            • @Niko123456: New subscriptions 24/5, renewals 28/6.

Maybe you saw the "on the date of your next renewal." part but overlooked the "The new price will apply from June 28, 2023" part. I did at first.

              • @bamzero: Oh what, so re my question from the comment below:

Since the new prices are starting on 28/6/23, can I cancel my current monthly membership entirely and purchase the annual one at $59.99 before 28/6?

                That's a no?

                • @pizzaguy: Yeh that ship has sailed unfortunately.

                  • @bamzero: That's too bad. Thanks.

I really wish that had been mentioned in the original post, as otherwise it's just selectively quoting Amazon's statement and it conveyed a somewhat misleading message…

    • Mine still renews on the 19th of July for $79/year. You got me excited for a bit there. :(

  • I wanted to switch from monthly to annual while it's still at $59.99. Amazon Prime shows me I'm on a $6.99/month plan that renews on 12 July 2023, and it shows me the details:

    Upcoming change
On 12 July 2023 you will change your plan to: Monthly AUD$ 9.99

    and two options:

    Prime Monthly $9.99/month* CURRENT MEMBERSHIP
    * Price as of 12 July 2023
    BEST VALUE Prime Annual $79.00/year
    Save $40.88 with annual

So it suggests that I change to Prime Annual that's going to be applied on 12/7/23 at the new price. I don't want that.

Since the new prices are starting on 28/6/23, can I cancel my current monthly membership entirely and purchase the annual one at $59.99 before 28/6?

    • Seems no and it's too late for the existing memberships to use the old prices.

And new memberships get 30-day free trail after which Amazon charges the new prices anyway.

I don't need Prime Video and other Amazon's services, so I guess I'm switching to what I've been practising with ebay plus - subscribe only when necessary.

You can probably ask customer service. Doesn't hurt to ask. Tell them you're a loyal customer etc etc

I did and the person in the online chat added $20 credit to my account which applied to my new annual membership, so it's $79.99-20=$59.99.

          • @pizzaguy: What did you say to get that? I wouldn't mind trying that before I cancel my account.

    • Just had the same thought. Answer is no.

I got this email after talking to their support, "For current members (including those on free trials), the new prices will apply from June 28, 2023, on the date of the member’s next monthly or yearly renewal. Note: If you are an existing Prime member and switch between Prime membership plans on or after 24 May 2023, i.e. switch from monthly plan to an annual plan or from an annual plan to a monthly plan, new prices will apply.

Customers can lock-in current $59 annual price for a year by switching from a monthly to an annual plan or signing up for an annual plan by May 24th, 2023."

I cancelled through chat but it looks like Amazon have already increased the prices on the website so you cannot resubscribe before the 28th at 59.99

  • So I looked at my Prime sub info the other day. In the last 12 months, I've had over 133 packages delivered (don't judge me). That's less than 50c a package delivered and doesn't include access to Prime Video, Music, Games etc. It's great value IMO.
