      sorry still half asleep!

      • All good, best to use @ instead of at and + instead of plus or it will still get revised. Either way thanks for posting.

Anyone know the best picture setting for this?
When i run the preset “HDR” the picture starts lagging on and off.
Currently just running “vivid” which doesnt lag at all, but picture doesnt look as good as HDR.

    • +1

i couldnt crack it myself theres a few youtube vids showing you setups for gaming and stuff. but i thought it was preforming to its max compared to some of the reviews i seen

      • +1

Mmm i followed one of them that refined the “movie” preset but the lag was even worse haha.

        • +2

I found the image quite juddery throughout my whole experience with it. I just assumed I had a bad panel as the reviews says it can be compared to oled. Imo there’s no comparison Oleds the clear winner in my eyes

  • +4

I too found the picture incredibly juddery, especially for sport. It became unwatchable.

    • +3

Strongly agree not sure why your being downvoted I had this tv for 3 weeks in my setup and wasn’t a great experience for myself. Only posted as I thought my panel was defective as the reviews are great for this tv

    • TCL simps don’t vote this person down. Thanks for the product feedback @eccaz.

      • -1

The problem with TCL owners is that their affinity for TCL forms part of their identity, and so they take it as a personal insult when anyone suggests that TCL’s can have issues.

    • Have you tried reducing the setting on one of the motion smooth options or simply disable it? I found it becomes better after I did this, which is also mentioned in one of Vinson's videos.

    • +1

Was it the 75” version? As you move up in size judder becomes pronounced as the objects in the image moves further between frames. I heard turning on judder reduction on a low setting can fix it (without giving you the soap opera effect)

I have the 65" and have tried your suggestion. It had little improvement.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds like this is a common issue with TCL

I would have to agree with the above comments about picture lag. Very frusting when watching a movie / sport and the image starts to lag on and off.

I have also tried a number of settings but couldn't figure it out.

Knowing this, I would not buy this TV again. What tempeted me was the price.

I replaced a 12+ year old Sumsung FHD TV 55". (In the spare room, still going strong)

I was choosing between this and the Sony X90K. Ended up with the Sony due to it being better for sport. Sounds like I made the right choice.

      • +1

        I think you definitely did.

      • My 2 original choices but had to say no to the Sony as it’s old tech compared to miniled although the local dimming is some of the best I think you made the right choice. Although for a extra $1200 you could’ve had a cs 77 which shits all over the Sony and tcl

        • To think the X95k (Sony's miniled) costs more than LG C2's accross most sizes is some kinda joke.

I was watching afl yesterday no issues didnt notice anything wrong but i wasnt paying attention to anything sp might be. But nothing outstanding if it was.

    • +1

Did you turn off motion smoothing?

      • Hey Canberralad92

Yeah, I played around with all those. There was also a judder reduction menu from memory that did very little.

Do you have this model? How's your experience? Do you mind sharing your settings?

        • +1

I dont have this model but have beenresearching, some reviews did say to turn off motion smoothing etc to reduce any lag/juddering in movies etc. Sorry wish I could be of more help - thanks for the heads up on the issues you are having. Im considering between this TV and the much cheaper c735 as a loungeroom set up (already have an OLED for gaming / PC.)

I was just waiting for the prices to come down and they are. Was more so interested in the c935, but then heard about all the issue with that and now hearing the issue's with the c835. Its a shame TCL have what seams like a great bunch of miniLED panels, let down by subpar processing.

Are many of these issue's simply fixed with a Google TV dongle or is more complex than that, I assume the later, but thought I'd ask.

    • +1

The issue is the tv picture settings not the interface so a dongle wont solve the issue unfortunately.

Then again, maybe this isnt an issue and just requires more fiddling with the settings (which is annoying and shouldnt really happen with a brand new tv).
There are some settings which dont lag, just need to find a sweet spot.

  • I am not entirely sure but do TCL offers any software updates etc ?

  • +1

There are so many variables involved and a million reasons why someone might experience "lag" in their set up.

Vincent did a proper review of this TV and didn't call out any particular issue with motion performance as far as I remember. He did call out below par upscaling, broken Dolby Vision and possible uniformity issues. The latter will be highly variable unit by unit.

I have had this tv for 7days. I just can't seem to get the motion smoothing dailed in tried external devices played with motion settings and including leaving off played with display modes, it's just to jerky on all formats Sdr and Hdr. Example is playing Netfix S1 E2 Marco Polo in HD example is from 48:28 to 49:12 paning shot produces sufficient amount of jerkyness, or walking dead S1 E1 in hd from 4:43 to 4:27 paning up, happens on other movies also. Can anyone help and don't want soap opera effect as a fix.

    • +1

ffs everyones got the same problem. for $1500 its a good price but youll have to live with the motion not being great on it.

    • -1

Just tried Marco Polo on mine - looks pretty good to me.
Didn't try Walking Dead - even for me, watching from 4:43 to 4:27 is difficult. ;)

      • 4:27 to 4:43 what size screen do you have

        • 75C835

    • Can anyone help and don't want soap opera effect as a fix.

Realistically, get a better quality TV.

    • I've had mine (75") for a few days now and have been tinkering a little.. Playing shows/movies via Jellyfin (Plex alternative) I have had zero issues with motion smoothing - off is a bit stuttery, Blur Reduction @ zero and Judder Reduction 2-5 is a nice compromise for those who don't like SOE, and cranked both settings to 10 is buttery with only minor artefacting around subjects during high motion.

I don't have any issues with SOE but am very sensitive to stutter so I like it cranked to max, as does my partner

      BUT
When we switch over to YouTube - whether we're watching SDR/HDR, 1080p/4k, 25/30/60fps - doesn't matter, all motion smoothing settings have inherent judder which I find annoying and distracting. Strangely it seems to be only 1 or 2 hiccups per second, which implies that the majority of frames are interpolating and displaying just fine…
Turning it off results in the usual low fps stutter but at least it's consistent frame times.
I haven't tried other apps yet since these are what we use for 99% of our content consumption.. for now I have the settings dialed in for Jellyfin and we just deal with subpar youtube motion

For reference, I use the same definition as rtings:
Stutter = Low frame rate, but consistent frame times
Judder = inconsistent frame times @ any frame rate

Actually, just bought this TV last night yet to be delivered. I'm a little surprised to read these comments as I had a scroll through the whirlpool thread about this TV and didn't really come across this motion issue. I guess I will see when I get it.

    • -1

I also did purchased same TV yesterday yet to be delivered. Fingers crossed 🤞

Anyone can comment on C735 picture quality?I know this one got better picture quality because of Mini Led but after reading comments I don’t want to take a risk. Thanks

  • +1

Just a heads up for those with a sonos playbar via optical.
Theres an issue where you cant really control your playbar volume with the tv remote.
It takes many, many spam button presses to register once on the sonos.

I spoke to sonos who admitted there was a problem on both tcl and sonos end with no ETA on a fix..
