buying into the capsule coffee is like buying a printer that only uses A4.5 paper.. and unicorn blood for ink.
    you just hobble yourself.

yeah yeah, it's probably about convenience and freshness.. and you could have a variety in your cupboard.
    these are the pros.

but the process of making coffee is an enjoyment for me.
and straight from beans.. mmm fresh, and without all the capsules going to landfill.

    </confused rant>

Don't know about the rest but ALDI coffee pods are completely recyclable.

      • aldi coffee pods aint the best tasting. machine was given to me so i tried all from 4-10 intensity (all tasted NQR) plus choc (was ok, nothing but cocoa with sugar), chai latte (ok, some mixture with sugar). Still a rippoff compared to my fav unit, stove top + freshly ground beans.

They serve a purpose for those that want quick, easy and better tasting than instant coffee results..

      • You could cook your own dinner, but some people buy microwave meals
      • You could bake your own bread, but some people buy loaves from the supermarket

Convenience for many/some is worth the increased cost, and without the knowledge or time to make a coffee manually, the pod system does allow for consistent results to be produced for those that just want to 'press a button'..

    • do you plant the coffee beans and milk the cow as well? :P

tried, but couldn't work out difference between cow and bull.. until it was too late.

        = )

  • how much are those pods? and can u actually make cuppacino/mocha from them?

    • From the official Australian Lavazza website 16 capsules costs $12.99 but I am sure you will get them cheaper in the supermarkets. For Tassimo check Google or Ebay or HN and other stores that sell those devices.

Depending on the capsules a variety of coffee and hot drinks can be made.

    • Hello homersyd,
We have a value pack at the moment that works out 0.62c per capsule.

consider also that A Modo Mio are packed with almost double of the coffee that goes into nespresso capsules.

I love modo mio lavazza capsules. Better tasting IMHO than nestle ones. Flavours are great, strong too
