Anything on 8 cameras plz ??

  • Hoping to see some wireless Argus deals again 🤞

Is this a good model to get? or should i get the Reolink RLK8-811B4-A or the Tapo C320WS V2? or something else? (these 3 are within budget but if there is something else worth getting that is more expensive, i would consider it as i think you get what you pay for)

I just bought a new house, and still deciding which one i should get for outdoors. I already have 2 x Tapo C210 for indoors (which i haven't opened yet) so kind of want Tapo again so i can use one app for everything. But the video door bell is not released yet.
    .

    • Isn't the tapo wifi only?

      • i'm still quite new to this but the website has "Wired or Wireless Networking-Connect your camera to the network through Ethernet or WiFi for more flexible installation."

I have this kit and very happy so far. The app streams well and quality is good for the price

      • I'm thinking of getting this one but im worried about the Night view. Any reviews? I know this comes with the D800 cameras but I can't see much pictures or videos at night in youtube.

        • +1

i've been quite impressed with the nightview, at least for things that are relatively close (ie within 15m). have been very happy with this purchase in the 1yr I've had them.

Pretty much any cheaper camera will struggle in true darkness, anything moving decently quick will struggle with detail and be pretty smeary. But they're decent enough for my use case.
I can't remember if these are RLC520 or RLC520A but same style and should give you an idea what they're like at night.

Mount them correctly so the exposure isn't blown out like one of these and they're decent enough.

No lights are on in these two photos, just the IR from the other camera.

          • @Umcookies: what model is the cameras
            and resolution + fps ?

can you post some videos day and night?

            • @pinkybrain: These have been up for around 2 years, they are either RLC520 or RLC520A. They're 2k (2560*1920) and can record at 30fps at that resolution.
I've got them recording at 15fps though so don't have any footage to share at that frame rate.
With 6 camera's in total, 2 of which are 4k. I've got them recording to a 12tb HDD which lasts about 1.5 months of archived footage.

I'm grabbing the footage off the camera's and will update the album I linked above with a day and night video.

              • @Umcookies: do you recommended 4k or 2K cameras?

Is the downside of 4k only does 15fps or anything else?
and results in smear/ghosting when there is movement?

would love to see a 4K vs 2K pic and video clips day/night to see if it is worth going 4k or 2K

the 2K looks looks pretty sharp in your pics..
but why is the pic in 4:3?

                • @pinkybrain: Footage is up now, was having issues with my computer and the program crashing. Google might take awhile to process the video into a 1080p copy.

The largest resolution supported by the camera happens to be 4:3, no other reason.

In terms of 4k vs 2k, really just depends what you're trying to do with it. Covering a large area where you might need to capture details as far away as possible? then you'll want the highest resolution you can get your hands on. If you're just covering a front door or something then 2k, 1080 or even lower is probably fine. From memory I think you want ~80pixels for a face with enough detail for identification. So the bigger the resolution the further you can potentially identify someone.

I'll see if I can rustle up a 4k photo I'm willing to share that wont give away too much information.

                • @pinkybrain: A photo from one of the 4k camera's is up, the leaves isn't a method of hiding the camera. Just too lazy to cut them back :D.

EDIT: Just checked the 4k camera is a RLC-810, can record at 25fps.

        • I was going over footage of the kangaroos at the front and you could see the slugs moving on the grass so safe to say if it's not a very fast moving object you can make out plenty with the nightvision

          • @DannyBoy: Oh I've been impressed with what the camera's have been able to pick up, there's a spot in the yard that's ~70-80 meters away and standing still the camera was able to get a fairly good outline of me standing there in the middle of the night. Obviously the second I moved I turned into a smear and disappeared. But overall was impressed.

      • better to get 4k or 2k etc?
how many fps do you get with the 4K?

is the RLK8-811 better model with optical zoom?

can you post some pics/videos, including night mode?

Rate this kit, had for 2 years and been great. Find it easy to use and set up. Also run 3 reolink wifi cameras within the same app

  • I don’t need 4 cameras and happy to store on SD Card though

    • This offers constant 4k recording though a wireless 4k camera will not

      • I still want wired though

Coupon usage limit has been reached, any more OP?

    • Hi dear,
Sorry for the mistake, now the coupon code is reactive now. you can use it again!

      • Hi OP, can you message me another code. I was just about to checkout

        • de800d4kit this code is valid again.

  • Do we need to get electrician to install these camera? I guess they require cabling.

    • POE means they draw power from the ethernet cable which does not require an electrician. if you wish to run cabling through the attic/crawlspace/eaves then it may require some assistance, but definitely does not require an electrician.

      • Thanks mate.

  • Dear all, the coupon code(de800d4kit) is valid again, you can use it to get the best price!

  • For those with this kit (@2jzzzz and @DannyBoy - how did you find mounting the cameras? I put my first up a few days ago and I was surprised there was no grub screw or similar to hold the internal camera section from moving around inside the housing once it's installed.

Admittedly the camera hasn't moved in the few days I've had it up, but it feels like the slightest touch is all that's needed to turn the camera to face the wall or ground so it's not recording the area you want it to.

    • Mine haven't moved at all, but they're under eaves of my 2 story queenslander, so don't get knocked. . I adjusted it after mounting. Left them for a while, readjusted a bit later on and they've stayed exact same position
I hadn't thought about what actually kept them in position, but it felt quality and it was held still well

    • To be honest in was a little underwhelmed by the bracket used to mount the camera to the ceiling/wall but either way they have been up for a couple of years and are fine.

One is even mounted vertically on brickwork out in the elements and that's had no issues so far

  • Can't find it on website. But does this have audio recording as well?

  • Hi Rep, any deals on the RLC-811A cameras? Looking at buying an 8CH NVR bundled with 6x RLC-811A cameras. Thank you.
