Good deal, paid $200 more a month ago and only got redfall :(

    • +30

      My condolences for redfall

      • +5

lol… he took one for the team

      • +19

It was free and I still want a refund.

    • The keys for geforce promos always end up on the secondary market, so there's that. You'll still need a 4000 series to redeem it in Geforce Experience however.

I will note that Activision have normalised region pricing across the board so that D4 now costs like half the median monthly income in some markets. You know, because greed.

      • There will be discounts and promotions in those markets. No potential sale will be left on the table but they will be making much more - especially from the most loyal of fans

  • This one or MSI SUPRIM X CLASSIC ?

    • +1

This has 2x HDMI 2.1 (all others besides strix has 1). More instances of people having coil whine though - non-existant with mine so maybe theyve resolved/minimised it.

Probably cant go wrong with either.

      • Thanks.
I think the two card all too noisy, so quickly price down.

      • Mine from around launch is completely silent, so it may just be luck of the draw.

    • The classic uses older cooling, based on 30 series.

I'm not sure of the overall impact that this has however.

      • Classic one don't have vapor chamber .
        So temperature more higher?

    • I like the cooler on the Suprim back in the 3090 days.

      • +1

        Cooler, but more hot?

        • Maybe, cooler, but it does look hot!

  • +6

Will this plus a i9 13900K be suitable for Minecraft? it's for my son.

    • And the PC system requirements for Minecraft are as follows:

Operating System – 64-bit Windows 10 version 14393.0 or higher & Xbox One.
      CPU – Intel i7-6500U / AMD A8-6600K or better.
GPU – NVIDIA GeForce 940M / AMD Radeon HD 8570D.
HDD – 4 GB (SSD recommended) available space.
      Memory – 8 GB RAM.

Seems like i9 is little overkill - unless I am missing anything new about Minecraft. In that case I apologize in advance.

      • +1

Minecraft can be the most resource intensive game ever if you just keep nudging up the view distance. I have a 12400, 3090, 64gb of ram, and run it from a 980 Pro gen 4 nvme, wouldn't bother with higher than ~20 chunk view distance.

      • He is mucking about, if Google was selling their servers someone will ask if it can play minecraft :-) I think so anyway.

        • +2

          heh gottem ;)

    • +9

Might need a second for SLI

      • I don't think it supports SLI, 3090ti was the last consumer card with SLI (using a different name) supported.

But depending on your usage, you may still utilise multiple GPUs even without SLI.

    • Don't forget 128GB of system memory & pcie-4/5 2TB storage.

      • Get double drives and run RAID0, then chuck in a 400G fibre transceiver. Can't have a slow link to your NBN magicbox!

    • +10

      Can you adopt me :)

    • your son will play with the box it ships in.

    • +2

      I'd recommend a

      CPU - Intel i9-13900K / AMD 7950X3D
      GPU - Nvidia RTX 4090 / AMD 7900XTX
      RAM - 64GB Ram
      Storage - 2TB pcie 4.0 M.2 SSD

      Minecraft can be quite intensive

    • +2

No, you will end up being limited when trying to run Minecraft. I recommend something with more performance for your son.

    • +1

It should run minecraft RTX mode fine but thats a mild pain to get working

    • +1

Should be OK if you use lower the graphical settings and screen resolution.

    • +1

      Get the 5995WX

  • +2

There is a price cut in EU which would likely to arrive here as well.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/773286

    • You mean to tell me this ain’t it? I have a feeling this is the price cut lol.

      • Cannot comment on this particular brand and model but I have been seeing 4090 around $2695 - $2795. This price is not new to me (with ignoring the brand and model)

I want to buy 4090 but I believe it should be around $2k (maybe even around $1500 like it was old days). High price of 4090 is AMD's fault as they have decided not to compete 4090. I don't think we will see big price cuts without competition. Only possible one is 4090 Ti which is still unknown territory.

I have built my i9-13900K system (without the adoption mentioned above :) ). The only missing part is the graphics card. I don't know how long more I should wait.

        • +1

2.5k would be really sweet for a OC model or even for AIO 4090 maybe.. still tempted however at this price.

