But can you CR with this?

    • +2

Might be able to, but even without CR it's cheaper.

      7% of $181.82 is $12.73 cashback

This is a straight up $14 discount, assuming you're paying with a card with zero currency conversion fees

      • +8

Also Cashrewards is flaky and may not track.

    • CR seems to have been activated but I can't checkout for some reason. Gives me the below error when entering Aussie address:

Our records show that you are registered in Australia. Would you like to switch to Australia? Otherwise, please contact Member Services to complete your transaction.

Anyone else have this issue? Any workarounds?

  • +15

I must be the only person on OzBargain who finds this deal expensive.

    • +5

What makes you think that? Seems like a pretty good deal if it includes a 1 night stay, assuming you stay somewhere that's not ibis budget

      • +4

My accommodation budget is usually lower than $190/night in most places, definitely in SE Asia..

        • -1

may as well spend $5 less and get a 5 star hotel ?

        • +2

I don’t think it’s limited to SE Asia.

        • +5

Better value if used in places AU, NZ, SG.. otherwise you're right, my budget in SE asia is usually ~$100-120 per night

Plus welcome drink if you fancy that 🤣

The deal is also comes with half price dining which is really the deal for me

          • +2

@b0b0: 80 to 100 higher than my hotel budget in SE Asia.

          • +6

@b0b0: I've read a lot of the comments on the previous incarnations of this deal. Many people seem to be buying it to get their "free night" as a one-off stay at some posh hotel like the Sofitel. It's good if you're adding that onto a longer stay, but the merit of buying the membership to grab a heavily-discounted one-night-stand is lost on me!! ;)

And regarding the food, granted it's a personal thing, and continuing with the SE Asia theme (my travel region in the next year), hotel buffets and restaurants are usually not the type of places I want to eat when I'm travelling in the region.

PS: I'm not knocking the deal at all, it's just not made for me!

            • +6

@Charlie Dont Surf: What's this fascination with S.E. Asia? Use it at home in Australia

              • +1

@xsacha: I thought I made it clear in my post. That's where I am travelling in thr next year.

            • +4

@Charlie Dont Surf: Pay a little extra and get the version that has 2 nights free, that's what I did. Worth it for me.

              • +4

@TEER3X: What version is that? I can only see a 1 night version

            • +1

@Charlie Dont Surf: What’s wrong with staying one night at the Sofitel ? You can’t find much cheaper than $199/night in Sydney.

            • @Charlie Dont Surf: Not a true OzBargainer 😂😂

            • @Charlie Dont Surf: I agree with this. I know many who buy it for the 1 night in the city at a Sofitel. I don't know about other people, but we rarely stay in the city, so I'm not about to pay $200 for something that I don't have much value in.

On the other hand, I do understand it if you add it onto an existing trip, or are using it on as part of a trip/break/whatever.

I've got the membership that doesn't include a free night, which I paid for using Accor points. I find this one more useful for me, since I use Accor hotels all the time for work, so I am able to eat extravagantly while fitting into the work food budget.

          • +1

@b0b0: Is the half price dining for Asia only or can you use it in Europe? Does anyone know?
When I search for some restaurants in France, it comes up in the below, but not sure if 50% dining is honoured there.

            https://www.accorplus.com/restaurants/?destination=France&lat=48.856614&long=2.3522219&radius=545403.888&unit=KM

It does say 'Across Asia Pacific' though. Conflicting info?

          • +2

@b0b0: I work at the Novotel in Cairns, sometimes our rooms can go up to $600pn in school holidays. I'd say this is a bargain if you can get a room in those times.

But also come up any time as it's a beautiful resort.

        • Try to find ones in gold coast or sunshine coast for under $200/night..

          • @leiiv: I'd be more than happy booking the Meriton Suites Broadbeach for $179/night and not having to switch hotels.

            • @Charlie Dont Surf: Good find :)
I guess it depends on what dates are blocked to claim the accor free nights then.

        • I needed 1 night in Sydney for an event we were going to and accommodation anywhere is much more than that. With this I got to stay at the Soffitel and get a free welcome drink (having dinner elsewhere so won't be using that part of the membershop, at least then anyway…) Is a good deal for me.

