    Any deals on Denon receivers?

    • This company doesn't sell Denon.

      • Yeah, just found out myself :-( Might consider the RZ-50 then if no deals for Denon show up for EOFY…

        • I would like the RZ50 or the 7100 myself, but my room is too small to have rear Atmos, so I am sort of stuck with the 5.1.2 that I have.

  • ayo receiver prices are absolutely cooked!

  • Hey does code WELCOME10RIO still work for 10% off? I’m was able to get the 7100 for $1,484.10 with it the last sale in January

    • No dice…

    • Unfortunately this promo has finished, but give us a call on (03) 94169943 and we'll see what we can do for you :)

The 6100 is $1299 at Digital Cinema.

It was also that price at Video Pro and West Coast Hi-Fi earlier today but they have put their prices up. There are some weird price matching shenanigans going on…

    Good price for the RZ50.

    • The difference between the NR7100 and RZ50 is basically the extra RCA preouts right?

      • From memory, yes, the RZ50 is capable of 11.2 with amplification for the rear channels. NR7100 can only do 9.2.

        • Correct me if I'm wrong:
RZ50 is only capable of 9.1 amplification, 11.1 processing.

So if you want those extra channels you will need an external amp.

2 sub outs, but they aren't independent.

          • @Morien:

            Correct me if I'm wrong:

You are right. I meant to write "… with [external] amplification for the rear channels."

2 sub outs, but they aren't independent.

            Correct.

    • Could be Onkyo are discounting their amps and RIO, West Coast Hi-Fi etc are passing on the discounts. But I do prefer your shenanigans theory.

      • Video Pro went from $1525 => $1299 (4/05/2023) => $1424 (now).
        West Coast Hi-Fi went from $1299 => $1424 (today) => $1399 (now).

    • It's still that price at WCHF
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/774038

Videopro aren't showing any Onkyo at all right now.

      • It has gone up at West Coast Hi-Fi. They were $1299!

The category listing seems to not work at the moment at Video Pro but the direct link works for me. - $1424.

        • Ah, ok. Hmm. That sucks…

      Consider it price matched! :)

What has the reliability of the RZ50 been like?

    • I'm also interested in the realiability of the RZ50 and NR7100… Any issues?

      • Both units have been extremely reliable. We've sold hundreds of both units and the only feedback we've had is that they're both incredible receivers! :)

          @FunkyDan

Both units have been extremely reliable. We've sold hundreds of both units and the only feedback we've had is that they're both incredible receivers! :)

That is an outright lie and I can prove it from a string of Rio's emails.

My TX-NR7100 Amp arrived Dead and spend its first day at the service agent requiring 3 hard resets, to get sound. Rio told me to take it apart and check internal connections!

On May 17th after my second trip to the repair agent, I emailed.

          Hi (name removed),
Thanks for getting back to me !
The whole Amp is dead. 😔
I'll take it in for warranty work.
          ……
          Sincerely
          David

          I got no reply.

My TX-NR7100 is a pile of crap and It has now been at the service agents for 5 weeks with no return date predicted. A dead HDMI board.
Río pushes Onkyo as reliable but it isn't.

100% of my Onkyo purchases from Río have been epic failures.

Even getting ahead of the issue long known fact that Onkyo units cook their HDMI boards and running 2 x independently powered 90cm Noctua fans to suck out the hot air. It still died after 3 months.

          Río hasn't helped.

The importer is a shambles. Parts, Warranty paperwork, endless dramas.

          So… please don't falsely claim that…

Both units have been extremely reliable. We've sold hundreds of both units and the only feedback we've had is that they're both incredible receivers! :)

          That is an outright lie.

I can prove it from a long string of Rio's emails.

Be honest. Tell potential buyers the truth.

It's time RIO talked to Premium Audio and replaced my dead TX-NR7100 with an RZ50 or gave me the net > net cost on an 830.

An option, is me lodging a formal complaint with the ACCC for making misleading claims on the product/brand reliability.

RIO is knowingly mislead consumers and that is a breach of consumer laws.

I'd be happy to quote the specifiv laws RIO has breeched, as I've just printed them out.

The TX-NR7100 is an unreliable pile of crap and RIO knows it.

