Don't need it but always wanted to have one. Saw it today in Liverpool NSW Big W. Couldn't find a link for it, in store only probably. Capable of shredding 9 sheets at the same time, also cd, credit card etc.

Also they have a monitor riser for $4 ($45.95 RRP)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won’t like this deal.

  • Instead of shredding your sheets, why don't you just wash your bed linen sheets instead. They can't be that stiff.

    • +2

When I was in the Halls of Residence I loaned my room to a couple who needed some “alone time”. Let’s just say I should’ve shredded the sheets.

  • You can start a shredding business now lol

  • +3

RRP is bs, these things are like $40 last time I checked, but that doesn't change the fact that these are a bargain at $15

  • Says p25s. Is this it https://www.bigw.com.au/product/fellowes-p-25s-strip-cut-shr…
Also says 5 sheet limit in the box, not 9.

  • This one, it was at the back row on shelves, may be someone was trying to hide them :)

  • I’ve been through a few of these… suspect the trick to keeping them working longer is to maintain them properly but when they’re this cheap, unfortunately it’s easier to replace than repair/maintain.

    • +1

What maintenance? Just chuck some cheap vegetable oil on a sheet of paper and chuck it through occasionally.

      • +1

I never looked into it besides seeing shredder oil for sale at officeworks before. My biggest killer is probably from me putting too many pages in at once.

  • Is it likely that it would be reduced in other stores too, or does each store tend to set their own prices (e.g. to address overstock)?

  • +8

Feels like a wasted effort shredding old letters and statements when these days I'd probably cop ID theft or spam through some company being hacked instead …

  • Which NSW store was this? edit: Liverpool thanks

  • Shredders don't have a long working life. Good deal at this price.

    • Wouldn't it depend on use?? I have a cheap BigW branded one that has been going strong for years

      • We spent about $150 and it only lasted a couple of years. Maybe 3. Occasional household use.

    • Except for photos that bring up hurtful memories of past loves, which are only partially combustible.

Someone will always be able to retrieve a fragment of that photo from the ashes, and shed a tear after tossing it back in.

With no local paper produce anymor these shredders become obsolete… to some extent

    • +1

You don’t get letters, receipts, tax, or medical documents like prescriptions?

      • Sometimes I tear those apart, taking attention to sensitive areas, or sometimes when accumulate a pack of papers - take them with me to my office and shred them over there

        • +11

Ah so this shredder is obsolete because you have access to a shredder. That makes sense.

        • Teenage mutant ninja turtles have left the chat.

Thanks to Optus, medibank and Lattitude finance, i no longer need to shred documents.

All my details, credit card number, passport number, medicare number , passport number, etc is readily available at sptth\;moc.darkweb.mmm\easternculture

    • +1

Ouch. I got 2/3 but you got the holy trinity!

    • +4

That sucks Mr Steven Caleb, located at 40 Adavale Road North Balgowlah NSW 2093 with phone number 0428 327 236.
      Really really sucks

      Also same (Optus hack)

      • Lols for a moment i thought it was real until i noticed the address doesn't exist, but some poor person with that phone number is gonna get the s**** as to why people keep looking for a Steven Caleb………

        • +2

Haha. I would never dox some innocent person lol

The number isn't connected, I tried it before I posted it to make sure it wasn't a valid number…
The address is basically a combination of 2 different addresses via a 'Random Address Generator' just to make sure it's 100% not a valid (or real) address

    • Lattitude finance

Ah shit, I didn't know about this one, but I had a credit card with them before :(

  • Just checked at Liverpool: the only model left is the 36C which isn't reduced at $119. The 9CD model seems to be sold out. Good luck if you can find it at another store!

    • Did you check in the freezer lol

      • Tepid wordplay there

  • +1

light use only, they overheat quickly and don't last long, unless thin paper don't expect to feed 9 sheets at a time into it. but for the price a good cheap disposable item.

    • It's not a commercial unit so absolutely no way would you be able to shred 9pgs continuously

  • Hi Op,

Your picture is showing a different model, can you post your receipt?

    • +1

changed the image, please check it again

      • How many were there when you bought yours?

  • None at Lavington. Walked away with the 6-sheet model thinking it was it then was shocked to realise it was $119 :O No thanks!

  • Got the same one had it for 10 years

  • Good enough for a small home office. I use the shredded paper as padding in seldom packages I send. Strong, light and voluminous.

  • Handback your ozbargain licence. Didn't use discounted GC to pay or a rewards card…

  • These aren't that great, overheat really quickly so you can't shred much at a time. Also it definitely can't fit 9 sheets at a time, not too sure what type of paper they're using to claim that 😅

    • Papyrus that they found with a mummy in Africa. Those are razor thin due to age.

  • +1

How about being your own shredder and saving yourself $15

  • Good pasta&noodle maker.

  • RRP for $150 is just ridiculous for a shredder that can barely manage 9 sheets. I'd say it's worth $30 tops.

    • nah, 150 is about right. wouldn't spend full price, but would purchase for $99

  • Does the shredder come with the 9 sheets to shred or do we have to purchase those separately?

  • The world's toughest, but only for light use.

  • Went earlier today. None in stock.

  • as id only need for myself, ill stick to ripping my documents in half and putting them in the sink with some water.
after scrunching them up, throw away.

if it works for any paperwork i leave in my pants and accidentally wash them, then it works for me.
