    "free" gift card ;)

    • And what is the cost of this free gift card?

  • +4

$67 an inch? In this economy?

    • +18

my wife often asks me the same question.

      • +4

I'm pretty sure she can afford the $201 chadley.

LG C2 42 was 995 few days back. I was playing Atomic heart recently, it looked so good and immersive on a large screen, wont ever go back to 27" gaming again.

      • Yes same here. I have Gigabyte MU28 and now that I have used C2 42", I don't think I can go back to smaller screen for gaming.

        • I upgraded from 165Hz Dell DGF. I dont think most people can tell the difference between 120 Hz smooth frame paced vs 165hz without framerate being displayed on the screen.

        • o2saint, How did you find the M28U? I'm looking at upgrading to that or the M32U. Was 4k on the 28" a bit small?

I'll be using it for work/gaming so needs to be suitable for both.

  • -3

A 27 inch OLED monitor for about the same price as a 65inch OLED TV, how is this a deal?

    • Your 65" TV is only 120hz and requires a monster graphics card to power it.

This is purely targeted at gamers.

      • -4

        Ahh got it, a 55/65" 4k @ 120Hz = 27" 1440p @ 240Hz, because gamers.

What next, gaming chairs that cost about as much as a Herman Miller but are completely shit to sit on?

      • -3

240hz doesn't make much difference, except you have abnormal eyesight, and you still need a reasonable card for that. 4k still work fine with QHD contents, doesn't require a decent graphics, I use gtx1050 play game on 55" oled at FHD, better than most of the monitor. This 1.8k 27" monitor buyer need a brain check.

        • +6

240hz doesnt make much of a difference over 120? how do you even know what 240hz is like if you're still playing on a 1050? I understand that this monitor might not be affordable or suit your use case. But there is a huge difference in 240vs120hz if you play competetive esport titles. And there's nothing wrong with a manufacturer releasing a model which targets a specific sector of audience. dont like it? dont buy it. simple.

          • @kazer: 240 is a significant rise over 120hz for competitive games like Val & CS. It depends on the need and use case.

            I upgraded my 165hz monny to a 240hz 1440p alienware and it's a significant difference for me.

Plus, 1440p is much easier to hit those higher refresh rates compared to 4k, unless you have a 4090.

These panel sizes are also ideal for desks, compared to even a 42". For me the C2 is still too big and I won't go back to 120hz after gaming at 240.

            • @Shaunzki: After using C2 42, I wont go back to 27"165Hz Dell DGF. So like you said, its all use case based. Most people will definitely love a bigger monitor to game unless its competitive gamers. All my friends and thier kids all wanted to upgrade thier 27 inchers after seeing the C2 and gaming on it at my place.

          • @kazer: Because I build and setup pc for client, that is why I know what people feel. I don't care affordable or not, only need to suggest what's best for bucks. Funny you are paying premium for oled, what is the real benefit for gaming? And how many here need 240hz for esport contributions? Don't tell me using 100mbps internet for 240hz esports. Also, where is the ultra wide screen? isn't that a must have now?

        • supernatural

      • You need the same level of Graphics power AND also CPU power to get 240Hz at 1440P if you want to call out 4K's "120Hz" as GPU hungry.

      • Screen size makes no difference with resolution and refresh rate remaining the same

    • 55", but it's a fair point. These should quickly drive towards $1000.

Already shared some thoughts in the last deal post if anyone's curious.

      Thanks Jass, didn't see this

  • +3

    not even 4K

  • +7

    Thanks OP, bought 0.

  • +2

Man, just go for LG 42 C2, which is only $1000dollars the other day. Way larger and you don't really need 240hz if you are not professional FPS player

    • +3

Counter argument - I went from 144hz to 270hz and would never go back. Does make a difference for FPS. You need every advantage with SBMM lol.

      • +2

        People arguing that 120hz 4k is > 240hz 1440p clearly aren't playing competitive fps games OR haven't tried 240hz.

It's a significant difference and requires much less gpu power to push 1440p to these higher refresh rates.

        • -1

ppl that claim 240 hz gives you some edge over 144 hz in OLED have no clue and get their news from pcMag and LG website

          • @botchie: Damn people.

          • +1

@botchie: 240hz definitely gives an advantage over 144hz? Unsure what you mean by "in OLED".

Just look at 10-20 seconds of this to see - https://youtu.be/Q1cmhZs1P54?t=19
I upgraded from a 165hz monitor to a 240hz and it is 100% noticeable in fast paced FPS games.

