    I don't know why so many lights use 800lm, it's too dim even for a bedroom.

      Your eyes must be getting old like mine. It is the equivalent of an old 60W bulb, which was plenty when I was a kid.

      The reason LED "bulbs" have limited lumens is the heat, rather than the cost of the LED chips inside. Getting too hot ruins them.
