      • ok was looking at the smaller 58

      • Just book a maxi taxi

      • Perhaps it'll fit in a convertible 🤷😂

    • Yes

    • No. That was only the case for plasma TV's

Edge Lit on 85 inches LOL

    Posted from my OLED Panel.

Pay no more for this Blaupunkt tv then you would pay for any basic generic TV of the same size and specs.

Blaupunkt are now just a marketing company that slaps its logo onto cheap Chinese panels.

I bought one several years ago because I'm old enough to remember when Blaupunkt used to be a respectable brand. What I received the worst LCD panel I've ever owned. Sluggish interface, patchy backlighting, terrible viewing angles.

Fortunately it broke within the first month and I got a refund.

I picked up a budget 32" FFalcon from JB a few months back and, while the picture was ok, the software was absolutely awful - slow, buggy, unstable.

    • Didnt using Chromecast or FireTV help?

  • +1

As all of the above, we have a Blaupunkt tv and its absolutely horrendous - even the remote has never worked properly. Tread carefully.

  • +1

If all you want is size. This will do the job. The panel itself is very average.
Colours are washed out and impossible to tune to look remotely how their supposed to. Blacks are grey and patchy, whites have dark spots.

The OS is not bad, it runs WebOS which the LG oleds run and can get all the usual apps and connectivity. It also had the same smart, pointer remote which seems to work well .

Overall if you can get past the image quality, it's ok for the price and size you get. If you don't care or just want it for background viewing or for the kids or something then it's fine.

  • Bought the 75” model when it was on sale for $699 and returned it immediately due to extremely poor build quality even by generic tv standards.

If you’re looking for a cheap tv buy the EKO from Big W and you will not go wrong

    • What was the problem specifically? Did it melt like a clock?

  • Some people just want Sony, LG or Samsung, I believe they make quality TV with "PREMIUM PRICE TAG". What big TV will they suggest for $945 or below $1k? Will they say pay more or get a small screen as most of them also avoid TCL and Hisense?

    • +1

TCL and Hisense are both OK build quality these days, just don't get the lowest model in their range (which would be edge lit like this one). The people who say don't get one bought a TCL 5-10 years ago and frankly shouldn't be contributing to a discussion about completely different products.

      • TCL have been decent for more than a decade

      • +1

True, but it really depends on so much you can really only trust if you have seen the model in person.

For example - when I bought my EKO a lot of people had them and said they were crap - the one I had is really nice, menus are snappy and for once doesnt need a soundbar

  • Have a 75 inch Blaupunkt 4k tv from the JB sale last year think I paid $685 delivered , it replaced a Sony 70 inch HD tv, to be honest the Sony had a heap better picture.
Like others have said get the Samsung 75 over the 85 Blaupunkt.

    • Yep and pays 3 times the price of this one..

just wondering if firetv works well with this?

    • Why wouldn’t it?

  • the 65" is at officeworks for $647, 55" for $497

  • Sweet deal.

Does anyone have issues with TVs only carrying one year warranty? What’s ACCC’s take on this?

    • The ACL takes Price paid into account with what is a 'reasonable' expectation, that said it seem JBHIFI provide a store warranty to cover it for 2 years .. which is likely to keep the ACCC happy ,, but YMMV

  • good price
