        • Sure but why was it out of stock so early on and then afterwards flipping back and forth between finding stock again and then OOS for certain postcodes only. Just thought their item inventory tracking was pretty funny. The fit thing seems to be a YMMV based on online reviews. Do they let you try try them on in stores or is it a hygiene issue haha.

  • Do these have a sensor for auto pause/resume function when removed from the ear?

    • +1

Yes, but I do find if you are holding the buds or place them in a pocket it is pretty easy to cover the sensor and have them start playing again when they aren't in your ear.

  • Ended up price matching with officeworks as previous posts. Not bad headphones, less ear ache than some other products out there

  • +1

Walked in Officeworks and price beat the buds pro. The staff showed an unbelievable price expression. Guess they prob will grab a pair themselves later.

The bud are good. Just like most reviews, solid performance. Great user experience with Google's Eco system. Just like earpods to the iPhones.

However definitely will not pay at RRP. My opinion they are more a $150-200 product.

    • Wow must just be my luck or location but the couple of stores around me whenever I ask for pricebeats the staff there always behave like they're losing money out of their own pockets or facing physical punishments afterwards by the way they try to find any reason imaginable to deny the claim. For these earbuds I even got told the reason was cos it's not technically sold by Optus but by 'Likewise' so they can't do it. Another said it was because the optus website doesn't explicitly list the exact same product code as officeworks.
Ended up just doing it over the phone.

      • Even I was able to price beat - twice. Once they said its not in stock - but they can get it delivered to the same store in next 2 days. I still paid $142.50 only :). First time they were kind of surprised to see such big discount (50% off rrp), but they agreed.

  • Back in stock now. JB wouldnt price match though.

    • +1

Try them online. They just price matched for me

      • Same here. Go through their online chat and post the link. I did it today and used the $10 Perks Welcome to get a pair for $140 from JB. 😎

  • How does this compare to buds 2 pro

    • Buds Pro 2 superior in my opinion

      • Which ones are those? The OG?

        • Samsung Galaxy

  • Optus in Belconnen (and pretty much all the Optus' in the ACT) didn't have any stock left, but JB Hifi in the Mall price matched without any question, but were surprised when they checked the Optus website that the discount was so much. Charcoal online was out of stock, but was able to price match on the still available Fog.

  • +1

The Charcoal Pixel Bud Pro's and the stand are back in stock! I just had it price-matched with JB Live Chat and then used my perks voucher ($20 off $200).

  • Received my buds pro exactly 24 hrs after my order. Thanks OP

  • Has anyone price matched through jb hifi chat then paid in store? Looking to use a westfield gift card

    • +1

I priced match with JB online and got a deal, I think you can't use other cards to pay, but I think what you can do buy a JB gift card in store with that Westfield card and use it online? If that doesn't work - buy any product - return in 10 minutes saying change of mind - they will give you a gift card in return which you can use online.
OR - if you want to Officeworks beats the price by 5% so $142.50 is what you pay.

  • Thanks OP! Still showing as in stock. Price matched through JB Chat including delivery.

  • Was always on the fence about getting this, but at this price it was enough to convince me to get one. Price matched with JB Hifi chat and picked it up within the hour. Thanks OP !! Now, do I need the wireless charger ?!?! Hmmmmm

  • Been waiting for a price drop and at $150 it's a great deal. Just purchased and it delivered in 2 days. Thanks OP.

  • Final 3 days to grab the pods at this price!

  • +3

I bought these a few weeks ago and I would not recommend them tbh. Really weird quirks, when taking calls the audio doesn't automatically come up on the buds and I have to manually change in on the phone, this defeats the whole purpose of wireless buds. Plus when the audio from the call is on the buds, I can only hear it in one ear bud.

The next gripe would be the fit of them, they fit okay but when you compare these to airpods pro that I also have, it's quite disappointing.

    • Sounds like you got a defective set.

    • I was really excited for Pixel products when Pixel 6 was announced but after all the issues were reported including the front camera face recognition inability, I was a lot more negative on google's abilities with hardware. Their software capability is already a mess where Android 13 for tv is out and every new big brand tv model is still releasing in 2023 with Android/Google tv 10.

