Seiko SNE547P Solar Prospex Tuna can 200m Divers Watch. This mens watch features a stainless steel case with hard coated plastic and a soft silicone dark green rubber strap, with a screw lock crown and a screw case back.

Featuring the Seiko solar powered V157 movement, the SNE547 has an accuracy tolerance of +/- 15 seconds per month. It also maintains charge for 10 months after the watch has been fully charged. The hands and the markers have lumibrite to make them visible at night (once fully charged). The case size is 46.7mm and thickness 12.6mm with a lug width of 22mm. Additional features include a date display at the 4'o clock marker, an overcharge prevention function, a low charge indicator and a quick start function.

What we love: A classic utility watch with all the functions required of a robust daily wear dive watch that is ideal for desk divers as much as it is for actual divers.

    @WatchNerd should I????? 🥹

    • +6

Depends if you like tuna or not. Good price though.

Op should add "Solar" to the title.

    • +8

Yes I have one and the red accents are nice. And the bezel, hands and indices are different to the regular tunas for a very clean cohesive look. I have about a dozen tunas, both auto and solar.

And I can vouch for durability. I put my watch box with all solars on the couch one sunny day with the lid open. My kelpie puppy stole 2 of them and buried them in the backyard, and I didn't even notice when i put the box back in the evening.

The little shit took this one and this Citizen LE. I found the Citizen about 2 weeks later and the band is a bit roughed up, but not too bad, it'd actually look pretty good after i restore it because it'd look "worn" in. Case and everything is fine, had to scrub the altimeter thing a few times with a toothbrush because it was packed with dirt.

This tuna didn't show up for another few weeks. Case is fine, crystal has a couple of small scratches, band is chewed up but whatever. Ran it under a tap, scrubbed it with a toothbrush and it's (almost) good as new. I have very rocky soil, and this thing was gone for at least 6 weeks. Bezel is fine, crown is fine, case is fine, still kept time, a couple of scratches on the hardlex but barely noticeable so idc. I got plenty of natos, or will just get a black pvd bracelet.

Insanely cheap. I paid $300 last time on special. Very pretty watch.

    • Not the best colourway but very good price. I like the grey one.

I should grab it for the moment perhaps.. bodged mine changing the glass and the date doesn't wind unless you wind the whole day.. never goes flat at least and they keep great time. Probably not worth it.

      • +1

i actually paid $399 for this when i bought. SO this is 50% off!

      • all sold , was going to get one and swap shroud for a stainless steel one to make it look a bit less like i’m a doomsday prepper ……

  • +4

    Case Diameter: 46.7㎜

Spaghetti wristed ozbargainers need not apply.

    • +4

From what I've seen, this one does actually work okish on smaller wrists given the short length and how the lugs are configured. If you are considering, it's worth looking up some pictures on smaller wrists.

    • +2

Tunas wear smaller because of their short lugs. Deshrouded, it would look even smaller. Definitely works with my 6.5 inch wrist.

  • +2

    I don’t need this, I don’t need this…

    • +1

That's what I keep on saying to myself. Also probably it won't look good on my wrist 46.7 mm diameter.

  • wish they did one with stainless steel bezel and band …… I don't want to pay $800 for tuna all stainless looks of the 300M quartz watch, but I want that all stainless look as mainly desk diver :-(

    • Easy to mod these.
The Padi version I got for $299 has ss lugs.
The good thing about these they aren't too heavy.

They don't wear big at all btw.

      • SS lugs or you mean shroud?
I think all have SS lugs.

        • Yeah lugs
Nah the normal blue street I had was colour matched.
Not interested in a bling shroud

        • plastic shroud is what i don’t like ….seems aliexpress has stainless ones for $25 ….. the greens are all sold now but next solar tuna deal i will pounce and swap the shroud …….

          • @garage sale: Oh right, I don't mind it but depends on the watch. My Padi version has enough stainless on the bezel and it's a nice mix of materials/finishes. Stainless shroud would make the watch look visually bulkier imo but can look pretty good.

      Here's a couple: https://i.imgur.com/Vztv7Ca.jpg

Both were ~$300, but the middle one has an aftermarket bracelet. One on the left is a no-date mini tuna and cost about $380

      • love the one on the right with black bezel and stainless bracelet …..

        • That's a very old model, one of the first prospex solar tunas. I think I had to import it from the US 3-4 years ago for close to $500 because we didn't have them here yet. It was still available locally a year ago for 300ish but I can't remember the model number

        • Just checked my emails. Paid $460 in 2018. Model SNE497P1

Price has jumped for some reason, some sellers are asking for $1k lol

This is the cheapest I can find: https://www.auswatches.com/seiko-prospex-solar-tuna-stainles…

  • I already have over 80 watches with 95% of them being Eco-Drive but this was too good a deal to pass on so I grabbed one. Hopefully Seiko is on par with Eco-Drive for quality.

