using iphone, so this one or airpod pro 2?

    • +4

i upgraded from the airpod pro 2. i sat and played a song and constantly switched between the two to validate my own purchase. the qc2 sounds way better at louder volumes, and suprisingly stays in my ear way way better than airpod pros (no matter what size, they fall out when im at the gym making faces, i dont encounter this anymore with qc2). also semi customisable eq in bose app.

also the bass sounds and feels a lot more like bass.. whereas the airpod pros are almost just ratlting at higher volumes/base.

tl;dr overall, qc2 better. but if you already have pros, probably not worth to upgrade unless you sell your pros to make the money back. though the find my option on the airpods is awesome and will be missed.

      • +1

Yeah, this is the same as my experience. Especially the Find My bit…

I got some Comply tips for the AirPods though and it has made them tons better. Less leakage of bass rumble.

    • +1

I have airpods pro 2 and i love them! (upgraded from galaxy buds pro)
The sound is great, the controls are perfect, noise cancellation is top class, the fit is heavenly (i can sleep with them on pillow for those afternoon naps)
They also have hands down the best transparent mode and the best microphone for calls.
If you have an iphone it's a no-brainer, it's the best Apple product for me.

    • +3

      I have both.

      APP2 definitely.
Their transparency mode is significantly better. QC aware mode sometimes lets awful sounds through.
Their ANC is worse at the low frequencies (but still excellent), while equal or better at high frequencies.

Spatial audio is also surprisingly excellent for Netflix (also with Apple TV).

Lastly, the size and fact it uses the same charge port as the iPhone is pretty convenient.

I do like the new QC’s.. and they’re my second favourite pair. But the APP2 is the best overall package.

    • A bit of a side point but the only reason I would go Bose earbuds would be if they paired with their soundbar range for when my partner goes to sleep - but sadly they don’t - which makes APP2 the winner here. I lost my Airpods Gen 2 (which worked fine with my 2x Bose soundbars) and purchased the APP2 and they just won’t work. I called Bose and they said none of their earbud range nor APP2 pairs with their soundbars, and only their headphone range does. I tried everything. It’s uncomfortable to lie down with headphones. I ended up buying a AirFly Pro Bluetooth transmitter from Apple (which is certified to work with APP2) and just plug that into my TV’s 3.5mm jack now, and it works great. How Bose can release a range that doesn’t work with their own soundbar range baffles me!

      • Yeah and they are still 2x the price of what they are worth.

      • Why not pair directly with tv?

  • Thinking about buying one for online meeting.

    • +7

Don't if you plan to do this outdoors. Microphone quality is the biggest weakness of these imo.

  • How does the NC compare to Airpod pros? Do they push firmware that ruins the NC too?

    • +2

      https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/apple-airpod…

I've been watching them for a while. Only reason I haven't bought is lack of multipoint connections. Rumours of a firmware update to add the feature haven't occurred.

    • +7

Ive had both. The Bose QC2s are better at NC than AirPod Pro Gen2s.

SQ is slightly better with the AirPods, but the biggest advantage is Find My

      • And transparency. But yes, agree with you.

    • Only happened to airpods max, not applicable here

      • Ruined NC? I have the first pros and they went from complete silence to being able to hear the music at the gym while my music is on, people running on treadmills, at work I hear conversations a few bays away. The December/January FW update was made to let human voice in cause everyone needs to hear people speak, it’s not like there’s transparency mode for that. Maybe it’s not as bad on pro 2’s but I do recall people complaining online after the FW dropped

Got mine for $303 + $20 delivery + 4100 Qantas points bonus after stacking Qantas offers a few weeks back.

Hands down best sound quality for Bluetooth earbuds, and ANC is just on another level. Software can be a bit buggy and you can feel the size compared to the AirPods but they are impressive buds, would recommend.

  • Tempted to get these to replace my previous pair which went walkabout. But just picked up some AirPods Pro instead… :(

  • +1

Thanks, all-time low. Just bought a pair

  • +1

Bought these for about 350 a while ago. Expensive but very worth it, given I use them everyday and the qaulity is exepctional. Wish they worked better with one ear only though.

    • How is the NC for you for podcasts/calls? I can hear a lot of outside noise still. Cars driving past, leaves blowing, on the bus engine and rattles etc. Its a bit better with actual music but still im disappointed coming from old qc20s which i feel had a much better fit.

      • It is the best in class so if it isn't at the level you would like, there isn't any better options currently. IEMs might not have the same cancelling capability as full over-ear headphones.

Personally I find the ANC to be exceptional.

        • I guess i really need access to another set to compare against to know if mine are faulty.

      • Call me weird but I choose to actually use passthru for my calls so I can hear my own voice in my head more naturally.

    • Wish they worked better with one ear only though.

      In what way?

  • Bought them for $278 in March (thanks to my corporate access). Can say they are really good.