      • That's not google's fault - that is the TV manufacturers fault

        • What? All of the manufacturers? At some point you would think the common denominator is Google

          • @fuzor: Why would it be Google's fault? Google can't force them to use different versions of open source software - the companies are the ones choosing to do that. Just like phone manufacturers spent half a decade still using outdated micro USB in phones when USB-C was available.

The common denominator is companies are lazy and will do the minimum effort to sell things

            • @DiscountForThee: sometimes it can be hardware limitation as well

if it doesn't run as reliable or slower on their TV then they won't update it.

Also they might want to keep updates for future TV model,
which differentiate last year model vs next yr or whatever etc..

They do this also can incentivize people to buy new TV etc

              • @pinkybrain: Yeah, all of those things too - not Google's fault like old mate is suggesting haha

                • @DiscountForThee: actually it can also be google's restriction too

like how apple cuts off certain iDevices from installing iOS 16 or whatever latest..
or microsoft not letting PC install windows 11 without TPM chip or 8th gen cpu
even though it has been proven that pcs below those specs can run windows 11.

they also could have licensing restriction that only allows this version of android to be installed on this hardware..

Hard to know the actual reason/s

                  • @pinkybrain: Those are all still on the manufacturers. They have the option to be compliant, or release outdated hardware… And guess which they've chosen?

                    • @DiscountForThee:

Those are all still on the manufacturers. They have the option to be compliant, or release outdated hardware… And guess which they've chosen?

we don't really know what the reason/s is so pointless talking about who's fault it is..
                      could be A, B or both A and B.
It does not affect me who is to blame..

For some reason you seem be 100% certain to think it is B is fault which is odd, do you have any proof?

Unless you working at of those manufacturers companies and making those decision, nobody really knows…

                      • @pinkybrain: Here's an article, from Android Authority (who may know a thing or two about, you know, Android) blaming the manufacturers: https://www.androidauthority.com/android-tv-update-problem-3…

If Google is explicitly restricting an OEM from using the newest OS, this would be clearly documented. If the OEMs were choosing not to use the newest OS to benefit the customer (e.g. there was massive functionality loss or security holes) then this would be easy to access news. The OEMs would boast that they're not using it. I haven't found anything to indicate any of this, so it falls again on the OEMs making the choices.

Use your logic for a minute pls, why would the creator of the operating system spend so much time, effort, and money to create and advertise the newer versions… just to actively prevent manufacturers from using it ?

                        • @DiscountForThee:

                          Use your own logic..

If you own a PC, 7th gen CPU etc.
Microsoft enforces rule to that you need 8th gen + TPM to install Windows 11.

Is it your fault you don't have 8th gen CPU with TPM
                          OR
Microsoft's fault for enforcing that rule that you need it.

And we know that Windows 11 can run on PC's with those requirements.

Stop making out like you know what is going at Google or at the TV manufacturer

You don't know, so stop acting like you know.

                          • @pinkybrain:

Is it your fault you don't have 8th gen CPU with TPM

                            1) Lmao no, it is the TV manufacturers fault for the following:

Android 13 for tv is out and every new big brand tv model is still releasing in 2023 with Android/Google tv 10

It would be like Dell releasing a new computer, in 2023, and it having a 7th gen CPU. Then some genius comment comes along and says the following:

Microsoft's software capability is already a mess where Windows 11 is out and every new big brand PC model is still releasing in 2023 with Windows 10

                            2) If there was any restrictions - which were preventing OEM's from releasing Android TV that is a few versions out of date - that have been enforced by Google it would be very widely known and easily accessible. Lots of news would report on it but I still can't find the hard restrictions. Can you help me out with that? I feel like that would prove your point in seconds and prove me wrong. I'm not acting like I know what is going on, I'm acting like I can do some google searches and find out what is up. Also check out the Android TV subreddit if you want a picture of how well the manufactures are keeping their things up to date. It's a meme.

                            3) The link you provided doesn't suggest that Google is preventing the other manufacturers from using it

                            4) Another article, directly blaming the OEMs (and wishing that Google would place some restrictions on the OEMs) https://9to5google.com/2019/08/29/android-tv-long-term-updat…

                            • @DiscountForThee:

Didn't say Google is preventing the other manufacturers from using it.
Read the article, it explains it clearly why there is no Android 13 out for the Android devices (TV, android boxes).

