      priceless.

    • PoE

      • About to edit. +

        • to be fair, not everyone would be using PoE, so an adapter would be required

          • @askbargain: Get a cheap 4 port PoE Switch, best thing about the PoE is that you don't need to rely on power point location to install these.
in ceiling or on a wall in open space up high is best place for wifi reach. PoE gives you flexibility in placing these around the house

            • @AAN:

              PoE gives you flexibility

That's true if you want to and can install ethernet cables to each device…

  • I have a M5 pack at home and want to buy one more to have a getter range to reach my bedroom. What's the best way to just get one more unit?

    • split it with someone

    • You might get lucky on FB or Gumtree

    • Purchase a Deco 1-pack.

    • Hi @superbaby,
I managed to get M5 3 pack for $110 from Bunnings, Northmead a month ago. You can check with your local Bunnings store to see if the item is still on clearance.

Please check this link: Deco M5 Pack.

      • Thanks mate. Grab one from Bunnings today! Great price!

  • FYI last time I got something from Amazon UK I had to go buy some UK to AUS power adaptors. Just meant I had to wait another few days to find out Google Nest had bad coverage in my house.

UK unit… Meaning it's wifi is underpowered

    • Could you please elaborate? I googled it but there's not much info about UK wifi standard… compare to AU

      • +1

Legally they are not allowed the same transmission power as Australia. Less power means less range. That's what I understand from Ozb anyway.

    • +1

      That's why it's cheaper!

    • only if the power adapter is used for powering the router. If PoE, it is the same… power should be at least 18W through compatible PoE switch (IEEE 802.3at compliant).
I think these models are targeted towards new builds or major renovations where running an ethernet cable is easier.

  • If I remember correctly the good guys commercial have these for $440 and it is for the AU market

    • Can anyone buy from goodguys commercial? I don't think so.

      • As in it's not available there?

    • You're correct, it's currently $440 + $8 delivery (online only)
