Just recently joined the gym and came across what looks like a good price for some proteins.

Just what I need to recover from curling in the squat rack.

I can vouch for this exact protein, just got through my first large tub it was decent. I moved on to a 1kg bag of bulk nutrients WPC after and it doesn't taste near as good.

    • WPI has a much nicer/smoother consistency. Bulk Nutrients WPI is good.

      • Yeah, but bulk nutrients still charge like $50+ for 2kg of WPC. I don't bother with them any more, this was a packet I'd forgot about in the back of my cupboard.

So are you yuge now, did you need to buy all new shirts to accomodate your new musculature?

      • I didn't say this was my first rodeo, just the first tub of this stuff.

      • +1

Isn't the idea to keep the same shirt size, ensuring you can pop a seam at opportune moments?

    • Bulk Nutrients is far higher quality than this. Most of these don't even contain the protein it says it does. These products from CW have been caught out before. Bulk Nutrients has or used to do free testing for you. They have done loads of lab results in the past showing false protein values on the label. Your getting something imported and made from overseas as opposed to manufactured with higher quality components in Australia. The reason this taste better is because it is higher in sugar and filler(unknown additives). The chocolate WPI from Bulk Nutrients is 25.6g per 30g.. This is 24.8 (if correct) per 32g.. Over 2g of extra filler is a lot.

  • Just after I ordered 5kg WPI for 140 bucks :(

  • I bought 3 tubs

Approx. 85% protein, is it a bit low for WPI?

    • +2

My True Protein WPI in vanilla is 89% and that's $75 a kilo - truth is that 85% protein is pretty good for WPI..

It doesn't get higher than 93% IME

    • -2

      humm normally 90%

      • +1

        Not true unless it’s unflavoured

    • +1

For the price though…not too bad

    • +1

its a great deal if you factor in cost vs the more expensive stuff.

    • +5

It's not 85% protein though. It clearly states 77.5g per 100g so that is the protein % you are getting.

84.5% of the ingredients are from whey protein. The other 15% is the flavourings, MCTs etc which don't contribute any protein content.

Put differently? In the 32g scoop you are getting 24.8g protein, which = 77.5%

Edit, if you buy vanilla u are getting closer to 82%

    • +2

It's 77.5g protein per 100g, which is quite low for WPI, but in line with other cheap isolates (e.g. AminoZ @79.7P/100g).
Premium WPC/WPI blends go up to 75P/100g

At this price it's a bargain IMO.

edit: at $2.45 for 77.5g of protein, this is going to be my cheapest protein source
I am not brave enough to order more than 1 as a first try, but if you buy 3 can use [CR5OFF150] for $5 off.

      • That's why I avoid chocolate flavours, aminoz easily 85-90%, but the moment you hit chocolate, it's 79/80.

  • Not bad

      Username checks out

  • How's this brand vs Musashi?

    • I've tried both vanilla flavours. I didn't notice much between them. Tasted fine to me and I love my post workout vanilla shake.
But I'm easy to please as well.

    • +1

Both pretty comparable IMO, either are definitely worth it when they're on these sort of sales at CW.

    • I prefer musashi

this stuff is fantastic. i bought the more expensive mainstream stuff and don't see a difference between them. so i save a ton with this stuff over the overpriced crap at the supplement stores.

It's a great price for WPI, did a quick comparison below and it definitely has some fillers in it. Most protein companies are getting their raw product from the same suppliers which is why the price has gone up across the board.

    Blackbelt Protein

    Energy (KJ) 624.4 1561
    Protein (G) 34.04 85.1
    Total Fat (G) 0.68 1.7
    (Saturated) (G) 0.48 1.2
    Total Carbohydrates (G) 2.36 5.9
    (Sugar) (G) 1.2 3
    Sodium (MG) 60 150

    Inc

    Energy 493kJ (118Cal) - 1540kJ (368Cal)
    Protein 24.8g - 77.5g
    Fat, Total 1.0g - 3.0g
    - Saturated 0.7g - 2.1g
    Carbohydrate 1.5g - 4.8g
    - Sugars 0.4g - 1.4g
    Dietary Fibre 1.1g - 3.3g
    Sodium 109mg - 342mg

I personally use WPC as I use it as a meal replacement and it digests slower than WPI but this is a great price if you're not too bothered by the quality.

    • Never heard of blackbelt but theirs is $47/kg for 2kg at 85.1% protein
Bulk nutrients $41.50/kg for 2kg at 85.5% protein

Practically double the price for 10% more purity?

      • Just comparing quality. Their price is pretty standard across the board. Theirs is a fairly high quality product with very little filler and additional ingredients. This price from Inc is not reflective of the current price of wpi from any manufacturer. Its definitely a bargain but the quality is questionable.

  • No more free shipping. InFlAtIoN.

    • Thought I was going crazy not being able to find the banner for this aha.
Swear they only recently dropped their free shipping limit to like ~$50 down from $99.

Bought my first protein powder, good luck

  • This used be $33 approx per kg (bought 4 kg) when I bought just before COVID, so still using it.
Very pure and I always get the original flavour.
    90% protein

Pricing error, they've priced it the same as the 1kg tubs. Hopefully they actually fulfill the orders.

    • I'd say you're right, catalogue has it listed as 30% off, $80.49

    • I got this for maybe $5x last year some time. Definitely wasn't $80, i wouldn't pay that for this tub.

Can confirm also my cart says $80 on checkout so probably is a price error but it should go lower at some point to near this price

      • -1

$25 dollars for whey protein is a record low unless you're buying 10 kilos at a time or something.

        • Like I said i paid in the $50 range for this during 2022. It must go half price sometimes.

          • -1

@Budju: Hmm true - do you have any receipts or do you expect blind faith?

          • +1

@Budju: So did I - it was the vanilla flavour for ~$55 for 2kg. The fact people are trying to call BS on this is a laugh.

            • +1

@NedStark102: It's one guy getting arked up cause I don't keep some random receipt for 6-9 months ago to prove I bought something lol

              • -1

@Budju: You wouldn't wanna meet me irl or you'd see who arks up to what and who is who.

                • @BargainHunterJohnnyB: haha, yeah I don't want to meet you. Probably got dandruff and pimples, and are an absolute biohazard of a human being.

Got the pick up order confirmation :) May have been a price error but seems they’re honouring it

Got one. First protein ever! My future guns will thank me :)

    Thanks!

  • +1

The chocolate flavour is actually decent… better than aminoz atleast lol

  • Shows 80.49 in cart, and doesn't seem to have any stock.

  • Price back to 80.49 and no stock

Make sure when curling an empty olympic bar in the squat rack you have the saftey clips on the ends of the bar.

      Thanks! Safety first

  • Anyone that ordered delivery got shipping notification yet?

    • Not yet :(
