I've been on the 22GB plan since Jan for $19 a month with the CBA discount, and I have zero complaints. 22GB might not be much for some, but with the databank feature I'm now sitting on about 100GB.

    • +2

Been on their lowest tier for work phones, even have 5G on the 4G plans. The data bank is sitting at 100+GB now.

    • What happens if you blow your data for the month? Do you end up with zero or do they drop your speed down to xxMbps until your next month ticks over?

      • +1

I haven't expeienced this myself, but if you use your monthly limit, you then switch over to your databank, and if you the use all of that, you then need to pay for additional data or have no data for the remainder of the month.

        • Thanks for that. I checked my TPG usage and I barely go over 400GB a month but there were 2 months where I hit 550GB, but for the most part I'm only every using 250GB - 300GB per month.

I think this one has no data banking (last line in the ad) so if you don't use it you lose it.

          • @D1977: Can I ask how you're using so much data? Are you hotspotting for home internet?

            • +2

@matictac: My TPG 4G home wireless is a mobile broadband plan so it's my home internet service (I don't use NBN). This is the TPG service I am on - https://www.tpg.com.au/home-wireless-broadband

I use this amount of data from streaming Kayo sports and other online content.

              • +1

@D1977: It actually didn't occur to me that this deal was for home broadband haha, I just assumed it was for a mobile service because that's what mine is. Your usage makes way more sense now haha

        • +2

It is $0.12 per GB or $12 per 100GB
Not bad if you run over some odd month

    • $19 is ok. Is it full telstra 5g coverage?

Been doing aldi $15 plan for years but the service area got cut to telstra wholesaler only last year and service and since then coverage isnt that good

      • It looks like there's only one 5G plan, $42 a month after discount for 120GB date, however the 4G plan above mine ($23 a month after discount) currently has a 5G trial until the end of July. I'm assuming it'd be full coverage, nothing that says otherwise.

    • When you leave them make sure they cancel your account. I migrated away and they kept billing me. Never had that before with other providers. Rang them up and they are hopefully reversing the charge as I migrated 2 days before my billing cycle ticked over. But something to be aware of!

  • Nice one. Very tempted. I have been on the TPG 4G home wireless since Oct 2021 based in Sydney. Was bulletproof up until April 2022 where it took a turn and has been very inconsistent in terms of speed. In the last week I have been getting 4Mbps - 9Mbps max. speeds during weekends and on weekday evenings, but at 5am when I wake up I am back to 20Mbps so clearly TPG have oversubscribed the service. I am 100m away from the Vodafone tower which is what the TPG service uses.

I've just submitted my cancelation enquiry to TPG and was looking to switch back to NBN, but this might be the way to go for me. Anyone got experience using the TPG TP-Link modem for this service?

    • I'm also on TPG 4G and keeps dropping out lately. Can't for the life of me find the cancellation link on their web portal though. They don't make it easy to leave.

      • +1

Mine doesn’t drop out. Just the speed is atrocious. Interestingly, since telling them I will be cancelling I’ve been getting 22Mbps down since Saturday, but I am still leaving them. Too little too late.

Email “[email protected]”. You need to notify them 7 days before your next billing cycle to avoid another month of billing.

        • Thanks mate, very helpful.

          • +1

@RotundPolarBear: You'll need to provide this info too.

            • Account Holder\'s name
            • TPG Username
            • TPG Customer ID number
            • Service Address where the service is installed

Also you may need to return your modem if you have not been with them for 24 months or more. If you don't return it they will charge you $8 per month left in your 24 month period. This is in their T's and C's.

What is the Home Wireless Broadband Modem Non-return fee?
If you cancel your plan within 24 months of connecting or if your order is withdrawn by us, you must return the Home Wireless Broadband Modem in good working condition to us. If you do not return the Home Wireless Broadband Modem within 21 days of your order being withdrawn or cancellation of your service, then you will be charged a modem non-return fee. The non-return fee is calculated as $8 multiplied by months remaining in the first 24 months e.g. if you leave after 18 months you would pay $8 x 6 (the number of remaining months), a total of $48.

  • anyone used their nbn and can comment? Optus is charging me $125 a month for internet and looking to swap…

    • +2

I've been using More NBN since September, no issues so far.

