      • Happy with that

I’d prefer the deal to be limited to 5 so more people can get them and hopefully the deal comes up more regularly

        • +2

Having more frequent prepaid gift card deals is only a good thing if Coles stores can get more stock in between deals, because Coles stores (at least in my area) are generally rubbish at restocking Coles Mastercard gift cards in between deals.

The area I am in at the moment is only having the bonus points deal on Coles Mastercard gift cards. Having visited four different stores over the last few days, all four had no Coles Mastercard gift cards at all on their gift card shelves, but I managed to find some $100s and $250s today at one store, because someone thankfully already moved some $100s and $250s to a small temporary gift card island being used to promote Mother’s Day.

      • What the limit if the same flybuys used in the NSW and VIC to buy them on the same day?

    • It's "per day", I tried to get a 6th card and the discount did not apply

Hopefully not per 24 hours, I'll find out about 8am tomorrow when I go for my next batch of 15 cards

    • +1

Yes daily limit is enforced. I bought 4 at one coles and another 4 at another Coles and only saw discount on one card in the second round. Didn't know why as I didn't check T&C but tried again with another flybuys account and it worked. Note it combines the limit on both $100 and $250 card.

  • -1

I did the split payment using coles myer group gc at staff operated checkout, no issues.

    • How come others are getting an error? What different did you do? Did you pay part by credit card first and then used the Coles Myer GC? Can you please elaborate a bit more on exactly what did you do?

    • Interesting. I tried split payment at the service desk yesterday. Trying to pay $200 first with Coles Myer Group gc and got declined. After she tried twice I told her I would just pay the whole amount with credit card.

    • That was before this Wednesday. It definitely doesn't work anymore.

      • Yes, I only had $200 Coles Myer gc and actually kept it for use at Shell Express or Officeworks. Yesterday I merely wanted to try.

    • +1

      Could you please elaborate?

Did you mean you used coles / myer group gc to split pay for paying the mastercard?

  • The 5th card came back with activation error this morning oddly! I only bought 4 yesterday and had no issues, so wondering if it's just a dodgy card or system thing as recall seeing others commenting similar experiences?

    • I believe it is a system thing. Was at Coles yesterday trying to buy 5 at self checkout and stuff stopped me and sent me to service desk. Manager at the service desk said system has been very glitchy the whole morning, ie self checkout machines just froze for some reason.

  • +4

No stock in springvale, brandon park, pinewood, dandenong, Keysborough and clayton. Fine times!

    • +2

Thanks for the heads up 👍

    • Did you ask at the service desk ?
I have reports some are there .

      • +1

Yup. Asked the counter. Only $100 available

        • -1

Don't forget to look behind the gift cards and plunder others loot hehe .

    • Went to coles chadstone service desk and got 2 x $250 not sure if they have anymore though.

  • Bought 5x $250 cards. Coles charged me for 5 cards but one card failed to activate. They spent 15 mins on the phone trying to figure out what was going on. Then they tried to refund but the system doesn’t allow refunds on gift card so they had to call a manager over who spent another 15 mins trying to understand the issue and calling around to see why it was declined. And then the manager tried to issue a refund again but she ended up charging me another $231 instead of refunding. I had to leave for another appointment so now I have to go back and wait for probably another 30min while they try and figure how to refund me properly again.

So just hope you don’t get activation errors when purchasing as it’s a nightmare just to get your money back as they will charge you regardless of if it activates or not

    • +2

I got lucky, they refunded me 257 lol

      • +1

She was about to refund me $257 as well but then someone else said hang on it’s 10% off. Lol. And then she charged me another $231. So not exactly the most switched on coles staff

        • Zzz unlucky :(

      • +1

        Me too.

    • Same thing happened to me tonight but got told to go back tomorrow when the day manager is on to get a refund. I think it's just a bad batch of cards and pot luck. They said cos I did it over multiple debit cards thats why it declined.
Will go back tomorrow and buy more :)

    • Happened to me as well. After 10 mins of discussion the staff said they cannot refund and gave me another card (the very last one!) instead - I have no idea what if that one failed too lol

    • They can refund if they select the correct way to process it.

I would not be leaving the store with a receipt stating not activated.

I had 3 that wouldn't activate and after 20 mins they eventually worked out how to refund, after telling me about 20 times they can not refund gift cards, but as the product they sold me was "faulty" as in not activated, I wasn't leaving until the refund was processed.

