PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Dual 12G Graphics Card $939 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart & MSY & PCByte & JW

730

Not necessarily sure if it's a deal but it's getting closer tonot too bad compared to the USD MSRP, where in the US the 4070 cards are reportedly just sitting on shelves gathering dust being priced at USD 599 (~ AUD 893 w/o tax).

At least we are getting a good price drop already in Australia, a few days in after the launch of this card.

Also take your pick of alternative retailers…

Correct me if I am wrong but US MSRP doesn't include state tax?

    • you are correct and they vary depending on which state you are in, from memory i think Hawaii was about 4.5%

For someone who still deciding or dont know how this GPU compare to others. This 25mins may help a bit.

Myself will not pay $1000 for a GPU in 2023 that performs very similar to 6800xt and 3080, especially with only 12G VRAM.

  • I literally bought a PNY 3080 10gb a few days ago. Seems like it still performs slightly better than this card with slightly lower VRAM. Is the extra 2GB VRAM worth a refund and swap?

Mainly for AI as I don't game much

I’m guessing the RTX4000-series is better equipped for AI tasks.

    • I think it does, 30 series are fine, but for a while 1080ti and 2080ti were the "affordable" (compared to Nvidia professional lines) AI cards and some models may be built to be trained with 11GB of VRAM.

It's not often the case, but depending on what you do you may hit the limits of VRAM quite often (This also includes the 12GB cards).
For ML tasks on budget, a used 3090 may be considered, 24GB is certainly useful.

  • Just one thing to keep in mind from what the reviewers and "influencers" mentioned, this $599 pricing was a last minute change by Nvidia which pissed the AIB's off, what they told the AIB's was that they will "fund" this price change for a month and that 50% of the cards had to be at this price, so there is a real possibility that these may go up in price in a month or so and the cheaper cards disappear…

It'll be very interesting to see what happens and if they do go up in price or not, seeing that the current price hasn't really excited consumers lol

Even if they go back up temporarily it will be short lived.

The drop in price on the 4070ti & 7900XT put too much pressure on the 4070, it was never going to last long before discounts at that msrp

      • +1

Yeh i agree, even the "discounted" price wasn't that enticing let alone what they wanted to charge, they may do that to try and push the more expensive cards though (in the that, why pay 1k for this if the Ti is 1.1k) … both AMD and Nvidia pull those tricks…

good. I saved $100 by not buying on the first day

      • Wait even more and save full amount

        • i'm waiting until the 5070 drops below $799

RX 6700. $419 recently at Center Con. 1440p anything. 10GB. I'm keeping it

  • Are there reference designs with the back exhaust out of the case for 40 series card?

The most panic in a GPU launch ever

BPC lists the Ventus for $999 the night before launch, then jacks it up to $1079 the next morning

Same day, Amazon come in with sub $1K prices for a range of cards meaning Jacket Man and the local US AIB's are already sweating about the crap sales

A day later, BPC drop the card down to $969

4060 Ti and 4060 launches are going to be even more fun

    • if team green keeps doing things like they did in 30x0 generation, 4060 should have almost-OK-but-not-quite performance, 16gb of VRAM on a shitty bus, and be the only card worth getting retail

  • +1

    still available 🤓

  • +2

What is the point of this card? Considerably slower than the 4070ti and not far off in price. This thing should be sitting around the 650-700 range.

  • HODL RTX 5070 not far off now…