      • which router do you use? i usually get the router from isp and just wondering if it's good

        • +1

I am using Telstra Smart Modem 2 with More NBN, you can grab one off Facebook market for 30-40$ works great, no complaint so far on FTTP

          • @AAN: Or the Huawei B818 which is also great (Optus using this).

    • I use their NBN. Surprisingly, it works better then TPG for me (though TPG was good too). The download sits around 100Mbps, sometimes even more. North Brisbane.

    • +1

I have the 100/20Mbs, $6x after discount, no issue so far. I get the full speed at peak hour, latency is around 50ms. Their mobile service has good coverage, speed is average. Happy to pay $8x for NBN and mobile plan from more after switching from telstra.

    • +1

Can also recommend. Have been using 12mths on the 30% commbank deal 100/20. Set up with free install FTTP, fast and reliable. No issues. I use google mesh router.

    • +1

On there 250mbps plan its working like a dream.

    • I'm currently on this one at the moment on the discounted to $53pm 50mbps plan. No complaints with service so far. Note: FTTP

  • +5

Any recommended BYO 5G WiFi router? The one listed from MORE is so expensive!

  • +1

Signed More NBN last week, received a message saying connected on the 2nd day however BYO modem doesn’t have signal obviously not connected, rang them 3 times said I need to talk to building manager(I’m in an apt), building manager mentioned they need to send people to connect on-site can’t do remotely, get back to More, they advices they won’t send anyone here and it’s a connected line issue with my room, I need to hire someone to fix this myself, never mind, I’ll cancel this straight away as I was not aware that I need to pay extra to connect. More is only good at cancellation, ok then I’ll sign a wireless boardband with TPG. As soon as I signed TPG, I received a message regarding an appointment to connect NBN to my appointment on the second day. What a joke, I’ve asked them more than 3 times to get someone to do connection on-site but they refused, very unprofessional and dumb company I’ve even seen.

    • Did you sign wired or wireless broadband with More?

      • NBN. Ends up I signed wireless with TPG

    • Very similar experience, had horrible first time activation with them. After wasting a week and no internet access I switched to another provider and all issues are resolved.

    • +2

Did you setup the pppoe user and password in your byo router? It’s not just plug in and get a dhcp ip like some other isps.

The actual service is good. Getting there in the first place they obviously don’t have everything setup to run smoothly.

      Worth it for the discount.

What is excess data charged at or is speed throttled

Also a warning that i suspect telstra wholesale network is congested as i get crappy speeds on 5G network. My optus 4G sim get over 300Mbps while Mate 5G (telstra) has never gone over 20Mbps.

I would recommend stick with Felix $35 plan with unlimited shaped speeds @ 20Mbps. Been on it for over 2 years with no issue

    • -3

so you compared an apple with an orange and made an assumption. Great work!

      • Excess data is charged at $0.50 per gigabyte as per https://www.more.com.au/storage/CIS/Personal/CIS-More-Reside…

Same data sheet also says that speed is capped at 250Mbps (4G & 5G)

      • Exactly. Compared unlimited data with fixed data.
Ive been using close to 900GB per month for the last 2 years.

No issues with speed or buffering. 4 Devices connected at same time, most of the time all devices streaming youtube and netflix FHD/ 4k at the same time

        • What's your hardware setup for Felix?

          • +5

@Guybrush57: LTE phone usb tethered with Asus router (ASUSWRT).
Felix cant detect that im using it via a router for home broadband this way.

Tried using an LTE router but was sent an email warning 2 years ago so switched to this setup

            • +2

@easternculture: Nice setup. I would do the same if the Vodafone network was decent where I live. It looks like they are aiming to deploy more towers, frequencies, and 5G so I will keep Felix in mind in future.

    • +1

Mate 5G (telstra) has never gone over 20Mbps

WRT Mates, I am getting 313/32mbps on Mates so can't complain on speed. My main complaint is that forwarding calls and SMS to an overseas number (in their selected countries list) when I was travelling, did not work. And Mates don't have roaming pack.

  • -2

More, I’d rather stay very far away.

    • +1

Have been on their NBN for months now no issues.

  • Looks like they only use the wholesale Tel$tra network which has substantially less coverage than the full Tel$tra network. But still better than other providers.

