$40 off $80 Spend on Groceries @ Uber Eats (Uber One Exclusive)

150

Just checked my app, nice promo not sure if targeted

Note that some people reporting that Coles 50% off in store sometimes charged full price / substituted with more expensive items

  • Didn't know that Uber does the same as DD in that the driver does the shopping. The guy even threw the receipt into the bag and had 140 Masterchef credits!

Bought something that i need with the promo that wasn't on special this week

The driver does not do the shopping, just because you found a receipt is not proof of this.

Driver definetely did order and communicated with me about picking and substitutes whenever I’ve ordered and the Australian Financial Review has even reported as much?

        https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.afr.com%2Fcompanie…

      • Driver definitely does do the shopping. I even messaged with him when he marked something as being out of stock

      • Drivers only do shopping at Coles at the moment.

If u order lots of something and they end up out of stock, u can opt for refund and still keep the $40 off.

I ordered like $50 worth of honey and $30 worth of dog food. Some dog food was out of stock I opted to refund.

Ended up just paying $18 for 5 bottles of honey and a few cans of dog food delivered.

I'm not going anywhere near Uber Eats until they give me back my money.

As the OP said, some of us purchased seafood and meat which was advertised as 50% off at Coles.

They then charged us full price when the item was substituted for another.

For example: I purchased Tassal Lemon Salmon Fillets at 50% off and they swapped it to Tassal Salmon Fillets but removed the 50% discount so we paid full price even though all seafood should be discounted.

I bought 3 packs of lamb cutlets from IGA during the 50% off. Each item was listed as being approximately 500g. When the order arrived, they were all around 300-350g as per labels on the front. So in total I was short changed 500g when you add all of them up and Uber was not helpful at all.

  • Just mention refund if item not available

  • No substitute

  • My offer was $20 off $50 spend.

  • I just took advantage of the 30% off promo. Ordered a lot, a lot were apparently out of stock including the common items and got refunded for those. At the end though, I had $10ish Adjustments in the total. Not sure what that's for. Separate from Delivery and Service fees.

    • So many items that are incredibly common were not included for me.

And anything from the deli replaced with packaged stuff at 3x the price.

      Not worth it.

Yeah i did a shop last night to get the last of the 50% off. Strictly no substitutes. This resulted in half a shop missing absolute basics that are definitely in stock.

They are apparently being paid an award wage negotiated by a union so they're being paid for it. But my guy was in the shop for 90 mins, missed tons of stuff and despite a strict no substitutes he swapped out items with random other things at full price.

Lesson learned. Grocery delivery with gig workers does not work.

    • Ensure you complain to Uber and then to Coles as this is an issue impacting numerous people.

      • You're right but I feel awful throwing a worker under the bus. Which is silly cause they're causing these problems. But their job is terrible.

One of them was named Mohammed and didn't deliver most of my pork items. I dunno, it may have been an issue for him. I'm not happy about it but not super keen to make his life hard. He was a nice kid, just a bit dim.

        • I think it’s the same thing with taxi driver who refused to take passenger with guide dog.

The issue is not the passenger, but the dog itself since they considered it not clean.

Some will misunderstood that the driver doesn’t want to help the needy passenger, which is not the case.

        • If he swapped out seafood/meat for seafood/meat (and that's the promo you had), you should be given 50% off. Uber's system should recognise that.

Asking drivers to do a shop is a recipe for disaster in any event.

I had great experience with all of my promos, worked the opposite of people getting ripped of as above…

    Example was $40 off $80.
    No substitutions allowed.
About $30 worth not available and was refunded full amount not the net 50% price I paid.
So ended up with $50 worth of stuff for $10.

Worst experience with coles orders via Uber. Both times I have been charged twice or charged more than I should have with Ubers chat little to no help.

    • Ensure you complain to Coles as well if Uber fail to help.

Coles need to know as things like this don't help their brand.

Coles Online can be contacted on 1800 455 400. The Coles Facebook team sent me there.

I'll be escalating this to Coles management if Uber do not resolve this.

  • Has anyone noticed if Coles removed the discounted items? Doesn't show any anymore

    • Yup, just saw that today when I placed my order.

  • Tried this out, mixed outcome. Got most stuff but 1 or 2 items either picked incorrectly or substituted - eventhough I set to refund. Had a couple that’s wasn’t found so refund should come along. I can see the pending charge but can’t see actual receipt on Uber. Got the real receipt in bag. Tossing whether I can be bothered complaining about the incorrect or substitute items…watcha reckon?

    • Complain you'll get refund or compensation until they think U complain too much

      • Can't even complain as there are no numbers to call and Help ticket takes forever to be responded to.

Because some items weren't available, my order went down to $70 and the promo was removed.

Contacted Uber Eats from the app for 2 weeks now and only a half ass reply a couple days ago asking what error message, when I never mentioned an error message. Is there a direct number I can call to?

    • I'm having the exact same issue. They don't have a number, but you can try their twitter channel. They replied to me after 2 weeks, asking for a screenshot of the promo. Which obviously I don't have, since the promo ended almost 3 weeks ago.

      • Same, that's what they replied after 2 weeks via Help.

      • Are you having any luck mate?

        • No, I gave up in the end. Turns out the twitter team simply passed my request back to the in-app help team. It seems that there is no complaints/escalation process.

          • @Sparhawk1: Facebook team just said case closed. No further action. Like how could they get away with this?

  • Can anyone please message me with a screenshot of the promotion?

Support kept insisting for an email screenshot and I had long deleted the promotion. They are not reading what we are saying but just being a robot repeating the same thing.
