    Wasn't this already posted?

Ah the second post got marked as dupe because one of the posts was revised to overlap one part of the multi-product title
Completely unpublished rather than updated in-place this time

I searched but couldn't see the same thing. Sorry if it's a double up. Thought this was a pretty good deal to get an official copy of D2 and D3

  • +1

No this is just the spring sale, its been ongoing for over a week already

Have been playing D2:R again since the D4 beta ended. Diablo 2 is still such an amazing game all these years later and the remaster is top notch.

    • I actually am more excited that the D2 remastered is included in this than D3.

Started playing D3 last night with the mrs and a work buddy. I'm not much of a gamer anymore so will try to keep it going. Happy wife happy life

I thought d2r was fantastic. Granted I already played a boatload of the original and loved it.

I actually much prefer the skill hotkeys mechanics of D2R over those in D4.

D4 feels a lot like an ARPG mashed up with an MMO (not good imo) and I really dislike the 6 skill limit (same as d3).

I would have loved to see the return of 8 skill hotkeys and more freedom to pick any skills in any slot rather than making one of each type of skill basically imperative, but I guess they have to account for controller support 😑

      • D3 had the ability to go "advanced mode" in the settings, so you could put any skill in any slot. Can't remember the exact name, but it's there.

        • Yes but still a maximum of 6 skills

      • The console version of D2R allows for you to assign skills to the left trigger + any of the 7 remaining buttons, which opens up 14 slots total.

Like you said about D4, it felt too much like an MMO, what with the world bosses, forced online, and a giant, generic town. Plus the locations we could access in the beta were pretty boring.

        • I didn't realise d2r on console allowed up to 14 slots, that's more than PC. Agree that the main town in the beta felt unnecessarily large and a bit forgettable

  • Do you have a good recommendations regarding a PC controller? I want to play some old arcade games which might use controller better. Thanks

I know little about this stuff yet my bro gave me an some sort of xBox razer controller and it works with windows 11

      • Thanks.

        • +1

Also, the one he gave me is via usb cable but I assume it works with Bluetooth if you find one with that option. Just Google before buying.

I also can connect a PS4 controller via Bluetooth to Windows 11 but people tell me some(?) of the games don't see it.

If you have existing controllers for consuls - just connect, try and Google search what's what. Google the name of the game, and which controllers are compatible and the platform (steam/epic etc) you are using.

I don't really play much games anymore and tell my staff (who are still in their 20s/30s) the good old gaming days featuring 'StarCraft', 'wolfenstien 3d', 'Diablo II', 'NFS1', Mario Bro 3', MS Flight a simulator etc. there was none of this complex controller stuff back then. Keyboard and mouse or console. Joystick for the flight sim. Wolf3d on DOS installed via floppy disk - those were the days!!!

          • @Skullytor: I am buying a controller mainly playing street fighter and Street of rages 4. Very fun games.

An Xbox controller will work simply and easily. If you're like me and have a ps5, a little tinkering around is required which is a bit annoying.

      • +1

Oh I see. Thanks I don't have PS5. I am mainly playing Street Fighter and Street of Rages 4.

Just buy an Xbox controller. Currently on sale for $59: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/768502

Integrates with Windows very well (first party support) via Bluetooth, battery lasts ages and it’s nice to use.

      • OSS in Amazom. Very quick sell…

Not OOS on Catch though, the site the deal currently links to.

  • lowest price!

D2R on a Ps5 is a blast, slightly clunky inventory but other than that I now prefer that over mouse and keyboard. Perfect time to test if I could make the transition before D4, glad I gave it a go.
The level 99 goal still seems so far away though 🥵

    • how do you control precisly where to cast blizzard or tp if not using mouse?

      • +1

You don't, TP casts on top of you and the click of TP overides anything else like mosters / spells for easy escape.
Blizzard just casts on whatever monster is targeted, it's not perfect but my LVL 92 Hardcore Blizzard Sorc has adapted just fine.
Literally the only spell/skill I didn't like was Amazon multi shot since that is nice to choose wide spread vs clustered based on mouse location. On console it's just based on distance of current target, all good though, switched to Javazon

  • Thanks op bought to play on my steam deck

    • Do you add as a non steam game?

    • I know what steam is - what's a 'deck'? Is this game available on the steam platform? Or can it be transferred there? Sorry, just interested

      • Steam deck is a hand held device that can play your steam library on the go.

        • I See. Thank you

      • +1

        https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck

think of a more powerful nintendo switch that performs better and has a much larger library including being able to run emulators

All of this will be free on Game Pass when the Sony thugs back down from being bullies and allow the gaming industry to progress forward.

    • -1

Sony: we have the best exclusives and that's why you should support us over competition.
Also Sony: wah others now have exclusives which hurts us in the feels.

    • +2

True, hadn't considered that. Also don't wanna support Blizz while Kotick is still around. Hopefully I don't have to wait much longer…

    • +1

      "free"

      • Well, $15.95pm (cheaper for OzBargainers) for oodles of games is better than $110 for Diablo IV alone.

        • -2

          Quality > Quantity

          • +1

            @dreamstation: Quality + Quantity = Game Pass

            • -2

@Guybrush57: One man's trash is another man's treasure. Personally I don't find value in having gamepass full time. I've subbed a couple of times for a month when there is a game releasing that I want to play like now with Everspace 2. Apart from that I don't need access to a heap of mid tier games that I don't have time to play. Same goes for PS Plus Extra. Not worth it for me.

              • +3

@dreamstation: For the cost of a single full priced AAA game I've played a ton of games I usually wouldn't along with the usual big releases I would. So for me it's a win, though that's with the cheap Gold to Ultimate conversion thing. Dunno if that's still possible to do, I've still got a year on my sub I think. Definitely wouldn't pay the regular monthly sub.

              • @dreamstation: Just stop: you sound like a 12 yr old arguing about dumb things. You realise video games are subjective, right? Or do you seek self validation from a plastic box?

                • -1

@OzBoganYeah: Not sure what you're on about buddy but just stop trying. I explained my thoughts and gave my opinion on the subject. You are free to disagree but don't try and tell me to stop voicing my thoughts. Have fun, I'm out.

                  • @dreamstation: My point is it's dumb bickering online about video games: just enjoy the games you like, even if others don't share the same opinion as you and vice versa

  • Just consider that Diablo 2 cost a fraction in today's terms to make compared to Facebook's metaverse product and was majorly ahead of its time.
