Soniq 10" Portable Blu-Ray Player - $99 @ JB Hi-Fi

330

JB were previously selling these at $299, last week they came down to $149 for the Family and Friends sale and now they've been reduced again to $99. Cheaper than pretty much any regular 10" Portable DVD player in stores. Blu-Ray + USB funtionality - it also has HDMI-out so you can use it as a Blu-Ray player for a TV. Free shipping online and most stores should have stock.

  • That is an awesome price! Does anybody know if these are region changeable like some of the other Soniq players?

  • Wonder if soniq has a code to make this all region?

  • -1

From a search online I couldn't find anything, though it's probably moreso that they aren't all that popular at their normal price so noone online has bothered posting a method up. I'll give Soniq a call on Monday and update the post - not sure how long the price is valid for though but hopefully it's longer than Monday.

  • this thread could be a good sign for region change.. - http://www.soniq.com.au/index.php/component/option,com_agora…

Sad story, really unfortunate, poor girl. I don't see how it is relevant here though?

    • +2

That's a Dick Smith branded DVD player.

      I'm not seeing the relation.

Just make sure it doesn't explode like one of these:

    • +3

      That was a DSE brand.

    battery life 1.5-2hrs…that's pretty poor…

    also…jpeg only? no divx?

Lol at the different reactions. Especially since there has been no support at all since I bought it and a few discs don't work on it. Not to mention the more options available instead since then.

LOL, we get different batch of audience from time to time. I guess back then they were busy looking for something else rather than a portable blu ray player. In order to get more votes, it has to be listed at the right time.

to moderator: to make it fair, I believe a neg vote for a comment should also include a reply as compulsory just like a neg for a deal requires a comment.

        • Lol

        • why? by coming to ozbargain? yes, that is for sure.

Does anyone know the resolution of these things?

  • -1

Hmmm, wait for another week. Maybe it will drop to 50, LOL! XD

  • +2

I bought this when it was $99 the first time (search ozbargain). Resolution is amazing. I always keep it plugged in in the car so not sure how long the battery would last exactly. Sound is ok but i get a distortion now and then, not sure if it's my player or a general problem.

Why, when u have a iPad or galaxy tab like me? >:)

    • +8

Because anybody can buy a bargain-priced disc from a store and insert it into the player. And it'll hurt less when your kid drops or spills apple juice on your $99 player rather than your $500 tablet.

  • Sharp, does yours play dixv?

  • -2

Are these the ones that have been catching fire ?

    • no…that was a DSE brand however any electrical item could catch fire ANYTIME no matter toys or TVs or PC so always cautious when using.

    • No. Those were Dick Smith (DSE) brands. There haven't (to my knowledge) been any reports of problems with the Soniq branded players. More importantly, the DSE ones have been recalled while these are still on the market. Completely difference products.

      • +1

Plus the DSE line had one (to our knowledge) faulty battery out of the tens of thousands of that exact model they produced. Definitely taking appropriate action on the recall but just a really unfortunate occurrence.

  • Ordered 2 to pickup last night, still haven't received the ready to pick up email.

How long does it usually take?

  • -1

Seems like DSE got hit hard in the nuts !;),jbhi did this sale purposly i guess!

    Quick review :
    - fantastic display
    - medium quality built
    - usb : no divX , only for picture , support usb up to 32Gs
    - include cheap case - headrest mountable, wall and car power charger
    - built in rechargeable but non placeable batterry …

  • Divx, or not? Not off USB, got that… But will it play them from disc? I did not see it listed in the manual, and am not sure..

  • the price went up to $149 now.

  • Darn it. :( i missed the bargain

  • One full charge lasted about 2 movies, not to bad !

    • Was that 2 x 180min movies or 2 x 90 min? What was your volume setting?

  • The deal is still on, just saw ye price tag at Bondi Junction store, they got about 8 left.