  • +1

just a quick fyi, asus has a lot of coil whine this generation multiple videos on youtube and posts on the internet (both tuf and strix)
its more noticeable because of those big ass heat sinks = quiet/low rpm fans

my pny has zero coil whine which is a total shocker as it was the cheapest around
have a sus before pulling the trigger

    • Kinda sucks as always had nothing but great history and experience with Asus gear vs many others..sigh

    • I purchased this recently and I am happy to report no coil whine on my TUF.

  • +1

The incentives are kinda dropping off. My last card was like $400 and came with an $80 game, or 20% the value of the card. This deal to get Diablo 4, works out to be <4% the value of the card…

    • +2

I have a feeling Diablo is not the deal breaker for the people buying this card.

      • +1

If you think back 5-10 years ago and told people you were upgrading your GPU to play Diablo 2 or Diablo 3, they would have laughed! In today's world, Diablo 4 brought my 3080 to its knees. :(

  • wow thats a lot of money. Imagine being able to afford this in this economy :')

    • +3

Wait till you get really expensive hobbies :)

      • +4

My hobby of gambling isn't doing me many favours

        • +3

Statistically that means your are bound to win your next gamble.

          • +2

@Heaps for Cheaps: It actually does not mean statistically in most cases, but many feel this way and continue to gamble.

      • Yeah, you should see how much I spend on my RC car. The $70K I paid for the Model Y burnt a hole in my wallet.

  • +1

    Can confirm what others have said about coil whine, I bought this exact card on another sale. However;

You can undervolt it to reduce it by over 50% i run mine at 0.95v @ 2730mhz. It's also worth noting that my coil whine has reduced by itself over the last 2 months. Either way its not noticeable at all even with headphones off providing you have a glass side panel case.

    • Am really tempted to grab one 2080T9 starting to struggle on G9. And although have 2x d4 ultimate pre purchased (Wife and I) - it still works as can gift included to a friend, but sheesh I hate coil whine …

      • I also run at g9, updated from a 1080ti to this, was blown away with the difference. D4 was a big reason i upgraded as that game was eating up vram and i didnt want to sacrifice the textures

    • so worth paying $3k for a card that need under volting or has coil whine- NOT

  • this or a 2400 W heater for winter?

    • +10

Can you game on a heater?

    • It was cheaper to get a 3080 FHR, run nicehash non-stop to warm my study in winter, and I got some BTC from it.

  • -1

    No sir.

  • +1

    348 mm length

    • +10

      Show off.

    • +2

      Happy wife… happy life!

  • +1

If anyone buys this and doesn't want the Diablo game, I would be willing to buy it from you (just sucks that I brought a card 2 days before Redfall promotion was on and gigabyte didn't approve it)

  • +11

Please don't buy this product at this price. Hold off and it will come down further. I too want a 4090 (mayb 2) but am simply not willing to contribute to supporting the market at this price.

In numbers we can make a difference so others can benefit. Prices are already coming down let's keep the pressure on. Even better lets ratchet it up!

    • no worries bro, don't need it anyway, game on UW and get over 100 fps as is
if you have last gen card I suggest new CPU this time around, then get new card next gen

    • +1

Wait until what price. Theres a good chance its not dropping to $2000 anytime soon

      • -2

It will if enough people hold off. The market is driven by demand at a certain price. Limit - or better yet reduce - that demand and the price can only go one way.

        • -1

Ha someone negged me for that! Will he/or she with the negative IQ please step forward. I don't mind being negged but not by one who doesn't get simple logic

  • +8

Nvidia are one of the scummiest greediest companies going around at the moment.

In an unrelated topic, do not buy a lounge from Nick Scali, also one of the biggest crooks going around. Spread the word!

    • What happened with Nick Scali?

      • +1

Bought a $4000 lounge, did not come like the showroom, the electric headrests don't line up with each other when put in the same position and they are not made the same, don't provide the same padding support and don't come forward as much as the showroom model. Completely uncomfortable. Complained to Nick Scali, they sent technician out, nothing technician can do. Told by Customer Service they will not do anything and if you want them to line up, just adjust each into different position to get them to line up. Ask for escalation to manager, denied, asked for contact email for complaint, denied. In process of going to consumer affairs. Researched this type of situation online, realised I'm not alone. Read some guy went into showroom asking for refund and they called security on them because of other customers in showroom hearing bad stories about them.

