Internet (to support cloud feature, show ads)

They show ads on a "paid" software?

    • That's for the free version.

Has anyone out there tried using this to record phone calls? I hate that my trusty old app that I used to be able to use to record all phone calls is no longer supported by later versions of android; apparently because of a change in the law.

A change in the law? Where? The world?

      • -1

I am pretty sure you are not allowed to record anyone without their consent. I believe that's the law?

        • +4

that is why they tell us "they are recording for training purposes"

        • Not sure in Oz, but in the US this varies by state. In Texas, for instance, no consent is required.

@wisdomtooth: It varies by state in Australia also, however manufacturers just disable it on all phones sold in Australia by default.

In the Northern Territory and Victoria you can record a private conversation without consent of all parties as long as you are a party to the conversation yourself.

If you are interested in this feature you need to purchase a phone (or install a ROM) from one of these countries https://www.sammobile.com/news/call-recording-samsung-galaxy…

Or use tools that require root access in Android.

I don't know about Apple but I expect it is far more difficult

The point I'm trying to make is that 'the law' is not universal, it varies by state and country. Recording a phone call is legal even within Aus in some states, often depends on the circumstances and involvement.

This is the best app I've found that automatically records all my calls and uploads to my Drive account

I like freebies just like you, but is there a reason to use this instead of the native audio recorder?

    • Guess it would depend on the native audio recorder? Not all phones have an app of that type, some apps of that type likely don't record whats going on in a phone call and would just hear you via the mic, likely don't have Cloud backup etc. etc.

But if you have one and it does the same as this then you wouldn't need this app, no.

The one that I have on my phone, it's pretty simple one. Not as many features as this one.

    • The pixel recorder is really good. It Transcript everything too which I find handy

Yes record phone calls used to work not now (new Android version ) Any one know of phone recording program that works NOW ? Used to be great when resolving issues with call centers that later they deny.

    • I want to know this too

Some recent reviews are pretty bad

  • The pro version allows you to record in PCM. Is that a joke? Doesn't it even support MP3, ogg, opus?

    • Are you sure? Have you checked the settings?

    • +1

PCM is lossless, like a CD, it is the highest quality with the advantage of least processing power/best battery use. They choose to make that an option on the pro version, with only compressed AAC for free version. Not sure why you're upset about that.