  • I want more

  • Just signed up to warn new nbn subscribers to NOT sign up with MORE as your first nbn provider. Had horrible first time activation experience with them. If you arleady have one and want to switch then you might be OK, but if MORE is your first time nbn provider, read on and be warned.

TL;DR: Customer service is friendly but if your activation didn't go through for some reason they won't be able to solve it for you and you will waste your time with tech support and no internet.

After nbn installed box outside and inside (new property) all green lights on nbn box, MORE, somehow messed up activating my account with them and I get no internet. After a week and 3+ tech calls and tickets and Escalations they still couldn't figure it out and they say my account is activated and no issue from their end. They tried to blame my modem but I know my way around networks (I work in tech) and everytime I get a tech support call they go over scripted troubleshooting and I try to convince them it's not from modem (connected my laptop to nbn box directly, still, all my internet requests stop at their servers, it's obvious it's from their end but they kept saying everything is OK from their side). I kept trying to tell them to reactivate my account but they insisted that my account has no issues and yet I still don't have internet access.

After a week and no internet access (with 4 green lights on nbn box) and 2 pending Technical tickets they sent an email informing me they will start billing me for internet as everything seem OK from their end. What? I have to start paying without having any internet access? Yeah nah, so cancelled with them and I switched to Extel, online, and my account and internet was up and running within 1 hour, I didn't even have to call them, I just registered online with some info and voila.

So yeah, while MORE customer service were friendly they couldn't solve a simple reactivation issue and I wasted a week and multiple hours with their tech support without any results.

    • +2

Sounds like an nbn f***up. I know people who signed up with more and had fttp installs completed without issue. When i had issues with fttn at my old house Aussie Broadband were hopeless because nbn kept knocking back all their requests. ISPs have very little control or access to the nbn install side of things :|

      • +1

I went from More FTTC to a FTTP install without issues. Been perfect so far

        • Was there any cost for you in order to get this done? Assuming that you have copper from the pit to the house.

          • @rexy_boi: No cost - area was eligible for the NBN FTTP upgrade. Was previously copper from pit to house yes and they ran fibre as well for the new line.

      • +1

Unlikely it's from nbn, as I said before, nbn box shows 4 green lights and it's up to the rsp to activate your account and provide you service, MORE couldn't. My internet requests propegates from my laptop to nbn box to MORE severs fine, but it just stops there. If nbn had issues, I wouldn't have been able to reach MORE servers.

  • +3

If only could I get public ip and port forwarding on this I'd jump straight away. 😔

    • +1

the only valuable comment in this thread
anyone who is tempted better check if you need port forwarding or now for you NAS, surveillance camera etc…

    • Mine hasn't changed in a about 6 months with them(100/250 business plan) do have port forwarding setup too. But also have backup duckdns in case my systems get locked out overnight with some random forced IP change

  • I'm currently on the CommBank discounted 12 months NBN with More. I cannot see anything in the T&C that said I cannot sign up for this and still get the CommBank discount for another 12 months.

    O.P. please confirm.

    • Sign up new account, request new debt card

Churn nbn for one month and come back on new card number

Discount is most likely connected to debt /credit card number

    • Would also be interested in this as I’d like to sign up both NBN at home and a mobile internet plan for work.

    • +1

I’ve had nbn for ages on the original 24 month plus bonus awards points promo. Signed up two mobiles a few months ago 3weeks apart and both have the discount.

Changed over from Telstra direct haven’t noticed a difference other than not having visual voicemail.

    • My 12 month discount ended laat month and they charged me the full amount this month. Would like to know this too, or any other NBN telco that has a similar discount deal.

      • There are a few like Tangerine that offer similar to the discount NBN plans for 6 months. I would prefer not having to switch ISP so often.

        • I don't either, but they make it difficult for the consumers (at least the bargain hunters) to stick with just one ISP due to their 6-months to 12-months deals. I'm thinking of switching to Leaptel, which has a 50Mbps/20Mpbs deal for $59.95 for 12 months now. Launtel is another one, but their daily pricing system is confusing.

Didn't know anything about both ISPs, but saw them recommended in a "Best Home NBN Providers" post made here, and particularly this comment sold me. Will keep digging before I made this switch in the hope that I'll find one that I'll stick with little bit longer this time.

