      7a?

      • -3

        Pixel 7a.

        • Have you seen pricing? Only releasing in a few days

      • +2

        Fuiyoh 7a!

    • +7

      7a =/= 7 Pro?

    • +2

Why not straight go for a Pixel 3? You are comparing apples with pears.

      • -2

Cos you are buying near flagship phone at much cheaper price.

        • Those of us looking at the 7 Pro want a flagship phone, not a near flagship.

    • +1

You can cancel this for $828 plus pro-rata on the plan, while the Pixel 7a is rumoured to be $849 at launch, so no.

      • Let see in 3 days. I think that too high rrp for an "a" series pixel. They could asjust to inflation so you could be right.

        • They're all running with a $50 USD pre-tax bump and they have pushed up the camera specs a smidge.

Even still, the Pixel 7 Pro is better value if you take advantage of the cancellation pricing.

          • @jasswolf: What is this cancellation price you speak of? (genuine question)

            • @Aleigh123: Read the T&Cs posted in the deal, read previous deals.

        • Definitely reckon there'll be a promo/code going around either at launch or within a month. Doubt they're going to meet their sale expectations at $849

          • @pennypincher98: They're not worth it until they're under $650, which might take a while.

      • It 749 for the pixel 7a. I think there will be promo to bring it down to 649 or 699 before July. Add a 99 dollar prepaid it not bad option with extra 1 year of software/ security update plus the freedom to migrate after 1 year.

        • Yeah I saw the pricing solidify over the last couple of days. Lacks the rear cameras and the screen quality of the top model, and for now this is still the better deal subject to the hit to your credit rating.

Personally I'd be waiting for the S23 deals to come around again, or a sub-$800 S23.

          • @jasswolf: Yeah it either that s23 deals or optus dual pixel phones deal with 50% off phone plan for 12 months.

Wouldn't be suprised if optus run a cheap pixel 7/7 pro deal close to pixel 8 release.

  • from memory optus is doing this for about $49 over 2 years

    • +1

      Is this not Optus?

      • It looks like an Optus deal available at Harvey Norman

        $27.06 per month over 24 months = $649.44 total

Obviously, you'll need a plan too though. For me, it's not attractive at all but someone may like it.

        • +1

that 27 per month is handset ONLY. You have to add cheapest plan at 49x24 as well. but do check the max cancellation cost in the T&C

          • @hippo2s: Yea, that is right, which is what I said.

            • @PR0r: sorry I was confused why are you even mentioning this tho…the bargain of this deal to me is the 828 outright. Can't imagine someone staying on for 24months

              • +1

@hippo2s: At the time of posting my comment, and actually, as of right now, there isn't a mention of the OP saying to cancel to get that deal. I didn't realise that was the intention of this deal, and indeed it is an excellent deal and a great way to get a great phone. I received an email from Optus earlier today that I skimmed over and thought I would share. I agree with you completely that it doesn't belong here and is confusing when reading this deal. Perhaps the OP should add the method you speak of to clarify. eg. $69/M for 24 Months doesn't exactly scream a deal… and to be honest, this deal deserves a lot more upvotes than it currently has. It would have to be the cheapest way to get this phone.

$49 Sim plan + phone is slightly cheaper at Optus but it's only 30gb. 100gb plan is cheaper via HN

      • is 30G enough for most people? I barely chew through 10

        • I go through 3GB/month at an absolute maximum. Reguarly do less than 2GB.

          Gigabit NBN at home.
Fast WiFi at work (where I use my phone the most lol).
WiFi at my close one's houses.
I also cache 200GB (512GB phone) of my Spotify library so my phone rarely has to download anything while I'm in transit.

The only time I really use mobile internet is at the shops and on a day/night out.

          • +1

@BradH13: I also don't go out and prefer to stay in my dungeon.

    • Could I do this and then cancel the Sim plan after a month without extra cost?

  • so is the outright 12x69 (plus maybe first month)? 840(+69)? T-C say 828 as max cancellation cost

  • +1

Cheaper per month to buy on flybuy optus deal with the same 24 months duration. https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/caMDY6wDVUxW

    • That's a 20gb plan my man, not 100gb

      • +1

Yes so it’s cheaper if you don’t need 100gb per month. Like those that have good internet and wifi at home and have work wifi

This same deal was out when the pixel 7 pro first came out last year. I would've got this deal last time when the 7 pro just came out. The pixel 8 pro will probably come out in October. Better off waiting 5 months and getting the same deal with the 8 pro

  • And has to be a new service for this deal

    • easily circumvented with a quick port out to your choice of cheap prepaid Lebera, Boost, CatchConnect etc etc and then port back to Optus

      • Telstra requires 30 days before you can port back in. I've never seen how long Optus requires a current Optus customer to port out before they can come back in as a "new" connection for these kinds of deals?

  • +1

    Optus flybuys has the following:
    Google Pixel 7 Pro
    Snow | 128GB
    $27.06per month
Includes a $27.06 monthly device discount.
When you stay on a 24 month SIM plan.
    $35 SIM Plan 20GB
    $35.00per month
    25,000 Flybuys points

    Total
    $62.06 per month
Includes a $27.06 monthly device discount when you stay on an Optus plan.

    • +1

Yeah your plan has 5x less data and you have to remain on it for 24 months because the discount is applied monthly not upfront.

      Not worth the $7 saved.

      • -3

Which is enough for most people
        And it's not mine

        • +2

Or… With the HN plan you could cancel straightaway and go on a cheaper plan.

          And it's not mine

Unbelievably anal but whatever. You shared it on behalf of the partnership between Optus and Flybuys and I referenced that for the sake of being succinct and to avoid confusion.

  • +4

can confirm you can cancel and pay only ~$850 cancelation. instore they told me i have to wait 6 months but this wasn’t true

    • +2

Does that mean you pay 69+850?

    • Confirmed the same by my local.

  • Optus….

  • Should've waited but already took out the $1.50 Pixel 6a deal last week…

    • I got this too.

      • Wow great deal! I was already with Optus and went in store so just took up the phone. Managed to get $10 discount for 12 months though.

Also helps that work pays for my phone bill 😁

  • Anyone know how long this deal will last for? I think the Google IO conf is soon and wondering if I should wait.

    • In the fine print it says 10/05

  • I would wait for EOFY which is just 7-8 weeks away as there will be lot more deals.