    • It's a decent deal if you have a trip planned but haven't bought tickets.

If you use the restaurant 50% off you will get quite a few meals below standard price. Each time you go out is probably going to be worth about $20(technically more like $40 saving but because you limit your options and hotel restaurants always large more so I'm reducing to make it fair)

Would need the free hotel stay at min $100, cheap deals that pop up for places and using restaurants in the day 3-4 times a year will be imo will make it about worth it.

      Get a gf

      • +7

        Any deals?

    • It's $185 for a free night and you get the benefits of accor plus

A standard night is around $185-300+ depending on the hotel

  • +6

These Accor deals are getting cheaper.

    HK > AU > NZ

Who’s the champion that will find a cheaper Accor Plus membership?

And i cant join again because it says that i already registered in malaysian..what a bull, need to contact accorplus when i have a chance

      • Hi do you have a link please?

  • -1

    Lol…

  • +1

dumb question: what's the benefit of this membership? Is it worth it if we only have one trip a year?
    Thanks

    • +3

Depends a bit on your budget and tastes but given most semi decent hotels are over $199 a night, the free night at a hotel will be a benefit.

Then you get some other discounts on room prices + 50% off food (for 2 people)

Was a no brainer for me

    • +1

Is the trip to a place where Accor has a property? Does the property allow you to use the free night? Are you flexible with dates in case a night is not available? If no to any of these, then no it isn't worth it.

Edit: Unless the restaurant discount appeals.

      • I guess the free night is for a 2-person bedroom?

  • +5

Is there a list of restaurants that offer the 50% off?

    Edit: found it https://www.accorplus.com/restaurants/

    • +7

Any buffet restaurants? Gotta milk every $ we spent for the membership

      • +9

Yeah, the ones owned by Warren

      • Buffet breakfast yes, but can't speak for the rest

        • +1

Do you know if one card means 50% off 2 adults & 2 kids, or is kiat 2-4-1 adults & you pay for the kids?

          • +1

@M00Cow: I opted for the secondary membership for extra $30. Came in handy at Sofitel Broadbeach. They counted the kids as adults however since I bought my wife the secondary Accor we were able to get 50% off the total bill. The kids only ordered kids food too… 2 adults and 2 kids with 2 Accor membership was 50% off… If I only had my Accor membership it would've been only 25% off.

            • +1

@R3XNebular: How do I get secondary card? I’ve just purchased mine & didn’t get the option for a 2nd

              • +2

                @Yafuturefavorite: https://accorplushelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-au/articles/36004060…

When registering I was given the option but if you've already registered use the above link. Can purchase within two months of your renewal

                • @R3XNebular: $30 jeez that's good, the main page has them for $159. Was it offer on the second page or after entering your credit card? I get it offered $159 using the normal page, but not on the feel page.

Did you do it via the NZ page?
Also how is the brekkie of Sofitel?

          • @M00Cow: Depends on the venue and what till system they use, where I work the till can't separate children vs adult meals so the discount applies to everything which means we need to count the children too. Unless we do 2 transactions which when you have a line of people waiting to order can seriously hold up the que.

    • What’s with the ‘up to 50 per cent off’? What is the usual reduction or fairly varied?

      • +2

From the comments in the aus version of this post:

“The % varies depending on the number of people you're dining with. 50% is for 2 people, but it's less for 3-4. See the other recently posted deal for the breakdown in the comments.” -Thanks @colblair

“This 50% off is based on 2 people eating.
1 person is 25% off the bill
        3 people is 33%
        4 people is 25%
After 4, it is only 25%. I think the max is 8 people.

Another trick is you can gift an accor plus day pass (I think you get 2 a year?) to your friend and split that bill between 2 parties of 2 people.” -Thanks @Jetkuma

        • Purchase the secondary card for $30 on sign up. Or buy the entire membership again to claim on another night somewhere…

        • How's about wife and mistress? what's the discount?

        • Thanks for your response. One more question - I’m assuming that as long as it’s from the participating restaurant that it would apply to poolside food? Would be great if also applied to pool swim-up bar!