          • @Silvo: Hi David,

Please send me a DM so I can get some more information off you to help you resolve your issue.

As far as I am aware we haven't had any of these units come back to RIO with faults, hence why we have found them to be reliable products.

I apologise if you haven't received the service you were after. I am surprised that someone here would ask you to pull the amp apart as we never advise to do this. We always recommend to go straight to a service agent. If you are in WA, the protocol would be to take it to your local service agent as we are in VIC, and I suspect that parts required are not available and they are waiting on the parts to arrive to get this fixed for you.

As I mentioned above, please message me and we will try to help you out with this issue.

    • RZ50 has been super reliable! We thankfully have sold quite a few units and so far everyone seems to be happy with them. We also have a few on demonstration in our showroom and they've been working extremely well :)

      • Generally it is reliable, though not immune from the notorious Onkyo HDMI board failures that go back 10 years.
Unfortunately, I purchased a TX-NR7100, which was Dead on arrival. The service agent revived it, however it has been back at the #onkyo service agent since May 13th with no sign of a return.
That is 25% of the time I've owned it, I've not had the amp I paid for.

That is why I emailed, requesting a swap to the RZ50.

Unfortunately I was fobbed off and fed irellivent info by a staff member. Citing ACCC legislation I asked for an RZ-50, however, I was originally offered either a repair or a refund, then after explaining that the ACCC would become involved, I was offered a new replacement, but the clincher, was a staff menber suggesting I sell the replacement and buy an RZ50…

I laughed so hard and my solicitor smiled a very wry smile.

        So back to the facts…
ONKYO has a 10 year history of failed HDMI boards.

You stated that they are (paraphrasing) totally reliable and I notified your company, in writing, of the total failure of my TX-NR7100 on the 13th of May. Well, my amp is still at the repair agent.
Warranty responsibility fall to the retailer.
Getting nowhere, I reached out to the Australian agent. 4 times. Sorry, 6 times.

I was promised a call by today, but alas that didn't happen.

As the product manager is a nice guy, I'll cut him some slack and hope that on Monday, he squeezes in the promised call.

Further, I'd really hope that a RZ50 is sent because I am legally able to invoke the ACCC's right to compensation and as you stated…
        "RZ50 has been super reliable!"

Unlike my TX-NR7100 which failed due to a 10 year history of failed HDMI boards.

So, 6 weeks without an Amp, promised parts were not sent and until I posted my Onkyo dramas, no help from Río. Then a suggestion of selling the
        TX-NR7100 and buying a "super reliable!" RZ-50.

Gosh Rio, I've worked in both wholesale and retail consumer electronics, so had you cared, a phone call, to the Australian agent, would have had a "super reliable!" RZ-50 sent, to compensate me for the crap I've been through.

Sadly, someone doesn't see the legitimacy of my claim and my dissatisfaction is very publicly aired.

        Gosh Río.
Yes the RZ-50 is "super reliable!".

Alas you made a false claim of both the TX-NR7100 and the RZ-50 being reliable, despite a chain of emails to the contrary, disproving your original claim.

Lastly the unnamed rep, did instruct me to open the unit and check the connection between the main board and the HDMI daughter board. Saying that this was the likely cause of the unit arriving Dead.

Fortunately I was able to confirm they were connected, using a torch.

So, do I need to go ACCC or will either Retailer or wholesaler do the right thing?
        Ball is in your court.

I urge you to liaise with the Australian Agent and appease me… I'm on Tera firma and both retailer and importer are not.

        Cheers!

Excellent price for a Dirac Live enabled receiver. Best room correction tech on the market. I'd buy one if my 2020 Denon crapped out.

  • Hi, I'm on the hunt for a one-box solution for high-quality STEREO music streaming, and it looks like NR7100 would be a great thing to replace my PM6006 (sounds cool but tired of clunky digital casting dongles). I'm just a bit concerned that some people mention in the reviews the fan kicks-in, and I definitely don't want any spinning fans, even quietest, in my setup. My old Onkyo receiver had a fan but it never ever spinned (well, just once when I used a hairdryer to test whether it's operational at all :D ). Would anybody comment on whether it spins and when and why it happens? Thanks!
