[Waitlist] Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Professional Course + Free Exam Voucher @ Google Cloud (Work E-Mail Required)

2120

Similar to the deal I posted back in August last year Google will be offering the same course again.

It says for you to use your BUSINESS NAME. You can just make up, I've used my personal email and added a dan@dan as business name and it worked.

I think it's ideal for someone that wants to learn cloud (specially GCP) or just want to get a FREE voucher for certification (lol).

  • Access to learning materials located on the Google Cloud Skills Boost
  • A 9-week learning journey
  • Dedicated trainer & technical mentorship
  • One, full (8h) Instructor-Led Training day
  • 6 online, live exam guide review sessions, 60-90 minutes each, via Google Meet
  • Online community - via Google Groups, Google Account required to access
  • Cohort & program management
  • Shared drive with learning assets - Google Drive, Google Account required to access
  • Exam voucher

If it's like the last one I can share my experience with you:

  • Online live classes with an instructor based in Europe (I can say the guy was very good)
  • Access to the labs via Google Cloudskill was great to put what you learned in practice. They provision a temporary Google Cloud subscription so you can create VMs, networks, databases and so on.
  • We had 2-3- months after the course to sit the test for free. I passed and got my Associate Cloud Engineer.
  • The live sessions are recorded and you'll have a shared folder in Gdrive so you can refer back when studying.

All in all it was a good experience, specially cause the classes were live and you could interact with the instructor.

Also it is FREE so take advantage.

UPDATE

Apparently they're not accepting public mail providers GMAIL/HOTMAIL/YAHOO etc. anymore, so you in order to register you should use your business email or a different email than the public free ones available.

Can we get a free voucher for the GCP Professional Data Engineer?

    • +1

When filling up the form you choose which area/cert you want to go for. Professional Data Engineer is on the list.

      • I'm not clear on the 'free' aspect, which doesn't seem to be mentioned on the landing page or registration process. I registered, but after filling out the form I got a message to say, "We'll contact you if you're on the waitist."

Can you please share where you saw, "Google will be offering the same course again."

        • Does it not say that this is a no-cost program?

          • @scrimshaw: Thanks, yes it does. But reading the other comments, this is just a waitlist and there is no guarantee that registrants will get access to the course materials.

  • +3

Hi OP what's the exam like ? Online ? Open book or are you monitored remotely.

    Cheers

    • +5

Online, Closed book and you're monitored remotely.

  • +5

how did you add both your personal and corporate email? there's only one email field and it wont let me register with a personal email

    • +1

My bad mate, it is BUSINESS NAME not BUSINESS EMAIL. I've fixed the post.

  • +4

Thank you for your interest in the Get Certified Program 2023.
You are currently waitlisted and we will be in touch with more details in due course.
    Thank you,
    The Google Cloud Team

    • Same. I went to the waitlist as well

  • +1

Registered, waitlisted and says will be in touch…

  • +9

I registered but I'm not sure why

    • +2

So we're on the same team !!!!

Here we register and don't know why, we buy Udemy courses and we don't know why, we even buy a LOT os stuff that we don't know why, but it's 100% sure we will be using one day.

      That's the OZbargain mentality!!!

  • +6

Just want to point out that none of the people registered for last deal got either course or the exam. But still no harm in trying your luck again.

    • +1

I mean you have to take in consideration that's Worldwide. There was a LOT of people from around the world last time.

As you mentioned, there's no harm trying again. I originally found the 1st one last year on LinkedIn, tried my luck and got it, and here I am again.

      • +2

In that case I don't believe this should be a deal and title is misleading, as it implies a free exam voucher and certification will be given. There is no evidence to suggest this is the case, and your response indicated you're not sure either.

        • +1

To be fair to the OP, if the offer is open to everyone worldwide and there are only limited places on first come first serve basis, not everyone will get in.

          • @dealhunter52: I revoked my neg because 'Waitlist' has now been added to the title.

            • @wizzlesticks: Hey @wizzlesticks I disagree with you, as I don't think it's misleading even if you have to be in a waitlist.

At the moment I posted a lot of people jumped and got registered and of course the people who couldn't register will be the first ones to post here, trying to find alternatives to get enrolled, and I am more than happy to help each one of them.

It sill a deal for me cause I registered and got the email straight away for this one, and also for the last one. It worked for me and I wanted to share with the Ozbargain community cause I know a lot of people here work/study in the IT field and could benefit from it.