  • Bought a $257.83 Woolworths gift card, total cost: $231.30

  • +1

No stock anywhere I checked in western suburbs VIC for $250s. Only $100 ones, not worthwhile.

    • Not as much stock this time around. I have given up

      • Plenty of stock in the CBD

        • -1

Asked at the service desk at two stores in the CBD today, plenty of 100s but no 250s 😢

    • +3

I thought they were worth buying. I used my HSBC card to pay for them and got 2% cashback on each of them.

      • need to do them one at a time then? did it take longer than usual?

      • Split payment?

      • +1

2% cashback is paid on your eligible tap and pay purchases under $100, using Visa payWave, Apple Pay or Google Pay .

      • HSBC card declined on the 4th card. Had to use normal CC and the lady at the counter looked irritated lol.

        • it's a pattern, most card will be blocked with repeated pattern like that. they declined my Citi too and have to call/sms them to confirm it's legit

          • @hanofee: Have multiple alternative cards ready for this situation.

          • @hanofee: my citi was fine with 3 x $1150 purchases in a row lol

  • +4

Nil stock - $250 - at Westfield Coles Doncaster
Has stock - $100 - at Westfield Coles Doncaster

    • +1

      U tried behind the counter?

  • Does anyone know if you can pay for these with The Grocery Gift Card from Card.Gift?

    • Any luck?

      • The self-serve checkout wouldn’t allow me to make a split payment and because the balance of my Grocery Gift Card wouldn’t cover the full cost of the Coles Gift Card I was unable to try.

  • Is there a limit on the number of cards you can buy?

    • +3

As per the first line of the deal terms (which is in bold in OP’s description), the limit is 5 gift cards per Flybuys account per day.

Someone tried to purchase a 6th gift card yesterday, but no discount was applied at the checkout.

If you turn up with more than one fully registered Flybuys account to a store, it is really pot luck whether the staff at the store will let you purchase more than 5 gift cards in one visit.

      • So meaning 5 total cards for both $100's and $250's ?
Or 5 from each denomination ?

      • Just walk out, go back in and checkout at another cashier.

        • +1

My local store just flat out told me it’s 5 per Flybuys card, happy to sell me as many as I want if I have the Flybuys.

        • That does not always work…

I was at one store during the recent Vanilla Visa deal where the customer in front of me at the standard checkout purchased 5x $250s, and they grabbed a temporary Flybuys card on the way out. I purchased my solitary $250 and left the store, but realised I forgot to grab some milk. When I went back in a few minutes later and passed through the self checkout to purchase the milk, the same customer was having an argument with the manager on duty. The manager on duty was the same person who authorised the first purchase of 5x $250s a few minutes earlier, but from what I could hear, they were refusing to authorise another purchase of 5x $250s. I have no idea what happened in the end.

          • @WookieMonster: Each flybuys card needs to be activated with a valid unique phone number and email address in order for the discount to work.

            • +1

@mrvaluepack: You don't need a registered flybuys for that deal.

              • @Neoika: For which deal? This deal you do.

Fully-registered Flybuys members must have joined the Flybuys program via the Flybuys app or flybuys.com.au, provided their first and last name and verified their registration with a mobile number and email address. This promotion requires full Flybuys registration and is not available for use with an unregistered temporary card or for partially registered members.

            • @mrvaluepack: I am 100% certain that you don't need a unique phone number.

              • +1

@truetypezk: 1 mobile number can be registered to 10 flybuys account numbers? i dont think so.

  • +1

Anyone tried using the card on stake?

    • +1

Yes it gives an error. I guess because it doesn't support 3D Secure.

  • +1

No issues with my local - Quite a bit of stock, not many seem to be selling this time

No issues getting 15 x $250s with 3 Flybuys cards

    • +1

Only problems we had was too early and too late there was not enough different staff on to get the loot out without being noticed.
      Busier hours were more effective.

      • Yes busy is good as you can can be ignored!

The Manager at my local one knows me well enough now, as they see me every time the promotion come around and in previous times, my partner as well who would also go and stock up.

This time, due to the FB scanning and reduction in ability to use/re-use the cards it's just me doing 15 X 250's per day

Still very happy with a saving of $2K for $26K of cards

        • +2

It's just those quite times your lucky to get more than 1 lot ( 5 cards ) out per store . Sometimes a checkout is far enough from the service counter or the self service to get away with it if both are manned. Busier times you can get 3 lots out .

