  • I believe this notebook has been available a couple of times around this pricing, I paid $10 more a month back. This laptop is priced well around the $1400 mark IMO.

$10 more?… u paid too much :) tiz the OZBargain way

looks like that video card is holding the system back?

    • +1

Unless you game it wont be a problem…It is the slowest component of the system as far as the Windows 7 WEI score is concerned tho!

    • Every single time… It's an ultrabook: you don't buy it for the video card.

  • isnt this around or under 1100 before? not a bargain at all :(

    • Turn that frown upside down, maybe you are thinking the 13" model!

      • +1

I've been looking into the new Samsung 9 laptops and the 13" actually has a better screen than the 15" according to the people at Whirlpool

Cheapest I've seen the 13" go for is around $1130 with a price match at JB Hifi (other than the $500 HN cash back)

Wonder if we can get the rep here to do a better deal on both the 13" and 15"

        • Correct the screen is better on the 13" model, but if you want a 15" ultrabook you cant go past this model.

        • +1

We would be willing to work with you if we can get enough people confirmed at a certain price.

        • +1

I'm also after the 13" model and would be interested at around the $1150 mark.

        • +1

          Shipped?

      • +1

        He is thinking the 13"

    • My fault, was thinking about 13 inch

A flood of new Ultrabooks targeted for Windows 8 release are due to launch with Windows 8 in late October.

It will be a very competitive Ultrabook market around late October through to Christmas.

If you can be patient for two months I think you would be able to pick up one of these for a lot less than 1400.

    • Good advice!!!!!!!

    • +1

Maybe, maybe not. In the 13" realm the samsung has competition, in the 15" realm there is no competition. I would say the biggest cuts will be on the sizes where there is competition. Thats not to say the 15" wont go lower, just probably not as fast or low as the 13"

      • I think the competition is the new Macbook, but that is way overpriced.

        • I presume you mean the Macbook with retina display, as you say its more expensive ($800 more) and weighs over 20% more than the samsung. The samsung has up to 10 hours battery life as opposed to the 7 on the Macbook.

I decided to just buy an macbook air and install windows.
Best decision i've ever made :)

    • macbook air is either 11" or 13", not 15" like the one on the original post.

    • +1

And that's relevant to this bargain how?

    • +1

I decided to read your comment.
Worst decision I've ever made :(

  • I bought one of these throgh Harvey Norman a month back when they had the $500 cash back on Ultrabooks. After cash back it cost me $1,398. All advertising said it was an I5 processor but the AU version is actually an I7. refer here http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-peripherals/notebook-p…

Not sure that this one is the same but I have seen it advertised in a few places now including JB and they say I5 but in the store they are I7.

    Very happy with mine.

    • You are correct sir. We have just updated the spec.

The resolution is good. Other than that, I see no reason why it is more expensive than a MBA.

    • +2

      maybe this one is upgradable?

      • +1

You can upgrade the ram and ssd in the 15" model, the same as what the OP has listed.

I have put 16gb in mine as well as a 256gb SSD.

    • +1

It's more expensive than an air cause it's 15"!

  • i have this one from JB too …screen is too bright, but the performance is great …would rather the 13" if it had 8GB RAM and better chip

    • There was a colour profile that someone uploaded on notebook forums that may improve your display of the 15". It made the picture a little better IMO, not that I had any complaints before.

      • thanks, yeah i had tried a few different colour profiles and the ones mentioned online but it didn't really make it look totally right, ended up just going back to default

  • +1

Wish this one comes with 1920 x 1080

    • That would be awesome, but alas, we can only wait. Still, better than the 1366 x 768 rabble.