If you really believe it's not a deal and my response indicate that I'm not sure what I am talking about, just skip this post and move on.

Thanks to @alvian for adding the [Waitlist] to the post.

              Peace

              • -1

@danielglongo: In that case, if some people were actually successful and got enrolled right away, then I suppose 'sold out' is probably a more correct term. No one needs to move on, and no need to stress. It just wasn't clear that the deal was available but no longer isn't.

                • -1

@wizzlesticks: Again I disagree with you, it's not sold out, still available if you have a business account or an email account registered under a private DNS other than the public mail providers.

I'm not stressed at al, I just think your comment wasn't the right fit for the purpose of the post and you just tried to draw attention to something irrelevant.

I updated the post as soon as I noticed the change and people mentioned they're not able to use a public mail provider email (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.).

I'm pretty sure not all Ozbargainers have the $200 USD fee lying around to sit a Google exam, so getting it for free for me it is a bargain.

                  • @danielglongo: Please calm down mate. Post was corrected the minute 'Waitlisted' was added to the title. Not complicated!

  • +3

I have bought nearly 300 courses on Udemy that now I am expecting that someone buys my Udemy account for atleast 5k or 10k or 100k.

  • +2

Yeah, got nothing from the previous 'deal'

    • Yeah It's sad that they haven't enrolled everyone. There's no harm trying again. I hope you get it this time.

  • Thanks OP.

  • +1

Will it say your 'business name' on the certificate eventually?

    • +1

Nope … It'll state your name only.

You will only get the certification if you pass the closed book exam with around 40-50 questions. It is similar to MS exams provided by Prometric and etc.

  • +1

    Bargain!

Time to add GCP to my DevOps cert collections.

    • What other ones you hold?

      • +2

        AWS

        • Terraform, CKA, and AWS SA: I think these 3 should be enough for the DevOps cert journey?

          • @UncommonName: Not sure. I've been in field of DevOps for years so most of recruiters are not asking for Cert from me.

I heard that CKA is good to have also.

  • +1

It did not work for me last time. They never got back to me. I even contacted them and nobody at Google was aware of this promo. Hopefully it will work this time.

    • Fingers crossed it'll work this time.

  • +1

Can you get any work from this?

    • It all comes down to your experience. It's not because you're finishing a course and getting a certification you'll get a job. It definitely adds to your resumé and recruiters would be open to talk to you about it.

      I hope it helps.

  • +1

I mean, I have an AZ900, but since I don't have IT job yet, I'll give this a crack as well.

    • +1

Yep.. I'm in the industry for a few years and I went full on AZ900, SC900, PL900 and will get the AI900 in the coming months. It's Free and no harm learning something new.

  • I applied last time for the architect option but didn't see anything come through to my outlook.com.au email address. Trying again…

  • +2

It says it needs corporate email?

    • Yeah same here not sure what to put in lol

      • Enter your GMAIL and that's it.

        • I did. Said it needs corporate email.

          • @Wonderfool: You're right, it looks like they've changed. I've tried on my side with a fake Gmail and it didn't work. Dunno if they have a limited numbers of seats for non business users. Although, if you have a business email feel free to register.

  • +1

It says corporate email address required. Anyone else having the same problem?

  • Assuming you wrote up the description/information yourself(as opposed to copying and pasting from another deal location), great job.

    • Thanks mate. I appreciate it.

  • How long is the wait list do you think?

    • +1

To be honest I don't know. I wasn't in a waitlist and got the email straight away.

  • +2

What is the prerequisite knowledge requirement?

    • If you go for Associate Cloud Engineer, I would say some knowledge in IT would make you navigate through the course easily.

  • +1

Watch out Google doesn't just cancel GCP.

  • Waitlisted, used a student email and my actual company name… Will see how it goes.

    • Good on ya! Hopefully you get the email for the registration… Good luck.

  • I got invited and received an email to confirm my commitment. Is the certificate transferrable to my personal account as I have used my work email? I am just considering when I passed and then move into another workplace in the future.

    • You can transfer active certificates but after they expire you cannot. (I did ~6 months ago)

  • Is GCP similar to AWS?

    • +1

GCP/AWS/Azure are all basically the same. They have slight differences in how they do things, and have areas in cloud where they are stronger than the others. Personally I like GCP more than AWS, and Azure is too cobbled together (IMO)

  • +1

Also got accepted into the program. Thanks, OP.

  • Still got nothing from them….
