[Possible Price Error] Seagate Hard Drives and Other Things Going Super Cheap from an Amazon Seller

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

I imagine this is a mistake but it has been available for >10 minutes and has allowed me to make orders.

Although the shipping is quite steep (almost $36 for 1 hard drive) I have found a number of items for as low as 1c.

I managed to complete 1 order to make sure it worked (YES IT LET ME SHIP TO AUS!) so I guess we'll see how it goes from here.

Probably words lost in the world of OzBargain but try to minimised your orders to allow other people a chance (is Broden-ing still a thing on here?)

Mod:
Please note that the seller is a company called Original Wireless (website). All payments, credit card information and refunds are done by Amazon.com. Amazon does not charge until the item is shipped out.

Mod footnote 2:
With respect to items sold by Amazon, we cannot confirm the price of an item until you order; however, we do NOT charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

    Pricing error…

    • not sure, everything has a low price and all different prices. maybe if they were all like 1c then would be pricing error but this looks more like scam.

    • +3

if it's a pricing error does it mean it won't ship? last week my that "70's show" box set, which cost 1 c, that was sold by third party but fulfilled by amazon arrived…

      • +2

        This ism't fulfiled by Amazon..

        • +1

i know but yanno who knows maybe they'll get careless and ship without thinking to check.

        • +5

Well somethings ought to be fishy when they see hundreds of HDD orders heading towards AU at once.

    • In my last phase of payment recently, this msg pops out:

We're sorry. This item is no longer available from the seller you selected. We'll move it to the Saved Items section of your Shopping Cart. From there, you can click the item to return to its product information page and try another seller.

  • +3

I almost pulled the trigger but backed out at the last minute. Im sure it will end up with the money never being refunded etc. Mind you, its like a gamble, but how many companies honour pricing errors?

  • +10

I don't like the look of this. 1 or 2 items with the wrong price = probably a mistake, but the whole store? Fishy.

Probably best not to buy anything.

  • +3

If it was sold by amazon I'd take the risk, but since amazon is just the go between, not so sure

  • They cant access your credit card details though can they? Amazon acts as an intermediary between you and the supplier?

  • So if this turns out to be a scam, I won't be able to get my money back from Amazon? Dang, I just bought 3…

    • +1

link looks real to me, just wouldn't risk buying it just in case I don't get my refund if they don't ship.
It starts with amazon.com so it has to be a real link. maybe if it was amazon.lp.me I would be concerned.

    • +3

are u sure i just ordered one

otherwise iwill need to ring my bank and cancel?

      • +3

These guys aren't Kogan. They will most likely not honour price mistakes. Probably consider cancelling the transaction if its still early.

    • +3

      whose mentor?

      • +5

        Think he meant moderator.

        He's post should read…

        "Clueless!!!!

        Ignore me….
        Post is based on nothing!
Moderator needs to ban me now!!!"

        • +1

No, I think he meant Mentos!

As in, this deal could blow up like a pack of Mentos in 2 litres of Diet Coke! :p

    • +1

You can search for the offer through Amazon by not clicking the link. Not endorsing the offer though…

    • +3

      Just got the internet huh?

  • +5

Link doesn't appear to be fake? What do you mean? All links, including cart and password etc, go to www.amazon.com

  • just spent $218

  • +1

Something in the system must have stuffed up.
Definitely not worth the risk/hassle ordering.

    • i just cancelled my order for 20

  • +3

I've read theres a very long process for refunds with Amazon. Good luck..

    • +7

The person who negged me #regrets buying 200 drives :)

    • I got one pretty quickly the other day, but that was for Amazon stock. This is a 3rd party, right?

      • Yes sir!

  • +5

Despite my better judgement I just bought one. I decided I can afford to lose $38 for a 2TB drive shipped even if it goes bad. I spend more than that on half a tank of fuel twice a week.

Its like gambling, I shall let you know how it ends up!

    • -1

please do id like to know!

    • +7

"I spend more than that on half a tank of fuel twice a week." Why don't you just fill up a full tank once a week? And save yourself the time it takes to drive in and out of service station?

      • +2

what if he lives next to the station?

      • +2

He's willing to lose $38 to buy a hard drive, do you think he's smart enough to work that one out… he probably thinks it costs twice as much!

  • I put the a couple of items in my cart, and didn't check out.

If for some reason they do ship, I'll be kicking myself ;)

edit: scratched that purchased a 2TB HDD - $36 shipped lol

  • +5

AS IF this merchant is going to ship a 2Tb drive for 1 cent.

Wake up! You are DREAMING! Do you believe in FAIRIES?

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGNGl7VluHU = this merchant's prices

    • +3

lol, good one…..even so some will think they will still ship, then start complaining when the 1c hdd doesn't arrive

      • yes, there is wishful thinking, and then there is mere foolishness.

  • Just spent a lot of money! Hope all will be good!

  • +9

here's what will probably happen, order goes through ok, 1-2 days later you get a "sorry due to an error with the [insert excuse here] your order has been cancelled and the funds will be returned within 3 weekdays", but i suppose if you make a lot of noise and complain they might throw you a consolation prize of something like a 10% discount voucher…

  • I thought buying through Amazon was pretty safe? even if a 3rd party seller? ie no or very low chance of fakes etc??

    • The no (or very low) chance of fakes from Amazon does not apply to 3rd party sellers.

