What an awesome line up. If anyone hasnt played Rift Apart, definitely highly recommended.

    • +9

Pour one out for those who had a PS3 Slim and remember:

how PSN was free, PS+ gave really good games, console was very affordable, came with new exciting games, it had Bluetooth for standard/non-proprietary accessories, and could even be flashed to run a desktop Linux Distro. Truly a consumer friendly era.

  • +4

I have Rift Apart on disc. My PS+ just expired, might have to get another month for it in case I stick with it in the future, save me putting the disc in. Can't remember a game as good as Rift Apart being a PS+ monthly game in a long time..

    • +3

I bought about 4 years of ps+ in that sale they had a while ago. Don't have to worry about that for a while.

      • +2

plus extra is the next tier up from ps+ which is now called ps+ essential. (ps+ essential, ps+ extra, ps+ deluxe)

    • +5

This is for PS Plus Extra not Essential just FYI in case you were confused

      • +1

oh well I won't bother then. I don't think I want to pay for 10 years of PS+ Extra just in case I want to play Rift Apart some time over the next 10 years, those prices are crazy

        • Just so you know, there is a maximum upgrade price which caps the upgrade price to around ~$180 for the top tier, and less for the medium tier - so if you have prepaid 10 years into the future the upgrade is ~<$18 per year on average. Login to see the price.

    • +1

As people are saying this is for the 'extra' tier game catalogue and the games rotate out for there so it won't be there forever (most likely). Sadly it isn't like the monthly games that once you claim in the month they are yours to play as long as you have a sub.

Also I have the platinum for Rift Apart and highly rate. Fantastic game.

  • +11

Thats a good line up, i just got my ps5 last week so excited!

  • +2

In pleased Humanity is hitting the service, it's a no brainier really. Not interested or got the rest elsewhere unfortunately. Rift Apart is fantastic.

  • -8

Too bad I’ll be busy playing Zelda

    • -2

      Redfall here.

      • +1

        Redfall

Saw it's getting really bad reviews. Very unfinished and a buggy mess.

  • +3

amazing line up. the tomb raiders are really great if you haven't played them. i think shadow has been updated to 60fps for ps5 too?

    • yeah i installed it the other day, runs smoothly on PS5

      • Anyone know if this version of Shadow now the one with the DLC etc like the other two Tomb Raiders?

  • +1

    Wohoo, Rift apart!!

Has been holding from buying this one since I upgraded to PS5.

    • Has been holding from buying this one since I upgraded to PS5.

Would have gotten on marketplace imo.. which is what I did. Bought and sold at same price :D

  • +2

Lols good stuff. All this time not buying legion because it had mixed reviews and it's coming in hot for free!

Rift apart is a great game if anyone is interested.

  • -3

i hope watch dogs legion was on game pass

  • Do you guys finish a game and then buy a new game or just keep getting new and new and there are some that you never played ?

  • +1

One of the best months so far, so long as there’s at least 3 games that seem interesting I’m getting my moneys worth. Realistically only beat one game per month anyway

  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart | PS5 … this can't be played on PS4 ?

    • +1

      PS5 exclusive I'm afraid.

      • 😢

      • -5

The devs claimed it wouldn't have been possible on the PS4, but they were slammed by other industry developers who said it's BS and the game doesn't use the super fast SSD on the PS5 in a way that couldn't also be done on the slow PS4 HDD.

  • My understanding is that this line up will stay for a while (can be rotated out of lineup though), not like regular monthly games, which are there just for only 1 month.

    Could someone please confirm?

    • +1

      Yup that’s correct.

  • +1

Excited about Rift Apart! So many good games and not enough time to play

I'm hit with a wave of nostalgia. I played the heck out these on PSP.
I wonder how terrible it holds up.

  • When do these games become available?

    • +1

      Tuesday 16th May

  • +1

Probably one of the best PS+ monthly freebies ever.

Have been keeping my eye on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, very happy I held off as I knew it would be on PS+ eventually. ^_^

    • +1

Keep in mind that if you are on the lowest tier of ps plus then you won’t have access to these, they aren’t monthly games you can add to your purchase history, they are games you can install and play while they are in PlayStations version of gamepass. They might be there for 3 months, 6 months, a year, but it seems like eventually they rotate certain games out to keep the list fresh (probably based on their analytics of games that have dropped of in install-base)

So to sum it up if you don’t have ps plus extra (medium tier) or ps plus deluxe (high tier) then these gamepass titles are not playable for you. If you are still riding your old subscription that you bought years of before they created the tiers, then you have ps plus essential (lowest tier).

