  • Watching 4k corn is best thing happened in 20th century

    • Is that corn grown or corn being eaten?

There's definitely a joke in there somewhere.

    • You need an NBN upgrade. It's 8K already.

  • Which box do the homeless tick?

Symmetrical download and upload. Symmetrically 0/0.

    • What the speed of free telstra wifi

      • Tried it endless times, if you ever get in it is hopeless.
I used to get up to 980 Mbps on their 5G near their city exchange.
Since comrade 'banese opened it to every Hoo-doo I strugggle to get half.

1000/50mbps but my work laptop kills the speed down to 100/30mbps under a best case scenario. No idea why - whether i'm connected to VPN or not its the same terrible speed. I suspect they're putting everything internet related on the laptop through their proxy which kills it.

I had 15gb of data from a client I needed to download - I did it on my personal laptop in a fraction of the time, unfortunately when I went to transfer it to my work laptop via usb dongle I discovered that my work's USB ports have been locked down and won't load a usb drive unless its been formatted/provided by IT department.

I really wish they'd realise the inefficiencies they are generating by putting all these limitations on their employees.

    • are you using it over wifi or plugged in by an ethernet cable?

      • Yep. Ruled out wifi as I ended up running an ethernet cable for my son's gaming pc which is in the same room. So while doing that I installed one for myself too. Definitely improved speed on my laptop when plugged in, but didn't do anything for works laptop.

  • 250/25 Tangerine Telecom FTTP $79 pm for 6 months, then will churn to another provider for the sign up specials

  • It will be good when the NBN stops the crazy pricing construct they have backed themselves into to justify FttN and HFC. The most basic fibre plan in NZ is 300/100, next is 1000/500 and symmetric up to 8000/8000. This is domestic internet. In NZ. Says it all about AU doesn’t it.

The poll can be improved by noting the prices that people pay for these speeds. You get what you pay for in most cases, so a better poll will enable people to check if what they are paying is fair game.

  • Currently on 50/20 our line is capped at 75 (yay fttn…..) not worth paying for 100/20 but only getting an extra 20 or so Mbps.

  • You should be getting 600Mbps download on your plan, are you mad about that?

  • Launtel at the moment, 400/50
