My assumption is that you meant power "Consumption".

    • Lol. Thanks for picking it up.

  • Good budget TV. I'm happy with my 75C835.
It has coil whine issue and make more heat than normal led or qled tvs. But it's Winter…OK…

I'm not gonna buy new TV in 3yrs but I'm very expecting C945 and X955 release end of 2023 or earlier 2024.

  • This or a 2-3 year old Samsung/LG/Sony TV for the same price?

Depends on the model but I make it a point to avoid tcl after my panel burnt out in under 6 months. YMMV

    • Charged $200 for delivery to my place lol…

  • 500nits / Mini LED
That would actually make it HDR compliant?
Unlike so many bs marketing "HDR's" that are out thetr

Minimum brightness and contrast ratios: This is probably the most interesting one, as it's great for consumers and shows the different players here at work. There are two possible minimum specs. A minimum brightness of 1,000 nits, along with a black level of a maximum of 0.05 nits (20,000:1 contrast ratio), or a minimum brightness of 540 nits, along with a black level of a maximum of 0.0005 (1,080,000:1).

  • I had a couple of TCL TV’s in the US which were often rated as the best budget brand. They were really good, but over there they came with ROKU software which I think is better than Google.

I have 2 TCL TV's and dislike them both immensely.

The smaller bedroom one is way too slow and sometimes loses WiFi, the big lounge room one, crashes a lot (plex locks up no buttons respond on remote).

The large TV also has problems syncing the time for weeks after daylight saving changes. I'm still waiting for it to correct the time, if I use manual time, apps have problems with WiFi for some reason.

Not to mention their annoying netflix button you can't remap.

They also take a long time to to boot up (fast when in standby mode, which you have to enable manually, but full power off has to boot android).

I'm unlikely to ever buy TCL again, very disappointed, in fact they are so bad that in future I'll probably try avoid any 'smart' TV's (if you can even get them) and just get a separate google TV dongle or plex.

    • I've not seen a TV without a 'smart' OS since plasmas were popular.

    • I thought google tv is a much faster experience than older android tvs. I have a hisense with whatever their os is called and its a very fast booting streamlined system which I ichose for that reason. I can gnore it and just use a firestck anyway.

    • What models are you taking about? New or old TVs?

  • gotta love how i buy this bloody thing two weeks ago after no deals on it for a year and then it gets 4 in a row.

    • I got mine a few months ago for 1179 with a 100 voucher. Around November.

  • Wow. So so tempting. May get JB to match.

  • Looks like it uses almost as much power as an old style plasma tv, for comparable display sizes.

Check the previous post 3 days ago. The sticker says it uses more than a Plasma, govy site says it uses more (which is where the sticker comes from). Independant tests say on average it uses 1/3 less than the sticker.

I think the reality is ..it depends on what you are watching. Bright high motion 4k content burns the juice at 2x rate of a plasma. Just feel them playing those HD scenes in store. Hot as hell. Components are literally crying inside.

Watching dark brooding 1080 netflix murder drama. Back to the equivalent backlit consumption (half a plasma)..