OLED has much better motion clarity than IPS or VA panels no doubt tho, if thats what you meant regarding 'in OLED'.

            • -1

@Shaunzki: response time is more important then fps ,
              I've had 60 Hz ,144,. 240 and now I have 165 Hz oled
Biggest difference was going from 60 to 144, from 144 to 240 is nothing
Now back at 165 and can't tell again.
It definitely won't make you a better player if that want you mean , if you think it does well I have a bridge to sell you

              • +1

@botchie: Why are you stating these things like they are facts?
There is DEFINITELY a difference between 144 to 240. YOU may not notice the difference but it is there. Look at the link I shared. It is very much so a thing.
Response time is also important but that doesn't minimise the difference from 144 to 240hz.

                • +1

                  @Shaunzki: There is a difference , but it's not $1700 difference

                  • @botchie: now that I agree on - value isn't there right now on these newer 240hz OLED panels.

    • its funny because I read the title as a $360 monitor and I was wondering how you'd compare a $360 monitor to a $1000 monitor haha

  • +3

Just got the 42 inch 4k for half the price…this is such poor value in comparison.
The smaller the screen the less you need OLED imo

    • Half? You got it for ~$750? (Could easily sell the gift card from this deal for like $300.)

Not saying this monitor is good value though.

  • Would love to see LG replace this model with oled. It does bleed alot when the screen goes black but the other features makes up for it.

  • Buy 6 monitors get 1 free rtx 4060 laptop!

  • +1

I have been on 1080p/240 Hz on this size for a while and was pretty keen on the possibility of an OLED 1440p option with better response times, but this price is insane. You could have bought two 42 inch C2s for this money with the recent deal that was on, and there's no reason I can think of to explain that big of a cost gap, even taking into account the "smart TV discount" you get on the C2 because of the royalties they get from the bundled apps/Netflix button/selling all your usage data, other than greed and a lack of competition. Should cost around $800 IMO.

    • -2

32 inch Alienware is cheaper then this junk - who even games on 27 inches …..

      • People playing FPS games competitively tend to prefer 24 inch displays with 27 considered the upper limit of acceptable size.

        • -1

If your gonna play competitive then you play 1080p with setting to low
You don't need an oled 🤣

          • @botchie: The appeal of OLED in that segment of the market is the pixel response times rather than the static image quality.

            • -1

@xxBARGAINGODxx: You will find cheaper 360 Hz monitors with better response time then oled - all things combined

              • @botchie: I don't believe this is correct. You can watch any review that tests response times and see even the best LCDs do not come anywhere near OLED response times. You can argue that LCD monitors with worse response times like the XL2566K have subjectively superior motion handling, however, which I would agree with and more or less sums up why this is a disappointing product to many.

                • -4

@xxBARGAINGODxx: lets be frank here - unless you are a PRO gamer, and I mean pro gamer that plays professional these response times you speak of have no factual meaning, you cant see it, feel it, doesn't make you better or worse.
there are so many other variables at play, pooling rate of your mouse, keyboard input lag, ping, network connection….these kids that talk up fps and response times are just clowns

                  • @botchie: Bro, what you have been saying is objectively wrong. Why are you sharing your own personal opinion as fact?

    • +1

Early adopters tax. I also did it by paying 1500 for a C2 3 months back.

      • +1

Paid $1835 when it first dropped in price early July last year. I could've literally bought 2x C2 42" last week, but saying that I have been using mine for 8 months now and have 0 complaints. Good that I am not a "competitive fps gamer" who needs 240-500hz lol. Can never go back to anything smaller than 42" :)

  • Great Thanks, Lowe was looking for a spare monitor for his garage

  • Thanks OP, cancelled LG preorder and grabbed this one

Happy to help. At least someone is getting value out of my post :p

  • just a note, hardware unboxed have been notified that there’s a firmware update coming in April which will increase the panel brightness during gaming.

Apart from me, who else has been hanging out waiting to spray this deposit money on LGs face.

  • +1

Good reviews on this monitor, good 'discount' as well, but high end gaming monitors are so overpriced by default that it still doesn't look worth it. This and the Zowie deserve to have their price slashed by 40%.

  • $1800 for a 27” monitor , expensive

  • I just want a 16:10 or 16:9 32inch oled 1440p panel that’s 144hz

  • Wouldn't burn in be a thing for an OLED presenting static desktop elements?
