Opinions about Long Life Fruit Juice for Daily Consumption

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to hear your opinions about the fruit juices that you daily consume. I'm just concerned about the health impact on using long life bottled juices (for example Coles Juice ($2.80)). Is there any significant long term advantage in moving to more expensive juices in the cooler section than using these long life fruit juices? If so what brands and types of juice do you use for your daily intake? And as always as ozbargainers do you have any tips to cut the price down 😊

Thank you so much for your time and opinions.

Probably not if at all much difference health wise, and juice isn’t needed for daily intake, have water and fruit

  • Dont drink a lot of juice, bad for stomach acid.

But preference Nippys, Berri fresh, over cordial/juice blends (for example, Nippys juice with pulp vs their Orage Grove line)

There's so many chemicals in today's processed food an no-one can claim to know the exact impacts that those chemicals on humans long term. What's thought to be 'healthy' and 'harmless' today could be found to be carcinogenic in "studies" over the next few years. Or vice versa.

The only thing you can do is avoid processed food (even fresh food can be problematic!) as much as you can or have everything in moderation.

I've heard of long life milk but I've never heard of long life juice. What the heck is long life juice?

Juice isn't very healthy because it's full of sugar and lacks fibre which is required to prevent an inflammatory blood glucose spike. That being said the main "juice" I drink is Bickford's Blueberry "Fruit Drink".

Haha, that's the least of the concerns with juices, the incredibly high amount of sugar should be far more of a concern :/

Price hack: Use water instead for health and savings :P

I love it when supermarket take long life fruit juice (majority reconstituted juice) in a bottle and put them in fridges so people think they are better for their health.

Fruit juices are all pack full of sugar with very little dietary fibre. You might as well just mix water with cane sugar and pop a vitamin pill down. You are better off just taking a fruit whole, at least you get the majority of the fibre from eating it.

    • Raw coconuts are a bit tricky though so prefer the coconut water refrigerated bottle for ease of use.

There is a general negative health impact of consuming fruit juice. This is due to the high sugar content. A can of orange juice has roughly the same amount of sugar as a can of coke. It's generally better to consume the fruit itself as you will consume the sugar with the fibre. No idea about the difference between regular fruit juice and the long life stuff.

Daily intake of juice? The answer is don't drink it daily.

Basically it's cordial with a little bit of fibre and vitamin C, you're much better off just not drinking it.

  • My main issue with long life juice its just flavoured water, it also has a sickly sweetness with a strange aftertaste. I cannot drink anything but cold pressed juice these days.

As other have said. Just eat the damn fruits. If health is your concern, you should not drink this stuff at all

  • Thank you all for your comments! You know what, if you shopped at coles last week you might have already seen that they have slashed the health stars of these fruit juices … the 5 star ratings are now 2 - 2.5 and so 😄😄😄
