    Just get the q150

I have the Q100s and recently upgraded to the LS50 Metas, it is a noticeable step-up.

It’s not twice as good, despite costing twice as much - but if you want more out of your speakers, this is a worthwhile avenue to take.

I use mine as desktop speakers (admittedly overkill), but I can’t really see myself upgrading my desktop setup to anything else, anytime soon.

    • There are reviews where they talk about these two speakers being essentially the same, and even an interview with the lead designer agrees they are the same speaker. Not sure why you were negged…

Why would you spend $1800 on speakers without listening to them?

    • +4

Because they have incredible reviews, excellent price, and amazon easy and free returns.

      • +2

The easy returns might be key here- I've demoed these in a KEF showroom and absolutely hated them.

Many speakers that cost far less also have incredible reviews 😅

      Go listen to them?

DO NOT buy speakers based on their "excellent" reviews.
Those may be excellent in technical aspects, but people's taste in speaker "style" varies drastically.
I was looking for a pair of $1500 bookshelf last year, demoed a lot and eventually bought a pair of Dynaudio studio monitors.
Many people say those are bland and boring, but I just enjoy those more than any other in this price range.
Please go demo speakers before pulling the trigger.

  • Maybe, but many people are tone deaf …..so much for taste,

Hard to not like Kef’s sound signature, clean, spatial and tight. Uni q drivers are fantastic

    • Actually it's pretty easy to not like them. I have the Q150s and i've had a few friends come around that weren't impressed with them.

The reality is that the neutral sound signature is not for everyone. Especially in today's day and age where most casual music listening is with the harman curve being the norm.

      Way too bright for me

    • I can’t stand it. It sits certain people being crazy bright, sounds incredibly artificial to me. I can’t understand why people pay that much money for them honestly. There’s so much more out there that are so much better and for so much less money.

  • For same price focal 826 can still be found for 1800

  • Incredibly overrated speakers, LSR305 wipe the floor with them for a fraction of the cost, as did the old Cambridge Audio S30 (as a more 'traditional' passive alternative). As many others have said, demo before you buy and don't assume they're good just because they're expensive, otherwise you're subjecting yourself to some strong confirmation bias.
