      • You'd think so but it doesn't unfortunately.

Using Chrome on my iPad it works fine, but using Chrome on my mobile, it just goes to the next field. Luckily there's also a search button on the site but it's a pain in the backside having to scroll back to the top to use it.

    • That’s so true with the request desktop, If apple does a foldable Phone (iOS / iPadOS 😍) I’ll throw away my zfold3 & my main iPhone 😂

  • I have Fold 3 and it is great, the only complain is the tiny front screen. Really wish Xiaomi sell their folding phone here tho, Mi Mix Fold 2 looks really good

Amazon look like they're price matching

  • Waiting for the S23U offer on Amazon again
    Good price tho OP

I had the Fold 3 and I loved it. I actually used the device on the go to write articles for Medium and also review spreadsheets that customers' sent to me. So not only did the form factor appeal to me, I also used it to make money on the go, it was an excellent device for me.

However, my initial Fold 3 developed an issue with the screen protector, and eventually, the interior screen stopped working. Then I had to endure the nightmare that is Samsung support. In the end after many months they just refunded me. I bought the phone again from Officeworks, thinking I just had a bad device. The second device starting having issues 6 months in again, with the speakers not working when the phone was more than 45 degrees open. These are all known, common issues that happen in the wild, but Samsung continues to ship a "near enough good enough" device without remediating these issues.

Samsung currently has a great idea in the Fold series, but lazy hardware design and software decisions, complicated by an abhorrent support situation in Australia are making them an absolute no-go. Simple things like, how can you make a UTG (ultra-thin glass) panel fold back and forth innumerable times, but then apply a screen protector to it that breaks after six months? It's insane.

In case you're reading this and you're very invested (unlikely), I wrote an article detailing my experience here: https://medium.com/geekculture/how-samsung-squandered-its-le…

Check out reddit. There are lots of posts around the hinge failing on the fold 4 due to a new design, havent heard of the hinge issue on f3 though.

  • Managed to get extra 100$ code from samsung directly so makes it 1399 (via live chat) + you can stack it with trade in bonus

    • Oh! What did you tell them.
Tried asking and they said they don’t issue $100 discount code :(

      • Initially I was asking, can they price match amazon (for the 512gb), they said they don't do price match.

and then I was just asking if they can give me any additional discount (I'm doing trade in with my iphone).

        • I think the customer service officer you were chatting with was really nice. The one I chat with insisted there isn’t any other discount apart from the $50 sign up voucher :(

    • confirmed this as well, this is the T&C:

Promotion code valid until (7 days from date of issue)]. Limit 1 promotion code per customer per transaction. Promotion code must be used in full in one single transaction and is valid on Flagship Galaxy S22 SERIES, Z FOLD 4 or Z FLIP 4 only. Valid for use on the Samsung Online Store (shop.samsung.com/au/) only, excluding Samsung Education Store, Samsung Business, Samsung Enhanced Partnership Portals and Samsung Government. Discount is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Not redeemable in conjunction with any other offer or promotional code unless otherwise specified.

    Shame no trade in bonus

    • $1,149.40
      *
      with trade-in*

  • Given too many complains I've heard I think I will just simply grab a tablet instead.

  • Samsung trade in is not working atm :/

If you're returning any device to Samsung for warranty please take lots of pictures before handing the device. Here is my experience I had with Samsung support.

    • that's not good, on the other hand I did take lots of photos (and videos) and thankfully nothing wrong happened. My S22+ was basically brand new though, so it would be hard to blame me for anything

Is samsung care+ worth it? Planning to get one, however review seems very bad.

  • Do I jump on this …. Or wait for the next gen?

    • This is $1499. Fold 5 will be $2300+

    • The fold 5 will be more slim.

  • I was getting it for around 1150AUD from Samsung website.
But it says: All items in the order will ship on the pre-order shipping date: 08 May 2023
Ugh! Needed a phone immediately :( Did anyone order from Samsung yet? Did you get any confirmation?

  • Grabbed 256gb black for $1080

    $1500
    -$350 trade in
    -$100 voucher
    +$30 non device return fee

$1080 total, not bad. Thanks OP.

    • +$30 non device return fee

      not 60 ?

      • Yep, it said $30, the trade in value was $1, I think higher value trade ins = $60 non return fee ?

  • Have had my fold4 for 6 months. Great phone. I work in an office job and take care of it pretty well… have accidently dropped it 1-2 times but Samsung case has done well to protect it. Only annoying thing is the S pen is bulky if you add it to the case and I miss having a stylish included in the phone for when I need to sign documents virtually

  • A little bit cheaper at Costco.

  • Are you guys buying samsung care or any type of insurance on this phone? Apparently screen replacement is 820$. Quite expensive.

    • +1

Yeah, going two years of Samsung Care+. All up it's $700 to swap out my device for a brand new one in 2 years time - and if they don't have stock of the 4, they'll have to give me a newer model. I'd usually spend about that much on a new phone by that time anyway, so worth it for me, along with the safety of insurance.

      • Do you get brand new phone or refurbished?

        • I believe mine was brand new.

  • From someone who has never done samsung care

My phone is coming today, whats the best/cheapest way to get samsung care? Im assuming i have a certain time to do it

    • I think you can only buy it at the time of purchase, not after.
      I might be wrong however

      • +2

        Within 30 days of purchase

  • To bad the Pixel Fold NOT be offered in Australia what bloody joke
