damn, just fired it up, and there's a quite obvious burn-in of the stock homepage on the screen. Damn, damn, damn. Anyone know what to do? Is there any way to tell the difference between image retention, and true burn-in?

      • Look at a total white screen - that will show burn-in if there is any.

        • Yeah, I've been running a white screen for the past half hour - very obvious widgets and icons. Taking it back to HN tomorrow for a refund :( My first tablet, too.

        • Was it a sealed box?

        • Nope: apparently they've had a few with US chargers, and so needed to check it before giving it to me - BS, I now realise.

    • Dupe.

  • i just feel sorry for the people who have purchased the jw $299.99 deals. Frankly speaking, i think this tablet will drop again to $249 :)

    • I don't think it will, stock is running out fast around here.

Imports may come down a bit more though, but for $264 @ OW pricematch, its a steal already.

I would buy it if you want it. It's almost out of stock and it's out of production, I don't think Samsung managed to make these screens cheaply enough, so it has abandoned this line of tablets: http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/1266946/samsung-p10-1.jpg (from a Samsung court document.

i wonder how many neg votes this comment can get

      • Probably not too many, most folks have learned not to feed the trolls! ;)

        • Muphry's law

        • +2

is that similar to Murphy's law?

    • Android people really hate hearing the truth don't they.

      • +1

No, the difference is that we all know you're not actually trolling Toad; you genuinely believe that drivel…that's just precious!

These Johnny-come-lately trolls are just poor imitators! :p

I got the last one at OW north Ryde. thanks for all your comments. making buying decession ezy and an excellent deal.

  • price matched at OW North Ryde. picked up the last one. stocks are limited at most ow.

    • the easiest price match in australia is OW Nth Ryde… West Ryde and Hornsby a close 2nd.

      • And five dock is one of the worst

  • I think Myer and Good Guys still stock this tab if chasing price match.

  • If OS update is not a concern, I think this may be better than Nexus 7. But I like updating OS, so I bought Nexus 7 ;)

    • That's my colleague told me after he bought his Samsung SG2 and he said next time he will go for a plus Google device.

But anyway depends people like some may want thin, larger and SUPER AMOLED Screen.

  • New tablets are quad cores now. Why buy old stuffs? Go for Nexus or Note 2

    • that often happens when emotional exceeds rational behaviours esp. when a group of people convince you to do so.

      • I agree, erm, you are talking about people falling for the whole quad-core marketing thing right?

        • -4

Stumo, say what you want. with android's un optimised code they need atleast 6 more cores before its completely smooth. so althought u may be right to think that those extra 2 cores are useless, ur actually thinking of iOS

  • For anyone wanting to utilize video recording, do not get this product as it has a serious bug atm post ICS, i have reported this in xda will post the link when i get back

  • I would take an IPS screen over SAMOLED any day of the week. SAMOLED loses colour saturation over time so it compensates for that by oversaturating it from the beginning to make it last longer. IPS has a longer shelf life and doesn't oversaturate.

    • Fair point. But I think battery would give out first, not to mention being a very old tech device. The screen on the GS1 still looks good.

      • What's old tech about IPS? Apple screens use them, as does HTC One X. They still look very good (I like the look better than SAMOLED/Pentile). Old does not necessarily mean bad or inferior.

If the battery will die out before the AMOLED loses its colour saturation then I'd rather they didn't oversaturate the colour to begin with.

  • Thanks OP, picked up a 32gb

  • Anyone from Melbourne looking to sell their 16gb version?

    • Got second thoughts on mine, but I'm in qld

  • So I'm taking mine back tomorrow after they (most likely) tried to rip me off with a display model - do you think I should call them out on this, or just take a refund? Would JB / OW still pricematch?

  • Got it from OW after price match

  • Got it from Officeworks in Toowoomba (Qld). Price match with 5% discount. Last one, although they had a display one available as well. I tried to get DSE to price match, but they refused.

  • Just received a call from HN Springvale saying they don't have stock for my order and hence they are going to refund my money. Very disappointing. does anyone know which OW may have stock in Victoria?

    • Mee too. Kinda glad I got the last one at ow Glen Waverley now.

  • Sydney Chatswood still have 32GB version according to the web site.

  • So no more stock anywhere?