  • Anyone know how long it takes for a new flybuys card to activate properly so this deal can apply? Set one up and verified everything last night but it wouldn’t reduce the gift cards :(

    • +2

24 hours as mentioned in another thread. I am happy to share mine privately.

    • Worked straight away for me

  • +2

Paid for my dentist today 👌

    • Which dentists allow split payment lol

      • +3

I think they will accept them if you say no other payment option.

        • +1

Yeah the girl just manually added the numbers for each card

  • Can I use these for Sportsbet?

    • +4

For your sake, I hope not.

  • Is anyone else finding these cards harder to find… I drove to 6 Coles today and couldn't find a single $250 card. Do they generally get re-stocked overnight?

    • Yeah no stock left at my local now, they ran out much slower than last time that's for sure!

I still have a stash hidden and got my 10 from there this morning, will head back later for the other 5 for the day.

    • +1

Its Saturday today . Add all the people not working today looking for em and you are stuffed.
      Even better locations are affected.

      • Usually takes a few days for word to get around the "normal people"

The "hackers" who were buying hundreds of cards and recycling them this time are not there, hence stock being around for longer

They "should" get restocked prior to Tuesday

        • +1

Manager at my local said he's ordered more but unlikely to get more stock till Monday (this was on Thursday).

I've managed to get 12 so far, 4x cards each day Wed-Fri.

    • +4

Coles Mastercard gift cards are usually sent by courier to a store, and it is to up to Coles staff (usually the store manager) when those gift cards are made available for sale. From what a duty manager once told me, the store needs to order stock from head office ahead of a deal, so if a store did not order a lot of stock (or there are delays in the courier getting the gift cards to the store), you can have stock issues. Of course, that is only one explanation, because you could have staff keep stock for themselves, people stealing stock from one store so it can be purchased at another store, staff forgetting they even have any gift cards in storage, etc.

      As an aside…

      • For some other types of gift cards (and/or store locations), you may have a rep from the gift card company turn up with a bag of gift cards and restock the gift card shelves as they see fit. I saw this happen once at a suburban Coles store when a TCN rep was restocking TCN gift cards a few days after a 15% off deal. I suspect TCN would not do this for Coles stores in rural/regional areas.

      • I think Blackhawk Network usually sends their gift cards via courier to a Coles store, as I have never seen a Blackhawk Network rep restock gift cards, plus I have only seen at Coles (and Woolworths) suburban stores courier boxes with the sender listed as Blackhawk Network.

      • I noticed around 6 mths ago some of the cards have security tags that set of the alarms.
        No more Mr Stash .
Mr Beep Beep has arrived .

        • Why though? They have no value until activated at the till.

          • @mysterytal: Maybe scam stopping .
But I have found me even being a good boy after purchasing a lot and go back for another sometimes the security goes off with the purchased cards.

        • -7

Can still hide them in the store, which is what I do!

          Doubt any have alarms though

          • @Dealseeker21: Nah we have advance technical guys ( Google ) that have advised what to cover them with so that problem won't occur again.

  • -1

Only allowed to buy 4 cards at one time… anyway….

    • Coles staff tried to restrict me to 3 … after some 'discussion' they allowed the system to decide. I walked out with my 5 cards. I then pulled a catelogue off the shelf and politely showed them the relevant fine print for next time. They trust their categlogue more than their customers for some reason.

      • +1

You definitely have some Managers with absolute power at Coles if you get to that level .
I will just walk and try to be discreet with whatever I got .

      • +1

The lady at the check out saw the discount on the register and cancelled the transaction and asked me, what are you doing, and I was like,,,, ummm shopping ?

        • +1

In my case lady at the checkout saw the discount and asked how many could you buy and said she would get some.

  • -7

No stock at my local stores,

Still have a few more hidden for the next 2 days :)

    Good times

  • Anyone having trouble using these buying gift cards at prezzee? My transactions won't go through for the third card for some reasons.

  • Some $250 cards still available at both Wodonga stores

  • (Quite new to FlyBuys sorry)

I'm right in thinking these GC purchases have no other benefit to your FB account (inc gaining points or triggering offers) apart from the obvious decent cash discount, is that right?

    • +2

U still get points on what you paid for (e.g: 231 points for the $250 card after discount), but in won't trigger your X spend for Y bonus. Also, in term of future offer, there's actually a drawback, that they'd count this as ur spending habit (so ur usual X spend get Y bonus, might become $300 spending, instead of $50, in the near future)

  • Has anyone tried to ring up customer service to lock cards temporarily? How easy to do that? Intend to keep 3 cards for future use.