          • +1

@fookos: Often it will be valid, but it depends upon the hotel.

  • Could someone please check free nights in Tokyo 11-13 and 19-21 May, Osaka 13-17 May, Kyoto 17-19 May? Thanks a lot!

  • Sorry to be that person, could someone have a check for me what hotels show up in the blue mountains (NSW) and if any availability shows on a Friday to Saturday night?

    Thanks!

  • Tried booking Sofitel or Pullman singapore but no availability for next 6 months :(

    • can you please check availability in Sydney Sofitel - 28-29 April?

  • +1

Can use renew your membership with this?

  • Decided to jump and bought this one. Cashrewards tracked by pasting the link into my already activated browser window but will see if it’s accepted.

Is there an app to browse the available restaurants? The website is terrible and hard to discover options.

  • +1

What happens if I have to cancel booking within the free cancelation period? Can I re-book?

    • +1

Someone on the other thread mentioned that they lost their free night by cancelling or it was a shit fight to try and get the night reimbursed

  • Are Mercure hotels included for the free night? Example the Tokyo property.

  • Does the 50% off apply at frenzy’s Southport buffet?

  • In early august, for the complimentary night (2 adults 1 infant under 1) any availability / eligibility on the below 5 star stays in Bali (preferably weekend)?

    • Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua beach
    • Raffles Bali
    • Peppers Seminyak

    Thanks

    • i checked and Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua is $51 for a luxury room, usually $232, price goes up from 04/08, the others arent there

      • I noticed that everywhere in Qld, pacific & Asia there's either nothing or very expensive in Aug. I wonder why that is?

        • Peak season as its 24 degrees and blue skies, also school holidays too.

          • @Jezzabell: School hols is late june-mid July this year. Which is why i was looking at Aug.

    • +1

@altorive a thanks would be nice

      • -2

Thanks. Decided not to go ahead.

  • Can anyone recommend accomodation and restaurant in Melbourne?

  • just joined , Thanks OP!

  • Is the 10% off best rate usually cheaper than Expedia/Booking.Com with a cashback?

Or are most people just signing up for the free night?

    • +4

Depends on the hotel. Some hotels you can get cheaper on Expedia/Booking even without cashback.

It looks like people are joining just to be able to stay in a $300+ hotel for $185, ignoring the fact that they may be able to get a similar quality non Accor hotel for $185 anyway from other sources.

      • +1

        Thanks for the breakdown mate

  • Any free nights available in Sydney cbd mid May? Thanks!

  • It is a really good deal if you do have plans to travel to places where decent hotels can cost more than $200 a night (eg. Syd, Mel, Singapore, etc)

I've booked Fairmont hotel in Singapore for a night. Typically $450-500 a night.

    • +1

So where do you plan to stay after that? Im going to Singapore too but still undecided if worth the hassle just for one night then move to a cheaper one after that.

  • Anyone have any luck getting a sup card?

I tried the online chat, mentioned the family & friends deal and I was told it's not for the public, i said I have a friend who works at Sofitel & they gave me the link, but they refused to answer any questions or be helpful. I asked if I need ti get my friend to sign me up on their behalf. They refused to answer. I kept asking if using the normal signup, how do i get a sup card and they just said "I've answered all your questions there's nothing else.I can help you with" i asked how much a sup card is, but again conversation shutdown.

Sounds like they've been Ozbargained and fot the poops. Oh well.

    • How much is the sup card? I could not find any information on it.

      • Some one above said they of paid $30. But if you're paying full freight its $159

  • @runamuck - we've booked a cheaper hotel in the vicinity for the remaining nights. It's just a nice treat. Plus i look forward to take advantage of the dining options.

  • Has anyone had any experience with a large table (say 8 people) and using multiple memberships to get to the 50% discount? Not sure how this would go if they don't split bills

    • +1

I have done this with 6 people and 3 cards.

They just add the multiple memberships to the bill and it reduces it to 50%. We just handed them our cards and they walked off to punch it into the computer, and came back with the adjusted bill.

This was at the restaurant in Sofitel Darling Harbour

      • Legend.. exactly what I wanted to hear.. appreciate it