        • Just go to VCAT or a *CAT in your state. If you have time to build a case and follow all the appropriate requirements for a case then you can get recourse. I think that there is a fee.

          • @vinni9284: Yes, if you read my response, that is exactly what I said 'in the process of going to consumer affairs'.

    • Greedy company, that's weird

      • +1

Well it seems obviously that he paid top dollar for overpriced furniture and didn't get good value for money/customer service/recourse.

        • +1

          Yep. That's exactly what happened.

    • you talk like the other two arent also notorious, keep in mind we are talking about wealthy self-interested corporations where theres only one thing they care about more, profit.
i will shit on nick scali, leather couch that disintegrated

    • I only shop at Franco Cozzo anyway

  • +2

Hmmm.. it's a hard one! A ~$3K GPU for gaming or a used $200 XBX with a 1TB SSD that can play FH5 in 4K? I'm sooo tempted!!

    • +4

We're at a point in the cycle when new consoles are outperforming PCs. Every time this happens people will say PC gaming is dead etc etc. Then console hardware becomes outdated and the value proposition swings towards PCs again, then rinse repeat.

Also Series X targets 30 FPS on 4K on quality mode (60 FPS on performance mode) whereas 4090 gets 100+ so not quite the same experience

      • I have a PC with an RTX3080, X Box 1 & Series X running all on 4K projector. FA difference!! Well not a $3K worth of difference!

        • +1

I'll take the PC off your hands then haha 🤣

          • +2

@legendairyy: Just wait and you'll see all the GPU's drop like flies. Then take your pic. Plenty of puppets splurging their cash on overpriced sh#t!

    • The mid-range GPUs all can play FH5 at 4K using the same quality settings that the XBX uses.

      • Yeah but does it cost $200 (what I paid for + SSD) inclusive of a full PC … or half of a late GPU? You need like a GTX1080 to run half-decent FPS. That's already a $200 card second hand … then you need the rest of the PC

        • Last 2 1080ti's I gave away :).

Other thing for many as well, is they use a PC for more than just gaming ).

          • @Sal in SA: I have another PC with a $100 RX 580 8GB that solely can power 5 monitors. Can a $3K RTX$40900000000000000000 do the same?

            • @vinni9284: Don't need that many for gaming rig - just a G9 and a LG 34", but for Wifes WFH setup just used a Quadro P2200 and 4x 30" monitors - (3 across 1 above), but again workloads vary different between setups.

              • @Sal in SA: You haven't answered my question :-)

                • @vinni9284: Interface

                  Yes x 2 (Native HDMI 2.1a)

                  Yes x 3 (Native DisplayPort 1.4a)

                  HDCP Support Yes (2.3)

Assume they can all run at same time, then sure.
Again though, not of any importance for intended application.

                  • @Sal in SA: Won't power 5 monitors regardless of the interface. Max 4

                    • @vinni9284: figured, generally 1 is a shared interface, again though matters not for intended use.

Just trying to workout how to even fit 5 monitors in area when 1 is a G9.

                      • @Sal in SA: I guess it depends on your hardware. I'm powering 4 x 27' + 48' TV mixed resolutions 3 x 1080p + 1 x 1440p + 4K. Works well but can be a little buggy (that's AMD driver's for you) definitely don't use it for gaming as the GPU is a dinosaur. Good for screen real estate browsing etc

                        • @vinni9284: Yeah well AMD have been like that for decades now :P, all part of the 'charm' of em.
Sounds like a nice amount of space for editing (video or music) or streaming I expect.

        • If you don't currently have a PC, then fair enough. But if you do have a PC, even an old Sandy Bridge one from 13 years ago, it will run fine, since that mid-range GPU would be paired to a 1080p monitor anyway.

          • @Sleepycat3: Still won't cost $200 for it. I'm comparing it to a 4K monitor as my $200 XB1X can. Re gaming

  • Rise Against Evil - Stop paying organ prices for cards.

    • What price should it be ?

      • about three fiddy

    • +1

with my organs any gpu is organ price, means nothing to me, $1500 for 7900xtx is also multi-organ price to me

  • So this graphics card still costs an arm and a leg to get one?

  • I want to run Stable Diffusion locally. If it costs almost $3K just for the Graphics card, how much will it cost for the rest device?
