        Magnificoo !!!

Is this the one with whole top surface being sensor switch that shuts down the pc? Brilliant design! It could be better only if it blew up after that.

I believe so - we have these at work and that design is the dumbest thing I've seen in some time.
So, if you want to plug in a USB or something, you need to hold it on the side really awkwardly…

EDIT: The image looks slightly different to the ones we have at work - perhaps they changed it from the G2 to the G4. Like there's a little rectangle button on the G4 so maybe they fixed that nonsense design

Nope these have the buttons now, I agreed stupid design of the old ones haha

  • Can I use this with non HP laptop and/or monitors?
    Thank you

Yeah, should be fine. It even mentions Mac and Chrome OS on the page. I've used(well, tried) my Dell TB4 dock with a few different devices - PC, MacBooks, Steam Deck, Windows Laptop, Dex.

It will also likely work with USB-C, though if that is your use case, you should confirm yourself.

    • Confirmed I’ve used the one at work with Samsung Dex and it worked fine. If that works, surely it’s safe with a laptop with thunderbolt out.

    • I have a G2 that I’ve only ever used with a Mac, works great!

Not sure if it’s the same with the G4, but the G2 has a replaceable cable if you remove the base (one screw). I swapped in a longer Thunderbolt cable.

Just chiming in here - IT systems admin that had these deployed at a previous company I worked at.

These had a major failure rate… Maybe 1 in 5. Given their price, I thought that was ridiculous. YMMV.

  • Manager with 50 of the G2’s. Decent failure after warranty expires - power surges.
However majority of the units have worked well within warranty.

Some are pretty sensitive where it power cycles if you touch the unit, restarting the connection which disconnects the monitors.

    We run x2 27” workstations + 32” 4K & 27” 1080p’sz

We run Mac and HP workstations.

Best performance if you run multiple non 4K monitors, otherwise the slight delay with dual 4k’s can be annoying.