Noise cancellation is leagues ahead of my original Bose QC35

    • Im starting to think i got a bad set. Im struggling to rate the nc better than my qc20 or qc35. I mean nc is present its just eh..

      • +1

try a different set of ear tips if they not tight enough

        • They sit ok, but inferior to qc20 design imo.

    • Damm, I thought I get a best deal for replacing my aging Bose headphones for $279.

      • That discounted price you see is EPP pricing

    • -2

'Noise cancellation is leagues ahead of my original Bose QC35'

really ? in my experience such large earbuds were too heavy at risk of falling out

and didn't cancel noise as well as the over-ear QC35

probably depends a lot on a good seal with the silicone tips ?

I wasted $$$ on Apple AirPod Pros with which I couldn't get a good fit from any of the supplied silicone tip sizes, with the result they cancelled NF noise and I shelved those WOFTAMs.

  • Hello,

    I have Jabra 85t.

Do you guys suggest I upgrade to Bose one?

    • Probably a big upgrade

  • -3

Honestly people, spending 300 dollars on headphones that don't even support one of the many available high-bitrate codecs is not good value.

There's tonnes of better headphones out there if you take the time to research (granted, that's a lot of time).

I recently bought 10 pairs of TWS headphones to compare and if you're not using LDAC or HD AptX codecs you're going to get subpar audio and many headphones in the $100 range support one or more of these.

Note that none of this is relevant for iPhone users as there's a whole other bunch of stuff going on there that I won't get into but essentially they work fine with AAC due to hardware decoding (not sure if this applies to non-apple TWS which support AAC)

    • +1

What TWS headphones produce better sound than these?

The increase in bitrate is irrelevant if all the other options simply produce inferior sound compared. So what if they can use a different codec if they are limited by their hardware…

    • Now that they support aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless i think is less of an issue but the most discerning user, and ANC probably isn't high on the list for them anyway.

  • what about beoplay eq?

    • Dont get the earlier gens. Recent models are ok. But still overpriced.

      • Whats the never model? Its on eBay 327$ i think… After nuratrue pros… But 499 is way too much

  • How does everyone compare these to the upper end jabra products?

    • Not even close imo. ANC and sound quality superior

    • Very very very very very very very far.

Has these for a few weeks.
I've had constant connection issues as per the Reddit thread
The firmware update has helped keeping the connection stable on a device but has difficulty switching between devices where the it switches but nothing works.

Having qc35, qc35ii and 700 this has not been a problem.
Also I have the bud 2 pro which is great for Samsung phones but they are uncomfortable on my ear.

Giving it till the end of the week before I return. Which is a real shame as they are the most comfortable earbuds.

    • I've had these for a few months. I have had no connection issues whatsoever and the range I get is excellent with my Samsung phone.

  • Waiting for these to be $230-$250 from DJ :)

  • +3

AirPods Pro 2 - incompatibilty without Apple device, low end bass not great
Sony XM4 - uncomfortable, unergonomic design
Sennheiser MTW3 - battery and hardware issues
Bose QCII - microphone not good, bluetooth problems

Have your pick of the high-end headphones …

    • Agree with XM4

    • AirPods Pro 2 - incompatibilty without Apple device

Incompatible? No, they'll still pair and work with Android devices as they are just Bluetooth earbuds. But won't be able to adjust any settings/touch controls, will be stuck with the default setup.

      • +1

By definition, that is incompatibility… Also not sure how you can do firmware updates on them

        • By definition, that is incompatibility

Incompatible means it doesn't work. But it does work as earphones. You only need an Apple device if you want to adjust settings that some earbuds don't even have.

Also not sure how you can do firmware updates on them

Maybe that's a positive since it means you won't lose functionality that way. ;)

    • tried and failed the above - I stick with over-ear Bose QC35ii - in fact I'm wearing them now ;-)

  • +2

After using this for months, I find my airpods pro 2 now very ordinary.

As the kardashians said, once you go B, you wont go back.

    • Pete Davidson was an aberration

  • I am looking for a ear bud to join online meetings in places like train or bus. Is this good enough for it? If not what do you all suggest?

    • +1

No, the microphone will let you down. Try AirPods Pro 2 or JBL Live Pro 2 for a cheaper option.

  • No price match from Amazon??!

  • This or JBL Tour Pro2? it is also coming down to $279.65 after discount. The features look insane. Never heard before for true wireless earphones.

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/jbl-tour-pro-2-earbuds-569236…

    • Not sure what extra features they have but I wouldn't buy a premium JBL product personally. I bought the JBL Live Pro 2 which had the similar level of features and was honestly a great headphone but they were too buggy and the bluetooth dropped out constantly, had to return on warranty.

For that price you are well within the realm of the flagships like the Bose QCII, AirPods Pro 2, Sony XM4, Sennheiser TMW3.

