Philips C02 Gas Cylinder 60L $19 Pickup & in-Store Only @ The Good Guys

70

Normally $35 for a new cylinder, but Good Guys are selling it for $19 (the approximate price for a SodaStream refill). Saw it last night, did a click and collect for 2, and just picked it up!

Thought of getting a Sodastream machine, but liked the look of the Phillips Go Zero Soda Maker better… Been happy with it overall, but nothing to compare it to.
The good thing is that says it is compatible with Sodastream cylinders, but these Philips one above can only be exchanged in BIGW stores for now.

I'm not sure how much the cost of the refills for the Philips ones yet, but at the price of refills, I thought getting a couple spare cylinders would be a good idea.

      Where

Billy Bubbles, but they are currently only servicing Melbourne.

        https://billybubbles.com/

Also, they fill with 450g gas, the others are only 400g

        • I wonder if they just white label something as https://bubble.delivery/ 450g too.

          • @deme: I don't think so.

He started off the business a few years back servicing a couple of suburbs and has gradually grown to cover much of the CBD.

They also have referrals that gives the new customer and the referrer a free delivery.
It's in the OzBargain referral section.

          • @deme: I don't see any point doing that. CO2 costs a fraction to refill/produce…

          • @deme:

            as https://bubble.delivery/ 450g too.

They are $18 though, not $10

            • @jv: I'm in the no fun capital of Australia.
              Sydney.

  • Alot or reviews say this is only 40L

    • Ahh I haven't read anything about this.. but I did read lots of people in the UK wondering where to exchange them.. In Australia, it's in BIGW, but there's no information about the cost. Just says to bring the used one, scan the new one, and an 'automatic' discount applies.. (Source: Philips website)

      • They have more gas than the sodastream ones.

        peel off the label.
then say its a sodastream one

    • label shows 425g, so it should be more gas than the original sodastream bottles.

  • Any tips for a more economical solution?

Sydney, so can’t do the above comment $10 refill

  • +3

This is my method, 2.6kg lasts me a solid year, refills are $35 (thats one sodastream cylinder) for the cylinder on exchange.

Parts list $119 (that's 3.4 standard Sodastream cylinder refills)

    $50 Hose link
    $69 CO2 Gas cylinder 2.6kg

Or I noticed this, but at own risk, $19 make a rocket.
    sodastream adapter

    • Thanks

    • Can confirm that i've recently implemented this for my setup and it's an absolute lifesaver! refils are cheap af too with the keg. The sodastreem adaptor is finicky at best, i ended up losing a fair bit of the c02 trying to perfect the way to refill the bottle. Save yourself the trouble and utilize every bit of the c02 in the keg, get the freedom link. Probably genuinely one of the best investments i've currently made, as I'd be going through about 1.25L a day of carbonated water and refilling what felt like every 2 to 3 weeks.

      • Kegland is probably cheapest, next would be sodaking at spotlight when they do 40% every second month with coupons on top, only gripe is to get enough 4 empty cylinder to begin with.

      • Is it easy to find places to refill the co2 keg?

        • Literally any home brew suppliers.

    • this is the way

  • Just an additional note to those who have the Philips Soda Maker, the stainless steel bottles on clearance at BIGW a month ago (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/769041) don't hold the fizziness of the water as well as the plastic bottles.

  • Why would you bother with these, are they interchange with with Sodaking (and Sodastream screw in) cylinders? They were only just $12.60 at spotlight (refill, click and collect but they don't ask for the old one). 40% off fairly often