                              END OF STORY..

                              No need to keep replying,
                              the problem is solved..
Now move on with your life.

If you think you are right then so be it.
Go argue with the article or someone else cos
                              I don't give a shit.

                              • @pinkybrain: The discussion is about Google being at fault for why TV OEMs are releasing Android 10 in 2023. That article doesn't suggest that google is at fault for that. You haven't provided any links for google being at fault. I have provided a few links for the OEMs being at fault for outdated versions.

We can, using that information, think whatever we like, I guess :)

                        • @DiscountForThee: Also here is an article I found

                          https://www.androidpolice.com/android-tv-13-now-finally-avai…

Android TV 13 exited the beta testing phase last December and finally arrived for developers to update their apps and services, but there were no big-ticket features that end users would be expected to care about.
The new version of Google's big-screen OS only introduced a minor update primarily focused on performance and accessibility improvements, with no significant customer-facing changes. This probably explains why it wasn't immediately available on actual hardware at the time of its unveiling

Google quietly announced that Android 13 is now available for Android TV, though its availability is fairly limited at the moment. As 9to5Google notes, you can only download the update if you have an ADT-3 developer box, a streaming device for Android TV development that was recently discontinued. For the time being, this leaves many of the best Android TV boxes out in the cold, and it may be some time before Android TV 13 arrives on the Chromecast with Google TV or the Nvidia Shield TV.

It should be noted that in the case of Android TV 12, Google did not actually push the update to any piece of hardware until October 2022, even though it was released in December 2021

This was posted on the Google community forums:

This issue is very common and was discussed many times on Reddit.

It happens for EVERY user with a SAMSUNG phone that uses the touch to use Google Assistant on a SINGLE bud.

If you disable the touch to use assistant from both buds you'll be able to make calls with both earbud with no problem (again this is an issue that EVERY Samsung phone user who has this set suffers).

I run into the same issue as you, need to give the above a try.

      • Thanks mate will try this! But I think it's still real crappy on Googles part to have this issue when I can use my airpods on my Samsung phone just fine without issues.

        • I'm in exactly the same boat as you, sold my Airpod Pro's for this. Hopefully they fix it ….

  • not a fan of these, bought these to replace my xm4 that got RMA'd back to sony. The buds pro just dont fit my ears cause of the thick bean shape, it just sits outside and not make a seal in the ear canal. Tried replacing the original tips with spinfits too. Will wait for XM5s then sell these.

    • who buys second hand earbuds?

      have you tried ear surgery?

      • oh shit i guess second hand market for bluetooth earphones dont exist and the last 4 pairs i sold were all bought by bots 🤡🤡

        • +1

was talking about earbud not earphones
meant from a disgusting point of view, with your earwax and hygiene shit..

meh.. maybe some people don't give a sheet

  • is this water proof?

  • Thanks OP. I picked these up with the $150 credit I received with the Pixel 7a reduced to $675 using Clickfrenzy code, and costing $573.75 using 15% off TCN cards.
    Triple Ozbargain combo special

  • Hi all, normally dont comment as I tend to just trust the community on bargains and what not, got so many crap to last a lifetime hehe, (I'm the old man that wears Adidas from head to toe, in ur face fashion) anyways, prob too late, but there's a bloody known issue that I never read about til I was using these, there like a 0.5-1sec lag when gaming or watching video, apparently it's a Bluetooth codec issue, which was known 8months ago, yet no new firmware to fix, so gather it won't be fixed, bit annoyed as now gotta go thru the return process, & this mob is useless already, if anyone knows of the fix, would love to know, as the buds itself are great,

    • Yeah Google are pretty useless. A software company that cant back its own hardware products with firmware fixes is a joke.

    • Did some more research, I didn't realise all Bluetooth have latency issues, in saying that I don't see it with my Sony's, so yeah it is wat it is

  • Returned back to original price. Hopefully we can see them drop it again. Was about to purchase as well 🥲
