Seiko Presage SRPF39J Cocktail Time Automatic Watch $399 Delivered ($20 off with sign up) @ Watch Depot

660

Looking for a $500+ watch because of this, and found this, did a search and here we are. I had the Frozen Margarita version of this when they first came out a couple years ago and were selling for about $600 on sale. I think they were supposed to be limited edtitions. I flipped mine because it's not for me. This is a great price if you like this style, and it's actually really nice in person, especially the dial and hardlex dome (hard to get a sapphire dome like that at this price). More pics here: http://web.archive.org/web/20210920032717/https://timeandtid… (link was broken and had to use the Wayback Machine to get a working link. Shout-out to @Muzeeb)… shit, I might buy one, I don't have many brown dials. Going for $560-750 elsewhere

          • @G-rig: Hah, I ended up buying the last stock of this watch https://starbuy.com.au/seiko-diamond-set-mens-watch-ssc514p/.

They price matched watchdepot at $599, with free express postage and faster dispatch time. Watchdepot would have been $606 with the voucher & shipping.

Not much of a saving there, but an immense saving from the $1,150 RRP many stores are still charging.

            • @blazinchoppa: Nice one that's pretty pimping.

I've bought from both. Probably agree that starbuy is much quicker turnaround.

Yes and as a rule should always aim for about half of Seiko's RRP on most of the watches

  • Damn, this one finally either went OOS or it's stopped being sold via OP's website anyway..

    • I guess I won't be getting one; probably for the best because I'd hardly wear it

Same as me, I finally got around to buying it and luckily for me too, it probably wouldn't get as much use as my others.. if any really. But boy did it sure look pretty. I've only used 3 of my 11 watches, my 3 cheapest, WatchNerds favourite SKMEI, that white/black $30 Casio from a few months ago and a green/green no logo SD1970 that I use as my, running if errands, watch.. 🤣

I've used one of my 100+, a vintage titanium Citizen Thunderbird ana-digi NOS because it arrived in the mail and I had to adjust the bracelet and work out the functions. Now it's going into a box never to be seen again.

I wear a Huawei band 7 like 99% of the time.

@rosebank: Gawdang, thanks for oneupping me like that, RIP.

That's a nice looking vintage watch though!

You're an ACTUAL collector with that 1/100+ ratio.. 😅

            • @WasBargain: I also got a NOS vintage Citizen pocket watch (my first!) made for the Suzuka F1 circuit still in the box with papers, and a JGSDF watch on original bracelet, which I adjusted and put in a box.

I wear a Huawei band 7 like 99% of the time.

            Function over fashion heh.

I wear a Fitbit charge 5 fitness tracker but stays on my right arm 24/7, it's more minimal though and only have to charge once a week - proper watches on left hand.. best of both worlds :).

Would like to refine and update my collection to keep under about 10 watches with a one in one out policy as you don't end up wearing them enough, but can't see there is any market for used homages etc. Easy enough to sell and swap around G-Shocks and brand name watches (although finding it hard to move my oris on eBay, probably too expensive).

PS agree that the Seiko presage dials look great but don't think I'd get much wear out of them either, kind of an evening dress watch. Another reason I prefer drive watches, dress up or down.. good having a few solar/quartz and casios to just grab and go. Field watches are great too for the legibility. For me I like the idea of GADA watches (go anywhere do anything) which I think would include decent water resistance, knock proof (or at least not scratch magnets), decent lume etc.