    A bargain…but shit its ugly

    • +11

It's almost like people have different tastes hey.

      • -3

The band looks like a pair of grandads corduroy pants

        • +4

Swap the band. It's even got drilled lugs.

  • +2

If you think this watch is "too big" for you, you can manually remove the shroud, making it smaller and more comfortable to wear.

  • +1

thanks OP. Purchased as gifts! perfect!

  • +1

I actually really like the look of this, but do I need it

    …yes, yes I do

  • -3

Great price but too dang ugly lol

      • +1

        That's an..interesting..watch

      • +2

      • +1

Pay $1500 dollars for the privilege of having a watch that looks like a $10 Bali/Phuket special.

      • +1

Because you've posted that a few times and I've been dumb enough to click it, it is now permanently stuck on my Amazon opening page and I can tell you, it dropped to $999 a few weeks ago. I almost thought twice about it.. 😅

      • +1

        🐐

  • Can you put a nato strap on this, and where do people generally get good straps from (other than aliexpress)?

    • +1

      Barton from USA

    • +1

+1 for Barton, look at their silicone elite , quick release and all.22mm. Barton has 15% off codes and free shipping (forget min spend). Go to unsubscribe and they send you a 25% off code to stay. Also seen 30% off at random times when browsing.

They even posted a different colour buckle I wanted for free (must have been out of stock unless I clicked wrong one).

Watch gecho too expensive but got stuff from there.

    • +1

      Yes.

      From memory, I've bought from:

      • Holbens Fine Watch Bands
      • Cheapest NATO Strap
      • Crown and Buckle
      • WatchGecko
      • NATO Strap Co
      • eBay, Amazon

I've used threads on watch forums as a starting point when finding new brands or retailers.

    46.1 mm lug-to-lug

  • Missed it by that much , had 1 in cart and by the time I hit checkout they were gone :0

  • Well that was quick…You snooze,you lose.

  • I did not expect this one to sell out. I wonder how many were sold.

    • +3

      well I bought two.

You can have one if I don't like how it fits.

      • Appreciate the offer, thank you. I don't think it would work on my wrist, though.
Hope you are happy with it.

  • Damn, missed out. I wanted a Tuna and actually didn't mind these colours.

    • weekend sale coming up, they have a black tuna with stainless bezel for $294 , not sure if solar …. never know what they will have …..

      • I definitely know what I'm going to need to have.. $$$$!

Also, I just bought my first black bracelet/case watch last night so this weekend will get interesting, care to share that black Tuna you saw?

        • Also, I just bought my first black bracelet/case watch

          Which one?

          • +1

            @rosebank: Glycine GL0434.. 😅

Almost went the open heart, GL0120.

            Thoughts? 😁

            • +1

              @WasBargain: That's dope. Here's my 39mm GL0407.

              • +1

@rosebank: Hey, that's a nice mix of stealth with a touch of oldschool in the hourly markers. Your hands also have a better finish of brass, how do you find the Superluminova? I think this'll be my first aswell with it.

Also, WTF is going in the background..? 🤣

                • +1

                  @WasBargain:

Your hands also have a better finish of brass, how do you find the Superluminova?

Idk because I've worn it once.

My terrorist housemate is in the background. His favourite toy is 'furniture leg'

      • I found the $294 tuna btw, not really a fan, colourway makes it look clunky AF. The $349 "Arnie Edition" has me really tempted but not sure if I want to pay that much for a Tuna.. 😅 I'm really diggin' it though, has LED apparently too. I might have a quick google of it now..

        • +2

Get the Arnie, it's pretty chunky but $349 is a steal. I have 3; the one on sale is too similar to one I have, otherwise insta-cop.

          And ana-digi is the best.

          • +1

@rosebank: Thanks bro, my wallet extra thanks you..

LOL, jokes but the game is on. If it's not sold out by Monday 12am, I'll snap it up.. 😅

  • +1

I've got a similar version that comes with a white shroud and strap instead. Took the shroud off and swapped to a grey strap from another desk/parts tuna and the red accents really stand out. $199 is insanely good for a solar tuna.

  • Missed it unfortunately.

  • Has anyone got a shipping notification yet?

    • +1

I don't think they start shipping Friday orders until Monday.

      • thanks, got a shipping notification this morning

  • +2

Just got these delivered this morning.

Fantastic watch so thank you OP.

For those with smaller wrist, FWIW, mine is around 6.5 inches and it fits surprising well. The lugs are relatively small so they dont overshoot your wrist. It does sit high but its a thick watch but definitelly doesnt look like I'm wearing a CD on my wrist.
