Discounted annual fee for new cardholders who satisfied minimum spending requirements within 3 months of card approval.

Just noticed this and wish I'd checked before I got my current card, looks like it's been listed on Member Advantage since May 2021.

It's at least available via the NTEU, not sure about other organisations. From what I can see, all benefits on the Edge and Charge are as normal, so you actually come out ahead with the Edge after the travel credit, for example. The annual fee discount appears to be ongoing, so well worth it if you want to get and hold one of these cards.

    If one signed up with the 325k MR bonus points deal, can he ask AMEX to apply this deal to get the reduced annual fee? Or he has to wait for 18 months?

  Isn't it for new applications when using the links from some institutions?
  You will be better off to use the refferal links (for instance from Ozbargain) and get bonus rewards points exceeding the reduced annual card fee. In addition Amex occasionally has promotions when they give lots of points for signing up.

      But what about people who already have an AMEX (and thus don’t qualify for the big bonus referral signups)? They would have to cancel the AMEX and wait minimum 18months to apply yeah?

      I guess this might be useful to those (like myself sadly).