  • Currently with More, on NBN100/20, worse than similar plan of Tangerine, Superloop and Telstra 5G. Upgraded from their NBN50/20, getting next to little improvement on 100. Looking to change soon back to previously tried services.

    • Not sure what you are expecting when you are trying to compare NBN 100/20 with Telstra 5G…..

      • I'm comparing more similar services between more, tangerine and superloop and similar speed plan of Telstra 5G, which is again backed by NBN or even if not, it still specified same speed category, but performs substantially better than more. Hope you got the clue. Or else go ahead and subscribe to More service. Why should I bother about someone committed to not listen and experience it by himself. Good luck.

  • +2

So what happens after your data allocation is used? Throttled or loss of service?

  • So my experience with MORE.

I'm with them on my mobile but similar experience. When I signed over my numbers, it took almost 10 days to transfer my account and number. I was initially told the wrong information about what I needed to give them to transfer my number once it did. Everything worked out fine no issues. Be aware 5G is shaped at 200Mbps but still okay for every use. The staff are friendly enough and the queue on the phone is less than 2 mins.

  • In years gone by I was getting over 400Mb/s on 4G with both Telstra and Optus. Now both 4G and 5G are shaped to way less than that. 15 years ago constant 113Mb/s on HFC. No such thing as slower at peak time, or over subscribed. Progress? Don't think so. If you have good coverage 4G is all you need and save money on both service and modem. The backhaul is more than likely sufficiently provisioned, unlike 5G

  • I have the NBN services for this one and so far it hasn't let me down as of yet.

You'd best to a tower check for 5G prior to see your signal strength before applying. If you have 5g your good to go.

  • +1

Stacked this with CommBank Rewards spend $30 get $30 cashback.. Good experience so far. No problems maxing out the 250mbps with Huawei B818

    • Awesome. I’m ordering mine soon but only have my old TPG TP Link VX420-G2h v1 to use so it’s 4G LTE. Where did you buy you modem from?

      • +1

Got it years ago when I contracted with Optus for home wireless broadband. The software is Optus branded but its not network locked. You might be able to find one cheap on Gumtree etc. Its 4G only also but its internal antennas seem to be pretty decent. Has external antenna capability also.

        • Thanks. I'll give my TPG one a shot first. Pretty sure it's not network locked to Vodafone / TPG and a Factory Reset should get it back to normal and then I can use the More Telecom SIM.

If anyone has tried this and has experience I'd be interested to know.

    • I just signed up online on Friday just gone, I then realised on Saturday that I forgot to activate the offer in my CBA apps More $30 cashback offer.
The offer goes until the 30th June but when calling CBA they said they cant do anything about me activating the offer after signing up.

Logged into my acc on More and wrote them a support ticket asking them to apply the offer as I had forgot to activate it in the CBA app prior asking them to call me or advise if they will or can do this.

Will see what they say tomorrow. Am hoping they can do so and save us all time from duplicating the process should I need to cancel and re apply 🤞

      • Is the offer under the "Rewards" tab on your CommBank App? If so, I can't see it as an offer for me and maybe it has to do with what type of credit card you have with them?

        • +1

          Hi D,

Yes, it was under rewards which I then activated. I use a Debit Mastercard for my payment to More, and the deal is for online signup only. So even if you dont have one and call More, just tell them you are wanting to sign up but cannot see the deal in your CBA app, see what they say or can do, and if they say no cant do it then tell them to hold your beer and just call CBA to say why is this.

Good luck with that mate 👍

          • @zztrader: I've already ordered my 2 x SIMs on Friday and did it online just like you. I did check my Rewards and when I didn't see it there, I proceeded to place the order. I only see Rewards for The Iconic, Rivers, eBay Plus, Glue Store, and DC Shoes so I guess the Rewards are targeted.

            • @D1977: I think you could be right about them being targeted. But if your order was over $30 then its worth doing a follow up and should they not understand that you are not happy then just cancel and redo the order. I had a customer service lady walk through the sign up as I wanted to ask a few questions, so do give them a call and say you know the offer is there but it got accidently dismissed. And why should you have to duplicate the whole process when it should be automatic if your with CBA using your CBA Master or MasterDebit card to pay for the service continually for the year.

But remember if you change payment methods through the year then standard rates apply.