  • It would seem you pay for it in the shipping ie 1 X scanner $5.95 and shipping is $50 same as the Home se3curity @ $5.95 and shipping $100 and all those security cam units available on ebay at that price :( I wished it was true :(

  • +1

    Don't really even remember what I ordered……

  • I think it is probably similar, jus tin reverse to this incident of the $23M book
    http://idle.slashdot.org/story/11/04/26/141247/amazon-automa…
Will most likely not be honoured but might be worth a gamble if you've got some lazy cash.

  • +15

At the rate these hard drives have been dropping, i think i will wait :D

    • can't drop lower than 1c, oh wait, BOGOF for 1c…

  • +4

    http://www.amazon.com/imageFORMULA-DR-9050C-Sheetfed-Scanner…

    LOL $16 000 machine for only $9 + shipping!

Okay… I'm siding with everyone else on this, definitely not getting shipped.

I have one of those switches here, they are pretty decent, they go for around 400-500 on ebay. 4x10gbe copper ports as well which is really nice.

      • There was another store on Amazon selling that same switch for ~$35. Only 3 in stock and no shipping to AU. Seems to be sold out now anyway. Might be a pricing error with an upstream supplier? (plenty of stores automate their list of things for sale by simply pulling a list from suppliers and adding a fixed percentage mark up)

  • -3

i went all the way to the checkout then noticed they dont suport paypal so definatly wont buy anything

    • +3

      Amazon never has AFAIK

  • -2
    • +2

That's some damn fast delivery right there.

      • +2

It's The Hoff, how long do you think it takes him to swim there and back?

  • Heh, just did a stack of orders for 1-2 drives each over a 30 accounts.

Want me another 60 enterprise drives.

  • Must admit I do like the look of this computer for $6.50:
    www.amazon.com/EeeBox-EB1501P-B016E-Nettop-Computer-Intel/dp…

    And this Camera for $2.99:
    http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Camera-Red-3-5-Touchscreen-Z…

But the pricing on their whole shop is messed up, there are thousands of items with pricing mistakes:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=A…

Obvious pricing mistake is obvious, I wouldn't waste my time having to go through the refund.

    • Just ordered the Panasonic camera $38 shipped!! See if it gets cancelled tomorrow

  • +2

Agreed Jonsnow, I have a feeling people will complain regardless of hindsight.

  • Hahaha or the alternative, fully load up, if you're gonna get one item refunded.. prob same hassle as 10 (or 100)…

just saying… probably everyone cancelling orders will highlight error even more.
    just saying

  • +1

Yup. Maybe if one person had made an order, he would've gotten away with it. But no one is going to get what they ordered here… I'm sure Amazon has a "pricing error" clause somewhere in their T&C.

  • Yep, most likely pricing error

  • If its a mistake and everyone is commenting on it .. why not neg it to make it clear to other users who don't read the threads?

    • a mod has made a footnote about it

      Good to know, thanks dude.

    • +7

Your purchases from third-party sellers are charged at the time you place your order, and third-party sellers may follow different policies in the event of a mispriced item.

      • +17

Not good to know, thanks dude.

  • I just spent $79. First time buyer on Amazon and you guys are saying It is fake?? MY luck., sigh
Should have read the comments first…

    • +3

      Nice Fail :)

    • +6

How could you seriously think that this was a legitimate sale?

At best you were trying to rip off an unsuspecting seller who hadn't realised his prices were wrong, and hoping that they didn't notice before the item shipped.

At worst you have been scammed and probably deserve it. You can't cheat an honest person.

      • An honest bargain is the best bargain!

      • -3

        Look everyone, the moral police

  • +2

I've had Amazon cancel orders on me before due to a pricing error of about $20 difference, it's going to happen with these for sure. And if you complain, what are you going to say when they ask you if the price is ridiculous?

  • +1

    Shipping & Handling: AUD 1,032.20

Wouldn't have got them anyway but eh..

    • +2

      ????

      • +4

Would be for 30 odd hdds.

        • Yeah. Why don't they stack the shipping somewhat?

  • +1

couldn't resist the slight chance it works out

  • +1

Ordered 1 for lulz. Hasn't charged my credit card yet so might not even need to get a refund if they just cancel order…

  • +6

So many negs will be coming this way in the next 24 hours. There is no way that the seller can honour these prices as they would go broke.

  • +5
    • +3

How awesome would that be. It would be the all time bargain. You could never beat it.

    • +1

      thanks.
      ordered! :)

  • +4

This is funny, obvious pricing errors, but if Amazon honours these prices, I'm going to kick myself for not giving it a go…

    • Me too…

    • +4

      don't worry, they won't

  • +15
  • +7

Ahh, I think Amazon is gauging how much traffic comes from OzBargain before offering to buy out Scotty. :)

    • +2

Scotty does great work, but I'm down for more reliable and cheaper US delivery lol

  • -1

Ordered $14 , but $149 for postage . SO I withdrew the order . Look like genuine Amazon as I was not able to see my previous order and address …

  • +1

Not going to bother with this. When Original Wireless come to work tomorrow, they have a lot of cancellations and sorry emails to write. I can't imagine for a second that they will fulfill such a large quantity of crazy orders.

    • +1

This does assume it's not all automated… who knows? definitely a lot of comments on this thread!

      will be interesting tomorrows comments
