Will it work in my Tesla Model 3?

    • +1

yes, using 1tb in M3 and MY

      • 500gb is more than enough for the longevity of reading and writing. 1Tb is overkill. I am hoping to get a 500gb around $50. (There was a $39 deal but probably never come back)

  • How reliable are these. Will it outlast a normal hdd.

    • Very reliable in terms of SSD’s

      • +1

I have hdd lasting more then 10 years. This should be longer?

        • +5

          Sure, with your luck, apparently!

No one's going to promise you that though.

        • HDD have moving parts, SSD do not, therefore less likely for something to fail.

    • +1

SSD is much better than a HDD for portable devices because no moving parts.

  • +1

Well I guess that one I bought from Amazon is heading back now

    • $10 more + easier returns for same day delivery as opposed to at least 4 day delivery may be worth it

      • Nah I bought for $230 a couple days ago, so this is an easy $50 difference

  • Is this suitable for a PS5 ?

    • Suitable to play your ps4 games on ps5, or to store your ps5 games which you need to move back to internal drive before playing them.

      • I assume at 1050MB/s it takes less than a minute to copy most games over?

        • +1

Haven’t done that myself but assuming you have added a 2tb internal ssd with heatsink and still struggling with space then yeah this is not a bad option.

  • NAND flash and DRAM are getting cheaper given decrease demand and excess supply

    Good option for Series X?

    • I have used 256, 512 and currently a 1TB T7 touch consistently with a Series X. The SSD has been the primary and a 2.5” spinner as a secondary - moving current games to the primary for good speeds.

      Bulletproof and reliable to date.

      • Sounds good - I'll get the 1 TB one then. Thanks!

    • My kids use one on their series s. Great storage and really fast transfers. Can play some games directly from it, but not optimised games (forza / 2k).

  • Just couldn't follow up the pace of the electrical products development

I bought my T5 2TB for $290 in March 2020, now T7 is almost only half the price but double the speed.

    ERGHHHHHH

    • +1

I know how you feel…. I got a T5 500MB for $79 last year and thought I did well but it is now full and I don't have spare cash… >.< Must resist!

    • +2

If it's going to help with your dissonaince, wait for the stories of 32MB CompactFlash cards being at that price at some stage.

      • +1

CF cards! that's a collective memory, and look at the cf express now, that's a huge leap!
just remembered the good old days, spending $$$ for the "extreme pro" for a 4gb CF card…

  • Waiting for another T7 touch deal

  • Is it better or similar to T7 touch? Whats the difference?

    • +1

Touch contains the fingerprint security mechanism, which would be safer and more expensive compared with this one?

      • I heard it's a gimmick and useless

        • Definately, if it's stolen, you ain't getting it back, might as well let them have your movie collection.

  • Anyone else having trouble adding the student beans code? Have people successfully stacked the SB code and the PLUSITUP code?

    • The Student Beans code has to be assessed via your own account as it generates a special eBay URL
It can only stack either the Student Beans or the PLUSITUP code

      • Managed that part now. But best price I'm getting is $97 (ie $20 off for the SB code). Can't seem to stack the eBay code for a further $10. Not sure how people managed $87.

  • Which one would you recommend T7 shield or T7?

  • Has anyone’s 2TB T7 been posted yet? I paid on the 13th, still no postage update

    • same here, hopefully they actually have the stock

    • No, still waiting for postage.

    • Just received update, posted today.

  • Would this be the best option to plug into a 2013 year Imac 27-inch to use as a start-up disk?
"An external SSD should utilize USB 3.2 technology and have the functionality of being used as a startup disk for Mac." My aim would be to install fresh Operating System and then migrate everything across from the existing internal 1TB drive. I am happy to explore different options if the cost is comparable. Thanks to those much more clever than I am!

    • Yes this will definitely work to boot an iMac from. I'm pretty sure it comes with a USB-A to USB-C so you will be set. Just remember to set your Startup Disk to the Samsung after installation.
