Had 2 of these "pop" a keyswitch. Not a keycap, as in the switch came in half; clips broken off.

They feel AMAZING while they work, but if you're a heavy typer (Im used to buckling spring) just be aware.

    • +1

I had a buckling spring keyboard and it was great, but someone at work complained and I had to take it home. :(

It was a Unicomp 122-key model that was built like a battleship. Sadly, it was too big for my desk at home, too. From memory, I on-sold it at a profit to another enthusiast who was just as keen to have one. Definitely not for everyone.

I don't get the no numpad fad, are people that hard up for desk space or want to look cool which it still isn't. I rarely use it, but it is handy sometimes and way faster than the top number keys for entering a lot quickly.

    • +13

I never use numpad and when I had a keyboard with I always had to place my right hand in an unnatural position to use the mouse well

      • +2

This. If mainly gaming and you’re right handed the keypad adds to ergo issues

    • +6

I like the ergonomics of no numpad, especially for gaming (mouse and keyboard are closer).

    • +7

As other have said, it's the ergonomics of TKL that's desirable. I have a Keychron K4 and I love that for taking up the same space as a TKL, but still having the numpad

    • +1

Yeah and people usually have the desk space since they would already have a huge monitor or 2 monitors.

    • +1

Not really a fad, I mean if you have a proper set up with tower on your desk that - 10ish CM of space is a huge difference. I have a massive desk and I still noticed when I swap between my 70% and my full sized. Ill admit I do miss the number pad when its not there but for gaming the ergonomic improvement is too much to ignore.

    • +2

For FPS gaming it can free up more space for mouse movements, and it makes the mouse and keyboard stance more narrow.

    • Left handed people

Can price beat at OW for extra -5%, but since they still haven't updated the micro usb its still a pass for me.

checking my purchase history, i bought mine for $249 from umart just over a year ago. yikes. haven't had any switch or keycap issues yet but i still hate logitech's refusal to give us backlit secondary characters. battery lasts for ages even with rgb on.

  • Paid $239@Amazon in Jan 2022 and loving it still. This is a great price!
Tax deductible for those who can.

  • A seller on ebay is selling this for $180 with a discount code but it's out of stock at the moment.

As someone who started down the rabbitwarren that is Mechanical Keyboards (including owning other Logitech keyboards), do yourself a favour and consider buying something renowned for reliability and durability. This particular Logitech keyboard has been known to be quite fragile (see https://www.reddit.com/r/LogitechG/comments/lql9f9/logitech_…).

I bought myself a ducky years ago and have loved it. I have changed the look and feel several times by buying new keycaps and have not looked back.

It's difficult to beat the G915 in terms of latency, though. RTINGS reports the G915 worst (Bluetooth) latency at 8.9 ms vs the K8 Pro's best latency (wired) at 11.2 ms. G915 wired latency is 1.3 ms. I'm sure 99.999% of people won't notice the difference.

Edit: I just looked up the latency on the Ducky One 3 and it's a mere 4.5 ms wired. That's very impressive.

  • Anyone who own this, can you tell if this keyboard is loud? I owned a brown otemu keyboard and hoping the mechanical sound will be as quiet.

    • +1

Both the linear and tactile variants of this board will still be quite loud, it won't be too much of a step down in noise from your current brown switches. Of you want a silent sound profile, look at using silent switches.

    • +2

i have this keyboard in all 3 switches so while tactiles isn't as loud as the clicky, it's still audible, especially if you're a heavy typer. i also have the linear/white version and it isn't as silent as other types of linear switches. the material they use for the keycaps, and rattly stabilisers don't help.

I returned two of these, the software was so janky and the RGB lights would continually fail. Would always lose connectivity, too.

The worst part were the keycaps - ABS plastics that got shiny

    • +1

those keycaps were shiny out of the box lol. rgb on mine hasn't failed yet 1 year on…never bothered with the software cos i heard the same complaints

  • +2

This still seems kinda expensive compared to something like a Keychron, Royal Kludge or Nuphy. Am I missing anything?

    • +3

A lot of the price premium is just branding. But you do technically lose out of some things (Keychron K1 no volume knob, no custom lighting profiles; RK87 no volume knob, full plastic body; Nurphy, form factor slightly different, full plastic body). You do save quite a bit with any of these alternatives tho. The G915 is really only a "good" option if you must have everything it offers.

  • +2

can get 5% price beat at OW as well.

  • I got mine back in December 2020 for $200 and I love it. I hate the noise of blue keys so I bought the tactile version. Its not noisy at all.

No issues with the battery or rgb lights

  • Debating over this and the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro. If only the G915 had USB-C. I really want to move on from anything Micro USB.

    • +1

I have 2 of those apple magsafe like magnetic usb adaptors for both my microusb g915 and g pro x superlight. Easier than plugging cables or usb-c because of the magnetic connection

      • Heya! Yeah that is a good way to get around the issue. I have thought of this tactic, my brother uses them, but personally I just want to fully move to USB-C and not introduce more habits and such. I went with the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro, its on sale at good ole wireless 1 ebay for $239, and with W1SSAVE5 + YIPPEE10 coupon codes, comes down to $206.10 delivered. Maybe I should post this as a deal, as most places have it for $330+.

  • Hello heroes - does anyone know if you can use one USB dongle (lightspeed) with another logitech mouse? Aka will I end up with two dongles in the PC or one for both? Looking to free up some USBS :D

I have the Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT Wireless mouse

  • Or if you don't care about RGB or want a full keyboard, save yourself $80-100 and get a G613.
