Where to go for notary to be used outside of Australia?

Hey Geeks, I am looking for doing Power of Attorney notary which to be used out side of Australia. I need to do notary for a document in Melbourne, who does the notary at reasonable price?

A literal two-second google gave me this: https://www.notaryservices.com.au/

If you want / need it done, you pay the fee.

The link above is to a single commercial enterprise. To be fair to other notaries, there is a public directory and you can find one at a location convenient to you. I've used several service providers over the years, and my general experience is the older school sole practitioners are generally cheaper than those attached to larger law firms but YMMV.

      • Sounds good; as I said, it was a two-second search

  • Do you happen to be travelling to said country any time soon and could just do it there?

I had a similar issue (luckily just for NZ and non-urgent) so just waited until I happen to be going there a few months later to help avoid the fees for doing it here.

  • Some foreign governments require the issuing countries' foreign ministries to certify documents that have already been notarised.
This is an additional step you may have to go through after getting it notarised by a notary public.

    See below for details.

Is your Melbourne document also a Power of Attorney? If so, just go to https://www.publicadvocate.vic.gov.au/your-rights/enduring-p… and download the form. Fill it out yourself, then take it to your local police station for signing, all for zero cost. I did it myself just a few weeks ago.

If your Melbourne document is not a Power of Attorney, then just look on the form to see who can sign it - most on the list do it for free.
