Update: The deal has expired. The price is back to $300.

A lightweight and easy to assemble/disassemble quality tent for 3 people (officially 4). Good for all seasons, well vented, and with aluminium poles. Usually priced around $300 and this is the lowest price ever according to CCC. I paid twice as much and it served us well at a 1 week camping last Christmas. Excellent value at this price and recommended for first timer campers.

Oh man you had me at "usually priced around $300". Bought and never been camping once

    Base Size: 8'6" L x 7'6" W; Center Height: 52"; Total Weight: 8 lbs. 7 oz.; Minimum Weight: 7 lbs. 12 oz.; Packed Size: 23" L x 6" D

That's 3.5-3.8 kg and the base 2.3x2.6m is probably together with the fly on it as from the photos it's not that square when no fly installed. Should be managable for 2 people.

So what makes it special? At that price I might consider, but $300 sounds expensive for what it is.

  • Nice post OP. How did you find the internal space with the side walls and a smaller centre height? I.e. with a raised mattress you lose alot of internal space and end up sleeping with either your head or feet touching the walls.

Looking for something to camp with the Mrs on the motorbike, been looking at "flat" walls to accommodate a cheapo inflatable mattress and not lose that internal space.

    • We use thin mattresses and it is very specious for 3 people and reasonably high for this type of tent. Should accommodate an inflatable mattres as the edges are not angled to much.

  • Probably 3 kids or dwarfs lol. Only comfortable for 2 adults.

    • Two adult and a preteen kid fit fine, IMO.

Would this one be suitable to use in Africa?

    • Temperature-wise, should be fine with a warm sleeping bag (it's not a very warm tent). However, I would feel more comfortable with a ticker tent canvas as that's all I've seen when I camped in Botswana 15 years ago. When I heard all the wildlife at night, even the tick canvas wasn't reassuring, let alone this light tent mash/fabric. 🥴

  • Easy to set up? I'm terrible at setting up tents…

Seems to be the easiest possible.

You may want to look for an pop-up tent like this too. I linked to that one for illustration only, IDK if that one's good.

  • Yes, just two cross poles and the plastic clips that connect to it. Could almost do it all by myself, but it helps to have a helper and at least one person over 170 cm, as the trent is reasonably high. It's not self pitching, though.
The plastic clips are a bit tight a take force to snap to the pole. The other downside is that the floor is very light, so we use an additional tarp, which adds to weight.

Price has gone back up? Showing over $300

Phew, placed an order just in time I guess. Thanks OP!

Sorry guys - the low price didn't last long. I will close it.

I will not say 8 lbs. 7 oz is a lightweight tent. definitely not for over night hiking

    • if it truly holds 4 people it is

      • But it truly does not house 4 people. It takes a look at the thumbnail pic to tell that.

        • I don't trust thumbnails. Nothing against them personally, I just don't trust nails in general. False advertising then by ALPS? Lost a potential customer.

          • @s1Lence: What I meant was that even from the thumbnail you can tell - not to mention checking the proper photos, description and the dimensions.

You can fit 8 people there, if they're tiny and sleep one on another, but yeah - you have the specs, you may be able to figure.

This tent looks alright for 2 people with their gear.

Looks like a pretty crappy tent. I would spend money on something like a naturehike for better quality and similar price.