    • Hi @pyr0 are you on 5G wifi?
Also, is the speed maxing out for most parts of the day or only evening? or both mornings & afternoon?

      • +1

I'm directly connected to my router via ethernet. No problem maxing out during off-peak (early morning/late night). 100-150mbps is my lower-bound speed but even during those periods I've had it flex up to 200-250. But honestly it's going to vary from tower to tower, modem and/or antenna placement, etc.

        • Thanks for that info mate. :)

Oh, what location are you approx?

          • @zztrader: Adelaide inner suburbs

            • @pyr0: Thanks mate :)

I see your modem was 4G or enhanced 4G, I had also just bought a 5G inseego Mifi X Pro 5G M3200 modem recently so I guess it doesn't matter with the speeds capped at 250Mbps.

Having Boost for my mobile they are now limiting speeds to 150Mbps, on the gold coast here I used to get night speeds of up to 280 and 300Mpbs at times but data use would have destroyed my 365 day 130GB plan.

I also see there are many providers capping at 150Mps or even 100Mpbs depending on provider so I am hoping that I can get good speeds to use up at least half or near the 400GB/month 🙏

              • @zztrader: I was previously on Optus 4G Home Wireless Broadband. I would have periods (weeks) where the speed was good and could always break 100mbps and then periods where I couldn't come close. They have now put a 25mbps speed cap on that plan if you sign up today (I signed up years ago so was unaffected)

I did a straight swap of the Optus sim for the More/Telstra sim without any tinkering and straight off the bat the performance so far has been head and shoulders above Optus.

                • @pyr0: Excellent, the way sh#t oughta be 👍

Hope I am not plagued with this new Telstra inseego Mifi X Pro 5G modem or having locks. I have heard from a mate who has a friend that has one and reports that they get a bit Hot after many hours of constant use. Wonder if its the 5050 maH battery in it, but just hope the Telstra 5G tower which is 450 metres away can give it the grunt it needs. Although I am also hoping the other buildings might be blocking me and tax my signal. Bloody gold coast buildings everywhere. :P

  • I'm with Telstra Mobile Broadband for the "modest" price of $85/month and soon to be $90/month

I'm a commbank user and looking for this service.

I have a Telstra 5G Wifi Pro, would that be useful with this service?

I haven't had any problems in the Marsden Park Area but $85 to $49/month is significant.

    • I was previously on a telstra $69 plan (discount from jbhifi), I think it's pretty much the same as the $85 one, also using the Telstra 5G Wifi Pro. Just switched to More this month and speeds and connection are pretty much the same (both not great imo)

I keep getting dropouts in connection for both services but it might just be my laptop being weird as wifi on phone seems to be fine, or a generic telstra thing in my area (Sydney NW though)

  • I find with 5G its geolocation dependent.
Currently at a friends place house sitting and I am not getting over 50Mbps in which case I may has well been on a 4G plan, or 4G enhanced.

Will take my 5G inseego Mifi X Pro and see what it does at my other location. If the speeds are also affected by buildings blocking signal or other issues I may as well just find a 100/20 HFC plan and stick with a wired network, as using Flight Sim on lower speeds suck so fingers crossed.

The other issue with More and using a Telstra related modem is it works fine but doesn't show you the Data and Days remaining on the screen and having to login to see how much data is used also sucks. Anyhow, for some its a great score when your geo position for 5G is sound but when its not, then it feels kind pointless. All this was an experiment for me and I will have my answer in the next week but happy to now achieved a $30 cash back from the CBA app in which case I will flip this inseego 5G M3200 modem off as I find the battery rapidly decreases and every time I turn my head to look at the screen its dropped another 1% so I only got between 7 to 8 hours of battery time which sucks from a 5050maH battery.

There are a couple other other issues which I wont go into here atm but I wish all those who seek this 400GB 5G More deal the best of luck or circumstance.

    Cheers!

    • Just an update, went back to the suburb where I live to test the speeds and I got another bar on the signal strength.

Speeds now were between 280Mbps - 315Mbps so I gotta say I am relieved and will stick it out on the plan.

Hoping this can be maintained for the 12 months so will try to leave it powered on most of the time and Turn on battery preservation mode to keep the battery life extended hopefully.

Anyhow, will see how things go. :)