      • Do you know what happens if you download the game and then it rotates out, is it still usable or does it expire regardless?

        • I believe that once it rotates out of the collection then the copy you have downloaded is no longer playable.

But the games are in the collection for enough months that an average player should be able to finish at least 2 or 3 of that players most anticipated titles before they are gone, the math on which still seems to work out for the price you are paying along with how soon after release the games are being added to the collection.

And no at the end of the day you don't “own” any of these games you are effectively “renting” and have put so many hours into but the consolation is that the save data is yours so if you ever do own the game via super discounted purchase or having it eventually come to ps plus essential monthly games, then nothing was really lost.

But getting to play some of these big exclusives from start to finish so soon after launch for some at that price? It’s pretty hard to beat if you are a digital only homie like me lol

  • +1

    what about we Essential peasants?

  • I'm relatively new with this PS Plus, what happen if you cancel the membership? Will you keep the games? Thanks

    • +1

With the ones on PS+ Essential once you've added them to your account you can cancel and come back later and play them.
With PS+ Extra and Deluxe/Premium however they can only be played whilst they are on offer/in the current collection. So for example if they decide to remove Ratchet and Clank in a July, just because you've added it this month, won't mean you'll be able to play it again after July.

      • Oh wow, thanks.

Interesting that you play extra yet you won't get a better experience…

        • You are essentially paying extra to play a higher quality collection of games right now while they are in this gamepass like service, rather than having to wait for however many months or years for the games to eventually trickle down to the monthly games you keep in your purchase history. So I’m a way it’s kind of like paying extra to rent much more recent blockbusters? Might still be worth the price for a month before dropping back down if you see a couple of games worth way more than the asking price that you are sure you can finish before the month is out, as long as you only care about playing and finishing the game as opposed to owning it

  • If you haven't bought the ps plus yet, you can create a new account and buy it via turkey which is about $36 aud per year for Ps plus deluxe. I posted a deal here last year so search it up.

    • +1

Do the games have to be downloaded and installed from the Turkish account on ps5? Or is it enough for the account to be signed in with that ps5 as default for all accounts on the ps5 regardless of status to be able to peruse and install collection games and trials? Also I assume that either way once the games are on the console that it’s still old school rules that any other account on the console can still play the collection games because the turkish deluxer is still tied to the console

      • +1

The games can only be installed from the account that has the active subscription (but it is easy to switch accounts on PS5 anyway). For up to PS Plus Extra games, all other accounts can play. For PS Plus Deluxe time limited trial (i.e. God of War Ragnarök), only the account that as PS Plus Deluxe can try the game.

        The catches are:

        • You will be installing Turkish version of the games. It's fine if you always finish a PS Plus games so you have zero intention to ever buy the Australia version of those games.
        • Save games may not work between an AU version and a non-AU version of the same title. I know, it sounds silly, but Sony's versioning setup is annoying.
        • Subtitle selection and voice language selection may be slightly different for some games.
        • Cloud save is only available on the account with active subscription.
      • +1

Do the games have to be downloaded and installed from the Turkish account on ps5?

Start downloading from the account you used to buy/add them (Turkish). When downloading started you can instantly switch to your main account, finish downloading there and play from any account on your PS5 (Turkish or Australian or whatever else)

    • I really wanted to do this but they were too many hoops around it for me personally.

    • I thought Sony started cracking down on that but at $36, awesome deal.

    • Thank you for that. I have stacked 5 years and should have probably gotten more!

  • What time is it active?

    • Someone had updated the post with 9pm AEST but they're up now

  • Humanity has come out with some surprisingly good reviews. Might be one worth checking out.

  • +1

    Not working yet

    • +1

      They are up now

  • Man i’m waiting for a sale on ps memberships, but i really want to check out Humanity

  • Thought this was for Essential…

  • Imagine just buying ratchet and clank instead of ps+

    • +1

Mates buy games, play quickly, trade in, rinse and repeat. They don't seem very interested in PS+ Extra or Deluxe. However, they play a lot of latest games.

      • Never trade always keep