      • Thank you. The unique features I thought were not present on other TWS earphones is the charging case has a touch screen UI that lets you do all the customizations that usually require you to take the phone out and use the app for. I never found it in any other ones.

        • This sounds insane You can however answer calls from the case – which is kinda cool if you can’t find your phone for the time being

          • +1

@usbc activist: For the most part the gestures on the earphones are relatively similar - touch and press to answer calls, turn on volume, adjust between transperancy and ANC

I actually really liked the JBL Live Pro 2, I would recommend it for a budget option, I think Amazon had it for $141 with a 10% coupon the other day, or else you might be able to get Officeworks to price beat Amazon down to $151 and then pay with 10% discounted gift cards down to $135 for the JBL Live Pro 2.

Honestly the JBL Tour Pro 2 might be worth it if the features are good but at that price range, I would expect them to be as good as the AirPods Pro 2. It looks like you really are paying a premium for those case features, which could be worth it

  • Can these be used as a sport earbud ie sweat resistant?

  • I've got these and love them.

    The ANC is superior.

Great sounding too. Can hear instruments clearly, especially if you have a Hi-Res subscription.

Battery life is good. Had it since November and use it 4 x a week in the gym with 1.5 - 2 hr sessions.

You won't have to charge the case for around 9 days.

As per what people write on bose reddit sub, these are bug ridden https://www.reddit.com/r/bose/comments/wwxzj0/quietcomfort_e…

    • Besides the occasional bluetooth connection issue mine have been going fine. Shame that such a high-end product has these issues though.

    • +1

Ive experience a fair few of these bugs (purchased from Qantas QFF sale)
Updated firmware has solved some of them, but still deciding if i should return them because the experience has been that bad.

      • +1

I'm in the same boat but at the same time, what much better is there to upgrade to? Besides AirPods Pro 2 (incompatibility if not in Apple ecosystem) there isn't much else. Maybe Sony XM5 when that comes out. But the sound quality and noise-cancelling on these puts basically everything else to shame.

Plus I don't want to lose my 5k bonus Qantas points by making a warranty claim :D

All in all I'd still recommend them above basically all other TWS headphones besides the AirPods Pro 2

        • JBL Live Pro2, Nura Buds are pretty nice and lot cheaper than these. Those are the ones I have experience using. You can also try the Google Pixel Buds Pro.

          • @usbc activist: Bought the Pixel Buds Pro, hated them, selling them now. Would take the JBL Live Pro 2 over them any day, for half the price. Currently looking at Sennheiser MTW3 for around $230 after discounts…

            • @rekke: May I know whats wrong with the pixel buds pro. I was thinking of buying them.

              • @usbc activist: They didn't fit well in my ears, that's it. The bass was impressive and the sound quality good, flawless connection and multi-point, Google Assistant was impressive. Noise cancelling not that of the Bose QCII but still decent with the right ear-tip fit.

I just didn't like the fit, ymmv. :)

    • Thanks for the link, after a read, I think I will hold my hands and wait for the improved version.

    • As per what people write on bose reddit sub, these are bug ridden

I've had mine for a few months and have not experienced any issues. The problem might be if you search online for issues with any product, you will find them… but that doesn't mean every single unit has issues.

It highlights the point that people who have not experienced any issues are just happily using the item, while those who have issues will start looking for reddit threads or review websites to look for a solution or complain. That would negatively skew the perception of a product since you're only hearing from one group of people.

  • These are the best earbuds for phone calls… outstanding

  • Bought one, my delivery was $5. (Metro Sydney)

  • +1

Has anyone been using them long-term and had issues? My senheiser mtw3's have stuffed themselves after 4 months of usage. Wanting to avoid any further issues if I buy another brand

    • +1

I've had mine since October and have had no issues. I switched from the Sony WF1000XM4 and find these more comfortable with slightly better noise cancellation in some bands.

      • Ok great! Batting up between Sony & Bose anyhow.

    • +1

I've had mine for a month, they do have bluetooth issues (drop out randomly maybe 2-3 times a week, don't connect properly maybe 1-2 times per week) but I am swapping between my PC, phone and I also have a bunch of other bluetooth connections that may be interfering.

From my own assessment they are performing at around 80% of what I would like, but for sound quality and ANC they are performing at around 105% what I wanted.

  • Picked these up for $185 from JB a few weeks ago. They have amazing sound.

    • +1

How did you get them for $185 from Jb Hi-Fi?

  • These are back on sale at a few places for $345, Amazon (includes free shipping), TGG and Harvey Norman.

  • Been using these for a week now, they app is hella buggy; but i honestly cantbget myself to return these; the noise cancelling and sound is eargasm worthy

  • Still waiting for delivery dispatch, apparently on order. sigh

  • Hi i have the same problemm maybe. I feel.a bit hurt when i use samsung bud.
Is this bose fit your ear well ? Comfort ?
