    • For Xbox game, if you don’t mind digital copy, can get cheap cdkey from overseas store very cheap.

I got it around $37 2 month ago.

PS game usually physical copy is cheaper

  • I never played the first but heard it was good, who has played this and can recommend it. Any comparisons to other games to go off of?

From what i've gathered, it's better than the 1st game, which i already enjoyed.

I don't believe they're connected storywise, so can just dive into this one.

Looking forward to giving this a go.

    • I finished it last week. I very much enjoyed it - better than the first one, but as someone else said, it doesn't reference the first one at all.

    • +3

It plays like an old 16bit rpg like the SNES Final Fantasy games. Lots of dialogue and turn based battles. Great game if you like old school JRPGs.

Great price for what I consider to be my GOTY so far this year.
Just got the 100% the other day clocking about 110hrs. Well worth it.

Actually surprised at how cheap this has been lately considering the accolades and generally favorable reception it has received. Usually it's the ones that bomb which drop in price :/

    • You played champions of the continent? How does that compare?

      • I have not unfortunately, sorry.

  • Could someone recommend Switch or PS5 for this?

    • +3

Switch! It's something you want to enjoy anywhere you want and on the go or on the screen when home. Not limited to only on ps5

      • +1

I was also deciding between both and so glad I went Switch because it's just been so handy so have in those moments where I haven't been on the TV.

I've got an LG C1 65 and even though it would technically look better on PS5, because I'm not looking at them side-by-side I don't notice or care the difference (I played OP1 on XSX) and still looks good to me!

        • It doesn't look that great on PS5. The sprites are very blurry, which annoys me a bit. Makes me think it was an afterthought port to PS5 from the Switch. Still a cool game nonetheless.

        • Play with surround sound headphones! You can hear so much more. Just played the sea of stars demo on the OLED switch - gg and soundtrack.

      • Got the Switch

From a graphical/performance standpoint, the PS5 has no advantage here for this game. PS5 upscales the game from 1080p to 4K however comparing the switch version upscaled on a 4K tv, they're about the same.

Personal opinion but PS5 has a nicer controller to play with (switch pro controller is nice, but dualsense is something else…)

Switch you have an option for portability and the case sits nicely alongside the first game, and it's this reason alone I picked the switch version.

having played the first game, 100% on a mobile device. It takes lot of time and playing on a larger screen isn’t something that really makes a difference.

  • Currently playing this on the PS5. Would highly recommend! One of the best turn-based jrpg I've played.

  • how do you get it down to 39 via Perks?

    • +1

      perks initial sign-up $10 perhaps

Dang can't be a new member forever.

Need $1 item to use 10 off 50 perk

Is the story better than the first one. I couldn’t get into the first one’s story at all.

    • much better.

    • 7 of the 8 character arcs are amazing, being a hell of a lot more darker and full on for the most part.
The Dancer character's story is a bit meh, not offensively bad or anything but probably about on par with Octopath 1's ~average writing.

The way the epilogue ties the arcs together and explains the Villain happenings and motivations is smoother also, (rather than just being random notes info dumbed on you in a boss rush like the first game :/)

It will be $29 in no time, probably didn't sell well, which is sad.

    • +1

I think it's well worth grabbing at this price. Apart from supporting the game it could well become one of those titles that becomes impossible to cheaply buy a physical copy of soon.

      • +2

Yeah tempting… But I bought diofield at $49 and then look what happened lol,

But hard to find a copy of octo 1 under $70

    • its sad indeed. I bought first from marketplace around $50 and 2.5 years later sold it higher than that 🤷‍♂️

  • Heard some glitches on switch porting. And bad news on ps5 or should I wait for pc version?

    • Did you mean wait for a discount on PC because this game is already on PC. Ran perfectly without any issues when I played it.

    • I got ps5 version instead of switch and no issues whatsoever

  • The first one had some of the worst achievements I’ve seen in a game for quite sometime

    • Out of curiosity I went and had a look at some of them since I only played it on Switch originally, haha holy hell those are insane!

Thankfully This sequel is much more intuitive, I got my 100% the other day without a whole lot of drama, just needed a guide for some of the collectables and a few sidequests.

For anyone that has the perks code that needs $50 spend, I added this $1 item to reach 50.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered and picked up the Switch version within one hour. Love the game.

  • damn…i should have waited. got them for $59 few days after launch and it is still sitting on my desk unwrapped.

    • +1

You should be able to return it as its unopened

      • No, every retailer has return period..launch was more than 1 month ago, way beyond normal return period.

  • Thanks. Bought PS5 version.

It is said PS5 is 60hz and Switch is 30 hz. More important I don’t have a Switch.

  • +1

Such a great game. Bought the switch version so I can play on the go.

  • Pretty good bargain! I bought mine at $49 with $79 tag on it :D

  • JB is great. EB had it for 59 two weeks ago. I asked for a price match because lol EB gutted games, and JB customer service actually informed me that Big W were selling for 49 and they'll give me that price instead. Thank you JB team!
